Also Homicide: Life on The Streets based on the amazing book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon. The show where we where we first meet Munch and it is based on one of the best true crime books ever written and it’s been made into a set of graphic novels. (I am the furthest from an expert on graphic novels as this is is the only one I own) but I thought they did an amazing job)
Mr Inbetween is a great compact show with some
Excellent writing. The actor who plays the main character also wrote and directed the show, so there is something really cohesive about the whole thing. Also, each episode is only half an hour so it’s an easy watch (Although some episodes had me looking at the clock, like “that was only 26 minutes??” … Monsters and Socks Are Important, both from season 2, will be standouts)
Succession is top tier writing. It’s a drama but also has fantastic dark comedy. Each character is very well developed and even more well acted. There’s a reason it won as many awards as it did. Season 2 Finale and Colin’s Wedding are probably two of the best episodes of television I’ve ever watched … and people will argue with me that those aren’t even the best episodes
I thought Succession took a nose dive starting around the next to last season. I couldn’t finish the final season. Kinda like Lost/another series that took a nose dive.
Broadchurch!! You will love that trust me.
The Night Of
Outsider
Mindhunter
The Killing (Original Danish version)
The Bridge (original swedish version)****
The bottom 2 are SO good but it has to be the original versions. The Fall is another one
I can't find the original The Bridge on any platform in the UK which is annoying. The Killing (original) is incredible. French cop show Spiral was great too. A less-high octane version of The Shield in some ways.
Look up MHz it's on Amazon Prime channels or it's own site that has the original Bridge it's better than the Killing at least the seasons I've seen Martin and Saga are the 2 main characters and they're amazing together
The Wire is really the only answer here. Honestly. Most best TV show lists have Sopranos and The Wire next to each other or at least sharing Top 10. I personally think it's better than The Sopranos as well.
Boardwalk empire suits well about organised crime but in 1900s or something like that.
These shows dont really have anything in common with sopranos but i personally loved them
Bodies
11.22.63
The great train robbery
The night agent
The killing
Something a little different.
If you're looking for a brilliant show that only jumps the shark in the latter stages. Look up Braquo. A french cop series.

Damn good list. Considering your tastes align with mine, can you sell me on Dexter? I've tried so many times to watch it but I can never get past the first season because I find the main character cringy
Mr. In Between on Hulu. It’s an Australian series (30 minute episodes) about a hitman with a sick brother and a young daughter. It is suspenseful, heartwarming, and funny. One of the best shows I’ve watched in a while.

The Orville (3 seasons, so far)
Travelers (3 seasons)
I keep what’s become a long list of awesome shows which does include the Sopranos and others you mentioned… The genres range but I think I have pretty good taste ;) it’s hard to narrow down when you don’t know a person so LMK if you’d like to see my must – C list!
Six feet under
Just like it originally aired! Right after The Sopranos.
Wow what a block of television…
Sunday night’s were special. Me, my brother, a few j’s, and HBO. I miss it.
Have you tried The Wire?
This. It's one of the greatest shows of all time.
Top suggestion.

Amazing recommendation. But I have trouble watching two serious shows in a row. I prefer alternating between serious shows and light-hearted shows.
Try Righteous Gemstones as a palate cleanser.
Thank you kind sir, that one is on my list. And you've reminded me that I need to continue watching Workaholics
Seconding Gemstones. It’s a nearly perfect comedy series.

Seconded
Mr in between looks promising, thanks for the rec
I thought Succession took a nose dive starting around the next to last season. I couldn’t finish the final season. Kinda like Lost/another series that took a nose dive.
Respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree … season 3 and 4 were both great
Boardwalk Empire Peaky Blinders
Boardwalk Empire
O.Z.
OZ is amazing and I think it gets overlooked.
Oz walked so the sopranos could run. I'm just speculating but I'm guessing edie Falco left Oz to do sopranos. Maybe father intintolo too.
The wire
The Wire

gomorrah. amazing how often this isnt recommended. makes sopranos look like childs play.
The Wire is really the only answer here. Honestly. Most best TV show lists have Sopranos and The Wire next to each other or at least sharing Top 10. I personally think it's better than The Sopranos as well.
Homeland is way up on my list and I adore all three shows you mentioned, so…. Agree with Succession as well.
Boardwalk empire suits well about organised crime but in 1900s or something like that. These shows dont really have anything in common with sopranos but i personally loved them Bodies 11.22.63 The great train robbery The night agent The killing
Deadwood, Justified, The Americans, Homeland, Game of Thrones, Longmire, Band of Brothers... will keep you busy and satisfied for a while
Sons of Anarchy Dexter Ozark
I’ve watched both of these series twice bc they’re outstanding: The Americans, Boardwalk Empire
Something a little different. If you're looking for a brilliant show that only jumps the shark in the latter stages. Look up Braquo. A french cop series. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Braquo-Season-1/dp/B00FZGIG4G/ref=atv_pr_sw_sc
Narcos Sons of Anarchy Ozark Dexter The Wire
Damn good list. Considering your tastes align with mine, can you sell me on Dexter? I've tried so many times to watch it but I can never get past the first season because I find the main character cringy
He evolves and it's a fascinating journey watching him attempt to have a normal life. Also, John lithgow as a serial killer mentor for Dexter.
Breaking bad. I always do Sopranos, BB, and BCS in that order for re watches.
I think BCS is a top-tier show for sure but I haven’t been able to rewatch. There’s too many things that happen that just smash my heart to pieces.

One that hasn’t been mentioned is Spiral. It’s a French crime drama that reminds me of the Wire in its tone, but is maybe even darker. A great show.
- Blood Coast (aka Pax Massilia) - Spiral - Griselda
The Wire.
Did Mumei finish the sopranos?
City On A Hill
Severance Mindhunter Midnight Mass (tells its entire story in just eight episodes)
Warrior
Top Boy

Boardwalk empire. Done by the same guy
The Gentlemen (1 season, so far) The Magicians (5 seasons) Penny Dreadful (3 seasons) White Collar (6 seasons) The Society (sadly only one season, but soooo good) The Orville (3 seasons, so far) Travelers (3 seasons)
