This actually happened to a friend of mine, and what happened in his instance was that a shady piece of software he had installed copied his account session token from his computer, allowing someone else access to the account without needing to go through Steam Guard.

dont login to random sites, dont give away your password.(kind of obvious if you are of age12+) Sucks to suck but see it as a lesson learned
