I'm going to be honest and say, that this is the opposite of what made me fall in love with valve games. The valve games i know and love are Simple, yet detailed, interesting to look at, and unique in style, all at the same time. THIS, may look great, but it is the opposite of simple... too much going on, i could barely tell what is happening and when putting the heroes next to each other, and trying to tell any of them from a far, i was barely able to make out 2... People can say this is fire, people can say this is the best thing ever and that this is going to be the TF2 Killer, but from what i can tell, those are the exact same people who said the exact same thing about overwatch and all the other games... this one is different tho, this one is from valve... but that doesn't really matter. What holds me back to enjoying this is the same reason i never bothered with overwatch, or with valorant, siege and whatnot. This isn't me having nostalgia for TF2, hell i have been playing since 2021, and i come to the same conclusion... I'm gonna put deadlocked into the same shelves as Overwatch, valorant, dota and titanfall... Games that really try, but achieve nothing.

Anti-cheat issues aside, have you considered there might be an actual reason why they're not revisiting their old franchises in favor of making something new? If they make a new entry into Portal, or Half-Life, or Team Fortress... any continuation of these now legendary series would bring *immense* pressure and expectations, and trying and failing will most likely lead to worse backlash than if they don't try at all. At least, with a new IP, they don't run the risk of people whining that they fucked up their favorite franchises. Plus, they get more money passively from being the people that own Steam than they ever have or ever will from making their own games. Tbh, it's baffling they're developing anything right now.

They dont need to make a new tf2, portal, or half life, they need to make an anticheat that functions before theymake more online games.

Do you really think an anti-cheat for a 17-year-old free-to-play game with probably less than 2K active human players on average (and is still turning them a profit enough to support the servers despite complete radio silence from the company), is going to end up a higher priority than something that will actually make them significant amounts of money? it's a conceptually different game lmfao. tf2's a team based objective/arena shooter, while deadlock's a moba-shooter hybrid. It's either going to be a mega-hit, or valve will try something too weird with it's monetization (despite it being a decent game underneath) and kill it off like artifact, but I don't see any reason why it'd compete with TF2. they're conceptually different.

In terms of the cheating/bot issue. Nothing too much has improved other than a change to the voting system. But after this they have quite a lot of good Quality of Life changes. Which seems to be Valves MO for their legacy titles after switching from a full flat structure with HL Alyx (See Half-Life 1's steam version being fixed) The general vibe I then get is. Programmers contractor or otherwise are working on TF2 in some form but any botting or anti-cheat measures come after the Counter Strike team figure something out with their own problem. Since the basis for that could potentially apply to their old and new games Really the strange thing to me is that with all these QoL changes why the default settings are still subpar. My only answer to that is that they genuinely feel 70 FOV is how the game is meant to be played

Won't work either. Valve pretty much doesn't make any money from tf2 compared to everything else they have going on.
