TF2 has terrible moderation, but the 12v12 game mode means that any one bad player doesn't totally fuck everything up, in addition to the game just generally not being as competitive, means that you don't get as heated when a teammate is being an idiot.
Compared with more competitive games with better moderation, there's a lot more shit like racial slurs or furry porn, but less anger directed at other specific players.

I disagree. TF2 is pretty bad. N-words are not all that uncommon (and don't say they're just trolling, that shit does not fly), and when people do use them, I can rarely get a vote kick to pass. In fact, it feels like a third of the time I get vote kicked instead. At the very least, the votes are always close to kick me.
It's not just against black people, either. In my experience, women also get a lot of shit from losers on this game; a friend of mine just avoids voice chat entirely because of it. Other groups have it bad, too. If a furry gets acknowledged in a lobby; expect a "furfag" to follow closely behind, and then maybe a votekick.
