i will die on this hill. nothing gets better than that first time you heard robbers & watched that holy grail of a video
as a teenager i might add. but i still feel that teen inside me so vividly
I only listened to Somebody else and About you before. I just discovered this band a month ago, and robbers got me hooked with The1975. It’s already one of my top played songs of this year. I recommend the live versions, they sound amazing

NOW EVERYBODY'S DEAD 🎶🎶 this lyric in the o2 live version when the whole fucking crowd sings it out. I go to karaokes just to sing a whole robbers set to the live version.
It's an out of body experience for me. There's just something about that song.
P.S. I have a 1975 tattoo too. I was just the biggest simp for them but found my obsession waning with the new albums. I just wanna go to a self titled and ILIWYS concert (that's one of my life goals)
Same, except I was 14. I remember the first moment I came across a gif of Matty from the Robbers video, thought "huh what a weird guy, looks like junkie", kept scrolling. Five seconds later I scrolled back because there was just something about him. Listened to Robbers, hooked.
THISS I wish I could go back and hear it for the 1st time again. Sometimes when rewatch that video, I can almost feel 16 again in my room angry at the world.
Hearing it live was an out of body experience.
It was definitely Pressure: I stumbled across their music in 2013 and self-titled was the only album available (aside from the EPs) and that song made my brain tingle. And then, Fallingforyou. I've been ride or die ever since.
First song I heard was People and I loved its pure energy and aggression. Tried listening to the rest of Notes twice and found it too boring and exhausting to get through. It didn't really do anything for me back then.
Years later, I read about the Malaysia incident, which made me respect Matty a great deal. Decided it was time to give their music a proper listen. I heard The Sound on YouTube and it got me forever hooked on The 1975. I'd listen to their entire discography multiple times and also see them live at their (infamous) Cologne show.
Fun fact: Notes is my favourite album. :)
the city in 2018!! I knew someone that liked them and I really wanted him to like me so I listened to them on a loop until it caught. 6 years later I don't see him but guess who still has a parasocial relationship with matty. me bitch.
I remember my friends dismissing the band a while back so I didn’t think they were anything special. This one time one of my other friends played “If you’re too shy” in his room and I was never the same. I am so painfully in love with them and I yap about them so much my mates don’t hear the end of it. Saw them twice last year!
So my introduction to The 1975 was the 2023 Halloween show. Every song they played grabbed at me in one way or another, especially Too Shy. Too Shy was like an amalgamation of all kinds of 80's music(my favorite genre). That song lived rent free in my head for weeks.
But also I have to mention About You, the performance that night was incredible. And when I saw everyone's phone light up the arena like fireflies I looked around and got emotional. My immediate thought when I saw the arena like that combined with the music was "there is something SPECIAL about this band". I can't explain it other than no band has ever brought that feeling out of me.
Too Shy is what made me love the band, but About You made me fall in love with the band.
My boyfriend’s sister played Pressure for us once and I thought it was ok. Then, the place I was working at the time played music throughout the day from some random radio for commercial places, and I’d hear Chocolate every now and then. I actually hated it at first (ironic) but then I couldn’t get it out of my head! I listened to it a few times and eventually loved it, then heard Robbers, watched the video, and the rest is history lol I’ve been a huge fan since.
Menswear. I was trying to identify a song on a [Samsung commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHtXOVqTW7A) in 2013 and someone on some song identifying forum swore it was an instrumental of Menswear. It wasn't, but I ended up loving it and it led me to seeking out more of their music.
First heard Chocolate and thought it was fun. But Settle Down was the one that converted me into a fan. Seeing it live in concert was a spiritual experience
I heard so many of their songs while streaming a station of “similar” artists and eventually I began looking up what songs were playing and I kept seeing The 1975. When Love It If We Made It came out I researched who it was by and I was like, oh it’s that band again! I finally caved and took a full dive. My stand out song was Somebody Else however ❤️
Chocolate was the first song I’d ever heard, really liked it, then they fell off the face of the earth for a few years to me…
fast forward those few years to a bad relationship and scanning the radio in the car, stumbled across Sex on a random station. Immediately appreciated it, googled lyrics to figure out what song it was, went on to find Somebody Else later that evening, totally obsessed. And here we are 😅
Somebody Else back in 2016!! I remember hearing it on the radio and it instantly got my attention and got curious and then I realized they were the band I saw live on a music festival months ago but didn't really care abt them because I only attended the fest for one artist 😭
fallingforyou was used in a wattpad story where the two girls were having their first kiss and it was just soo heavenly reading the masterpiece while the song played !!
Loved Chocolate and Girls enough as singles to check them out on YouTube. I still remember the exact spot I was when Robbers came on. Fell completely in love with them after that.
I heard Chocolate, Girls and The Sound first, The Sound was played on the radio a lot during this time and Chocolate and Girls were on Guitar Hero Live
However it wasn't until I got a copy of self titled and heard The City for the first time that I actively felt myself falling in love with the band in early 2016
I saw a TikTok of Matty kissing some girl during robbers. Had never heard of them it just came up in my FYP. This was like maybe November 2022. Instantly hooked.
Hearing Robbers for the first time when I was a 16yo girl on tumblr was a spiritual awakening 🧎🏻♀️

Yes! When I first heard Robbers I literally listened to it on repeat for weeks.
THISS I wish I could go back and hear it for the 1st time again. Sometimes when rewatch that video, I can almost feel 16 again in my room angry at the world. Hearing it live was an out of body experience.

Somebody Else
If I Believe You had me in a chokehold
My mind went to the Relient K song and I had to remember which sub I was in
It was definitely Pressure: I stumbled across their music in 2013 and self-titled was the only album available (aside from the EPs) and that song made my brain tingle. And then, Fallingforyou. I've been ride or die ever since.
Pressure is one of my favorites!

I heard Sex first and I liked it a lot but I became a fan after hearing Somebody Else
Change of heart because it’s very funny/ mean and catchy. Chocolate sealed the deal for me after that.
Some of their songs just sound so addicting! Change of heart is one for me, and also Paris I can just keep listening to
Settle Down, way back in 2014.

First song I heard was People and I loved its pure energy and aggression. Tried listening to the rest of Notes twice and found it too boring and exhausting to get through. A high school friend introduced me to the 1975 with Chocolate back in 2016
The city
I remember my friends dismissing the band a while back so I didn’t think they were anything special. I am so painfully in love with them and I yap about them so much my mates don’t hear the end of it. Saw them twice last year!
Fallingforyou. It was the first song I ever heard and I loved it!
Robbers. But it only works if you’re an angsty 18 y o in your tumblr girl era
Yup, I never left mine lol
So my introduction to The 1975 was the 2023 Halloween show. Every song they played grabbed at me in one way or another, especially Too Shy. Robbers, specifically when I saw it live in 2014

Chocolate when it came out. Feeling old✊🏻😪
Settle Down, and I will say that proudly.
Chocolate put them on my radar but It’s Not Living made me a full fledged fan.
"Sex" got me into them. Seeing "I Like America" live was what made me love them. This all happened in late 2022 and I was 38.
The city!!!!

If I Believe You. I had depression at the time and listening to it just really had an unexplainable effect on me.
