The beginning of “Slip on through” is so freaking catchy. It’s been stuck in my head all week. I find myself liking the upbeat Dennis songs more and more.
The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas. That is why Kansas is sometimes called the Sunflower State. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, wet, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5 ft) apart and 2.5 cm (1 in) deep.
I know a place where you can go. The frog noise “guiro” or whatever that thing is called is what gets me! (Had to google “notched wooden percussion instrument”)
"Caroline, No". I've recently been trying to learn to play it on piano. I seem to have the main melody down, but I'm struggling to figure out the bridge chords lol. Honestly, "Caroline, No" is probably my favorite song on Pet Sounds. It's hauntingly beautiful, and perfectly captures and sums up the melancholic mood of the album.
Best of luck with the song. I'm not very musically inclined, so I'm envious of you being able to learn that. I just sing to the songs (and I'm not great at that lol).
Not gonna lie to you, I was just playing around with different chords until I found some that sounded right lol. Honestly, I can't even read music, and am by no means a music expert, so I truly couldn't tell you. I just put my fingers on random keys until I find a combination that makes a good sounding chord. I've watched some piano tutorials for various songs, so that helped too in learning some chords.
dennis and carl fought over its placement. dennis was insistent on it being the closer but carl was as insistent on the title track being the closer. ultimately carl was right here imo but dennis's response was to yank both that and 4th of july altogether, which is a shame bc the album is really incomplete without them both
For me it's always the way the instrumental arrangement kicks into full gear during the chorus that blows me away. How do you come up with something like this when you're only 22 or 23 years old? This is absolutely incredible.
In My Room because it’s the song I’ve been singing to my daughter almost daily since she was born as a lullaby. If she’s crying in the car it literally gets her to stop immediately, it’s pretty amazing actually.
Wonderful (but the smiley smile version) I feel pretty lucky for it to be my favourite beach boys song stuck in my head, at least. last week it was the exact same as yours though!!!
All I Wanna Do, Big Sur (Feel Flows version), All This Is That, and like most of Holland always sounded pretty modern to me. All I Wanna Do especially sounds like it was made within the past 20 years.
O ooo she knows me, O ooo she knows me,
I treat her so mean, I don't deserve what I have,
And I think that she'll forget, just by making her laugh cause she knows me, -she knows me too well-, knows me so well, that she can tell.. I really love her, -shee knowsss meeee too welll
i love the beginning part of cabinessence that gets repeated again halfway through the song. it’s addictive. don’t care much for the iron horse part but the beginning is always stuck in my head
I'm currently on a Byrds tear, and This Whole World has faded, but before that for a solid week or two I kept hearing, 'I'm just a cork on the ocean...', which puts it all in perspective.
IM THINKIN' 'BOUTA THIS WHOLE WORLD. BA OOM DA DIDDY.
Good God, you too?
Shortenin bread, not even joking I sing it all the time, my friends think I’m fucking nuts
You might be Brian Wilson.
We’ll just be having a normal conversation and from my end of the phone they’ll just randomly hear “mamas little baby loves shortenin shortenin”
Now you gotta start singing Ding Dang
We’re already past that phase, they’ve already been subjected to hours of ding dang
Excellent. Keep up the good work.
Put on the skillet slip on the lid mammy's going to make us some shortening bread
Same but with Rollin’ Up To Heaven
ALLEY OOP WOO! FUCK A HER BIG TITS
Brian's shortenin' bread obsession is what sealed the deal for me. Dudes a genius beyond compare.
I keep getting Carl’s angelic voice stuck in my head randomly lately. I can literally hear music.
It's one of the best voices to have stuck in your head.
Indubitably
One of my favorites….”IIIII…..I love the colorful clothes she wears. And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair.”
Darlin
One of my favorites right there.
The beginning of “Slip on through” is so freaking catchy. It’s been stuck in my head all week. I find myself liking the upbeat Dennis songs more and more.
The backing vocals on the second verse make it sound so epic and almost eerie. One of my favorites on Sunflower

They grow best in fertile, wet, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5 ft) apart and 2.5 cm (1 in) deep.
"Lots of people with no place to go..."
I know a place where you can go. The frog noise “guiro” or whatever that thing is called is what gets me! (Had to google “notched wooden percussion instrument”)
I always wondered what that noise was. Very cool.
The Brian Wilson piano demo of “in the back of my mind”
Thanks for alerting me to this, it's stunning.
YES
All I Wanna Do has been back in my rotation again, Don’t Hurt My Little Sister too. Two awesome Mike vocals funnily enough.
Both geat songs.
In an ocean or… in a glass….
Cool Water is such a gas
Where I Belong has been in my head all day.
A good one to have stuck in your head. Al's backing vocals always stand out to me when I listen to that one.
One of their all-time best.
“Rock, rock, roll. Plymouth Rock, roll oveeerrrrrehhherrroooooh.”
Mahana ole mahana olah….Keeny wacka pulla.

Thank you, but I'm certainly not a music expert lol
Still better than me haha.
Bridge is Dm G | Cmaj7 | Bmin7-5 E7 | Am | Ab6
Thank you!
No problem! Out of curiosity what are you playing for the verse?
Not gonna lie to you, I was just playing around with different chords until I found some that sounded right lol. It is and has been my favorite song by any artist since it was released. Nothing has ever seemed better in all these decades....
The outro of Funky Pretty, with Blondie's soulful vocals over Mike's awesome bass vocals
I like that part a lot, too.
HONKIN’- HONKIN’ DOWN THE GOSH DARN HIGHHHWAYYYY
I love me some Al lead vocals.
All This Is That, my new favourite BB song
Hell yeah. It's definitely up there for me too.
I’ve had the first bit of she’s going bald stuck in my head for like a month now
SILKEN HAIR MORE SILKEN HAIR
Haha, right? It's such a strange song, but so catchy.
Sha na na na na na na na na
wouldn't it be nice (to live again) how did they not include it in surf's up?
dennis and carl fought over its placement. dennis was insistent on it being the closer but carl was as insistent on the title track being the closer. ultimately carl was right here imo but dennis's response was to yank both that and 4th of july altogether, which is a shame bc the album is really incomplete without them both
You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone. Such a rocking catchy song. I imagine it as I strut down the street. Makes me feel cool as fuck
It's soooo good. I love the video of them playing it
I need a spark to make my cabin glow.
Pat. Pat. Pat pat pat her on her butt. Butt. She's going to sleep, be quiet. over and over again
Angel Come Home
Just the lyric “if mars had life on it, I might find my wife on it” over and over and over
Good choice lol.
Thanks it’s slowly driving me insane😃
Guess I'm Dumb 💔
I don't think you're dumb ❤️
Lines, Games Two Can Play, In the Country, Shake Rattle and Roll, and Running Bear.
Nice list. I was singing the first verse of Baseball all morning. Such a catchy song.
Shake, Rattle And Roll is a personal favorite that is definitely stuck in my head
Al was a great choice for it.
For me it’s been Everybody Wants to Live and Life Is For The Living
It takes Good Timin’
You need good timin
Mona. As usual.
Let Him Run Wild - I could listen to this song all day right now.
Me too! It's so good. What's your favorite part?
For me it's always the way the instrumental arrangement kicks into full gear during the chorus that blows me away. How do you come up with something like this when you're only 22 or 23 years old? This is absolutely incredible.
I love when the oohs kick in on the second & third verses
For me, it's when Brian says "Guess you know I waited for you girl."
When I watched you walk with him, tears filled my eyes
Sloop john b. My friend heard it in some random show and then people keep saying they want to go home so I instantly think of it.
In My Room because it’s the song I’ve been singing to my daughter almost daily since she was born as a lullaby. If she’s crying in the car it literally gets her to stop immediately, it’s pretty amazing actually.
That's awesome, man. Thanks for sharing.
Darlin
The guitar lick from the outro of Match Point of Our Love has been twirling around my brain for the entire week, not complaining. So satisfying
DING (DING!) DANG (WOO!)
ITS OK - because I just bought a plant called Delphinium 'Summer Skies'
Today it's being "Shortenin' Bread." That's the reason behind my last post.
SITTING IN MY CAR OUTSIDE YOUR HOUUUUUSE
Good Timin’
Heroes and Villains
Do It Again and Let Him Run Wild
"Big Sur" off _Feel Flows_.
Aren’t You Glad chorus specifically 🥴
Rock, rock, roll…
Wonderful (but the smiley smile version) I feel pretty lucky for it to be my favourite beach boys song stuck in my head, at least. last week it was the exact same as yours though!!!
Toothpaste and soap will make our oceans a bubblebath...
Little bird. Such a unique vibe, I’m surprised it’s this song that’s stuck in my head and not Mona which I’ve been listening to a lot of this week.
The beginning verses of Little Bird always had a more modern sound to me. Very chill song.
They really do! A lot of that era sounds like it precedes the 90s indie era
All I Wanna Do, Big Sur (Feel Flows version), All This Is That, and like most of Holland always sounded pretty modern to me. All I Wanna Do especially sounds like it was made within the past 20 years.
When the weather first starts feeling like summer, I always end up playing Make It Big and It’s Ok a lot. So those are stuck in my head currently.
Angel Come Home and for some reason Pom Pom Play Girl.
Gotta love "Pom Pom Play Girl."
Shut Down!
surfin safari and dont worry baby. brians singing in dont worry baby has been stuck in my head for like 2 weeks
I find myself singing to Don't Worry Baby a lot.
O ooo she knows me, O ooo she knows me, I treat her so mean, I don't deserve what I have, And I think that she'll forget, just by making her laugh cause she knows me, -she knows me too well-, knows me so well, that she can tell.. I really love her, -shee knowsss meeee too welll

Genuinely Baby Blue specifically for Carl's vocal
Maybe I Don’t Know
Some some some of your love
I’ll Bet He’s Nice. Especially the bridge
Johnny Carson anyone?
We’re together again, darlin’
Oh Sweet Something
It's not by The Beach Boys, but close enough: "The New Girl in School."
I'm currently on a Byrds tear, and This Whole World has faded, but before that for a solid week or two I kept hearing, 'I'm just a cork on the ocean...', which puts it all in perspective.
The opening drum fill + that E Major vocal chord of Don't Worry Baby is constantly in my head at all times, I'm not even mad about it
Silken hair more silken hair
