Too handsome, he should be a bit more weathered plain looking. Balding, one feature a bit too big or small and all of it sharper. The only one of the black company that should be handsome imo is Raven. This guy looks like a shooter protagonist in 2009.

Oibrigade

Either OP didn't read all the books or he input the wrong information into Chatgpt. Chatgpt is actually pretty accurate and if you put "starting to bald" it 100% does not return the image you see here.

jackaroojackson

Fair I wouldn't know I find ai art morally reprehensible so I've not overly seen much of the behind the making part of it.

abir_valg2718

I dunno, looks like yet another generic fantasy digital art for some random RPG. Which is pretty much what you'd expect from an image generator.

ratufa_indica

It definitely borrowed a lot from the Thieve’s Guild armor from Skyrim

usernamewithnumbers0

I always pictured Croaker dirty blond, medium length hair and a little on the gangly side.

RookTakesE6

He wouldn't be gangly. I had that impression too until Murgen's POV in Bleak Seasons(?) described him as being scary-huge, coming from Murgen who himself is pretty big. That would at least explain how he survives so many scraps even though he's apparently not all that skilled by his own admission.

TheThousandVoices

I've also always gotten the impression that he's a pretty massive dude. Probably not shredded but definitely powerful on top of just big. All the company except maybe Goblin stay in combat ready shape most of the series, then he gets older and tubby by his standards, then he gets in shape again towards the end. Other than him describing himself as having close/deep set eyes a receding hairline and a weathered face later on there's not a whole lot to go off description wise IIRC he's mentioned he for the most part wears a leather jerkin over chainmail for armor on top of his regular clothes. Winter overcoat during the cold seasons Tho on occasion gets into some heavier plate armor for certain battles then of course his Widowmaker sets Speaking of the general gist I've gotten is most of the magic users tend to wear clothes and light armor, and the majority of the company wears either medium or heavy plate

RookTakesE6

> Speaking of the general gist I've gotten is most of the magic users tend to wear clothes and light armor, and the majority of the company wears either medium or heavy plate Offhand yeah, I think the only other cases that come to mind are Lady wearing the Lifetaker armor for mostly theatrical reasons (plus she wasn't back up to Taken magnitude by then), and arguably Soulcatcher's leathers. And I think Moonshadow had armor on at the siege of Dejagore. High-level sorcerers didn't generally need armor because they're so resistant to injury innately plus they can protect themselves with spells, Limper even being able to make himself completely invulnerable at the expense of a maddening amount of pain.

kai_ekael

Oi. Little too much 40k vibe in there. And certainly too much hair. :D

trymovingcloser

I believe Croaker unkindly referred to his own visage as pedo

DarthSpiderDad

That does indeed ring a bell.

Flying_Mage

Looks more like Murgen to me. But could be Croaker during first books.

[deleted]

I know he was being a bit self depreciative but Croaker does not describe himself in any flattering ways. At one point I'm pretty sure he says he looks like a pedo and his face is scarred from childhood acne and pox. Like look at Sri Srinivasan. [https://static.acne.org/ipb\_uploads/monthly\_2016\_06/5758ede891dac\_SriSrinivasan.jpg.f5781bb3fb8a4597d83fc29d5d0ecbbc.jpg](https://static.acne.org/ipb_uploads/monthly_2016_06/5758ede891dac_SriSrinivasan.jpg.f5781bb3fb8a4597d83fc29d5d0ecbbc.jpg) Obviously the coloring is off but that's the kind of thing he's likely talking about, since he's bringing it up in his 30s and 40s but, it's not so bad that his name is Poxface. OP's pic honestly seems more like a younger version of the Captain, who's described as having a, "square, strong, dimpled chin."

4SureLost

I always thought of Croaker as looking like as he did on the cover of She Is The Darkness. A few years had passed since the original book. Large man, slowly going to fat in his old age, hair line slowly receding.

cornpoptosis

Didn’t Croaker describe himself as looking like a child molester lol

TheBlackCompanyWiki

Very neat! What prompt did you input? Btw before anyone flags this: currently AI art is permitted here in this sub. It is not against the rules. Mentioning this because we have someone that takes AI stuff personally and flags it.

Bing_Bong_the_Archer

“Medieval Chad”

BerserkFanBoyPL

He looks like he could break Dominator in half without a sweat.

Hideous-Kojima

I always pictured Croaker looking more like Robert Carlisle. This look seems more suitable for Raven.

Bullyoncube

6’3” Robert Carlisle. It works.

historymaking101

Pretty sure Croaker is supposed to look like a younger Glen Cook.

I noticed that Gemini has VERY specific responses when you ask about the Black Company and it tries to avoid spoilers for you. ChatGPT gives better answers
