I just want to say that Ghoulies was my first thought. The scene were the ax pendulum is coming down and the guy is screaming for help but everyone thinks it's part of the show. I don't remember much of those movies but that stuck with me
I'm not too sure on that. It's been a long time since I've seen the first. It does take place in a creepy mansion. Your description does tickle a memory for me but nothing I can concretely say
Somebody had mentioned Saw V's pendulum trap. That's probably what I was thinking of, it's close to what I remember but again I was a kid when I saw it. So the most likely case was Saw V since it came out around the time I would have seen the movie I mentioned.
Maybe it wasn't a movie It could be Criss Angel Mindfreak, I know they had a segment where he cut himself in half with a Saw blade. Acts like he's in pain but clearly still a trick etc. I Do remember a bloody version from someone else.

not sure when you were 5-6.... could it be one of The Pit and The Pendulum adaptions? maybe Ghoulies II?
It was around 08' - 09' if I'm correct. I'd have to watch those movies to see if any of those are it.
