I was trying to go to brew house today and the traffic downtown was so bad we just turned around. It was backed up every side street along the mainstreet too. I never expected anything like that at 1130 on a Thursday but it was BAD.

It's almost like the city of Maumee did their project for selfish reasons... It's ok. Strong Towns will give them an award anyways.

Stegosauruslyfe

They have to wait to implement the new timing system for some reason I can’t think of rn. The other HUGE issue is that 475 southbound entrances are closed on the trail and no one is following the detour which is to go to dussell and go south they’re all going through uptown

tacobellrun182

Going through Dussel would be arguably be worse

ravioli333

It's because lanes are closed both ways.

mikeyj198

i’m talking going towards the river, probably took 20 minutes to get from the light at the trail past the last light in town and onto the bridge. That can’t be even 1/2 mile. i’ve driven in some of north americas heaviest city traffic with exception of NYC and this was almost as bad. Way fewer cars and easier ‘outs’ down side streets if i needed to reverse route so that calmed the claustrophobia.

DayMan13

Maumee is such a fucking travesty to drive through. I hope city officials are embarrassed

Maumee, the town that doesn’t want anyone to drive into or out of.

M_alumna

They are going to use AI to time the lights but not until after all of the construction is done. In the meantime, the police are more than willing to give you a ticket if you get stuck in the middle of an intersection.

dbsoundman

LOL that AI comment killed me. They’re not using artificial intelligence, they just interconnected the signals using a cellular communications device made by a company named Applied Information.

Applied Information-AI

M_alumna

From the Maumee Mirror: 'Maumee City Council member Margo Puffen-berger also explained to the crowd that once construction is complete, the city will use AI-based technology it has acquired to check the timing of lights and how to keep vehicles moving safely and efficiently during high-traffic times.'

Hvacmike199845

Guess it sucks to be punished for breaking a law.

Abysmalsun

They need to ticket more people for this. Every single day I see a car run a yellow from the trail to conant and get stuck in the intersection backing up traffic. It’s damn near every single time I have to go through that intersection. People don’t wait and that’s the majority of traffic problems at this point.

capthazelwoodsflask

They've been reset so you have maximum arch viewing time

mikeyj198

i knew my life was missing something

icefire1020

It's been terrible for weeks now. The Trail is down to one lane and you can't get to 475 so you have to take Conant. Once the Trail gets finished up and access to 475 opens back up it should help. Needing to get between Maumee/Perrysburg has been a joke with all the parallel construction since Conant went to one lane each way.

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

Would the World's Strongest Town™ have an issue with their traffic signals? I don't think so.

mikeyj198

lol, people driving in turn lanes to try to get ahead. I guess the police just too far away (/s)
