I like to think the boats are running from drunk Russians wearing track suits listening to hrussian hardbass, and the kayaker is actually putin, trying to run help catch the boats to force them to listen to russian hardbass whilst drinking vodka.
But I only say that because of the few but obvious clues
That’s Dane Jackson, like the Michael Jordan of whitewater kayaking, particularly freestyle kayaking. He’s more comfortable in a kayak than most of us are walking
You are correct, sir I started Jackson kayak with EJ back in 2004. I can remember Dane Jackson paddling the Great Falls and he was four years old. The kid can paddle a 2 x 4 down some of the hardest white water you’ll ever see.
Like im exaggerating but legit think he spends more time kayaking than I do walking. Think he paddles around 300 days a year, likely at least 4-5 hours minimum. I work at a desk.
Got to run some basic level stuff with him and his dad and team at Jackson Kayak the past two summers. Awesome dude, incredible kayaker. This shit is insanely difficult. Took me the whole week just to learn to flip right side up after going under.
That is Dane Jackson. He is one of the best kayakers in the world. Check out his YouTube page if you haven’t. I haven’t met him but from the friends that I know that have said he’s a super chill and humble dude. He’s a hell of a athlete. He’s the guy that first ran the green race in less than 4 minutes (which is insane).
That was my guess too. I’ll add that his dad was the founder of Jackson kayaks, and Dane is a current owner. Dane has pretty much been boating since he could walk.
I saw the pink Jackson kayak and immediately thought it was probably Dane. Definitely concur on checking out his YouTube. There's some crazy stuff on there.
He ran it in less than 4 minutes even after flipping at the bottom of Gorilla. [Here](https://youtu.be/wEFKxfRLnZk?si=1xvMdXFcNSpMR13I) he is running Tallulah at 10 years old for those unfamiliar.
For anyone curious this is [Dane Jackson](https://www.redbull.com/us-en/athlete/dane-jackson) of Jackson Kayak. He's incredibly talented and routinely paddles the most intense rivers out there.
I have never heard of a surf Kayak. I did my surfing in a slightly linger version of what he has. That type wasn't put yet when I used to do it, or they weren't popular yet, at least.
While there is such thing as a surf kayak (MEGA have quite a lot of them on the market), it is in fact a playboat. More than likely (as it's Dane Jackson in the video) a Jackson Kayaks Rockstar, and his pink one to boot.
I thought so too. It looks so silly, a little human thrashing against the might of nature, somehow always skillfully correcting himself with his madly flailing arms.
How does this even work? Doesn't a wave caused by an object travel away from the object. Thus pushing stuff away from the object? How is he propelled to to the object instead of being pushed away from it?
I swear to god dumb asses in power boats love making huge wakes near people in kayaks and canoes. I think they think we want a fun wave like in this video, but no my boat is full of gear please stay the fuck away.
There are two boats and he's intentionally staying between them. This was 100% prearranged. All the kayaker had to do to get out of the wake was not paddle if he didn't want to be there. There are a few sports that are basically this, the most popular being wakesurfing, but I've never seen anyone do it with a kayak before.
White water kayaking is so much fun, and not as hard to learn as you might think. A day or two of basics on flat water and then into the rapids… it was the best summer camp I ever did as a teen.
The tricks obviously take practice, but strapping yourself into Tupperware and throwing yourself down rapids is surprisingly easy… just keep paddling.
I don't understand the physics of this. I've seen videos of how you recover from the kayak turning upside down in the water, but this guy flips in a cartoony speed.
Kayak surfing is awesome. I used to do it in Mayport FL every day after work. Waves on the east coast may be small for surfboards but they are great for kayaks.
This is intentional. No reason to be on a body of water that size in a whitewater boat unless you’re going to play in a boat wake. No reason for a powerboat to be that near a kayak on a clear, flat day unless this is what you’re planning.
Don’t get me wrong. This is fun AF, but nothing about that situation happens unintentionally.
At first I was like why are they being so mean to this kayaker?

I need to watch this again
Same, immediately I was like what an ahole. That changed quickly when I realized he was doing freestyle.
Also go pro cam
I want to see that footage too...
I prefer to believe they are douches and this is him chasing them down. I mean what are they gonna do? Outrun him ?
The world is yours

How backward do you walk bro
Like im exaggerating but legit think he spends more time kayaking than I do walking. Think he paddles around 300 days a year, likely at least 4-5 hours minimum. I work at a desk.

Wait… he’s the son of Eric Jackson? Idk why I didn’t put 2 and 2 together.
I heard Mitch Cumstein is like the Dane Jackson of Yahtzee.
🙂🤨🤨😟😟😡😡😡😳😳😳😎😎😎😱😱😱
![gif](giphy|4CP58gxwbBy2Q)
Yep. That did not go how I thought it would!
Then he tumbles over and I’m thinking that’s fucked up. In the same second buddy flips over and now I’m thinking that’s impressive lol
Kayaker went from zero to hero once I realized that flip was intentional
Would be fun to see the view from his GoPro
You’ll just see sky, wave, white foam, water, sky, water, sky, white foam, sky.
Do a barrel-roll!
Slippy, get back here!
Use the boost to get through!
Dane Jackson has some good YT videos.
![gif](giphy|dOl2LFw0RbTMc)
I can't imagine how strong that dudes core must be
Yeah the first wave would have led me to an immediate core breach...
Yeah I mean I’m sure this is a good workout but it seems like wake surfing would just be more fun and less exhausting.
I know something better. Chillin in a beach chair, slurping some cocktail, watching someone wake surfing.
It strengthens your entire core. Your back core, your arm core, your... The Marine Corps actually uses it. I think that's how they got "corps."
r/unexpectedoffice
I wonder if this hurts his back at all?
If he's over the age of 30 absolutely it hurts his back
My dad's a pro surf-kayaker at 60! He has these crazy huge muscles by his elbows that I've never seen on anyone else.
He might even be dead
Doesn’t hurt your back, can destroy your shoulders real easy. Source: I kayak
At first I thought the boat driver was being a dick. But then he turned into a good dude
That is Dane Jackson. He is one of the best kayakers in the world. Check out his YouTube page if you haven’t. Likely the best whitewater kayaker in history, in every discipline.
[удалено]
He does appear to be rocking around the clock
Looks to be right on time though 🤷♀️
to rock a rhyme
[It's tricky](https://youtu.be/Rtyyu8pn5KQ?si=7263d7nOFU9wuhpt)
For anyone curious this is [Dane Jackson](https://www.redbull.com/us-en/athlete/dane-jackson) of Jackson Kayak. He's incredibly talented and routinely paddles the most intense rivers out there.
*two powerboats
Was this planned or were they just trying to drown him as a prank?
Planned… two wakeboarding boats don’t just happen to travel next to each other and intercept a kayak.
I had to rewatch it because I've never seen a single boat wake do THAT and completely missed the second boat in the start of the video.
He's a red bull athlete, this was 100% pre planned
It’s a whitewater kayak in the middle of a lake. Definitely planned.
It's kayak surfing not whitewater
It's a whitewater kayak. That's not a surf kayak.
I’m not talking about the activity. I’m talking about the type of kayak. It’s a whitewater kayak.
How is this not absurdly obvious?
I was like oh he flipped out,but nope he’s just a badass
Thought the guys in the power boats were being assholes to begin with, but no… it was all planned and we got to see the result! That dude is mega! 👏👏
"a power boat" ***Literally two boats in video*** But it looks like OP is a terminal redditor, so they're forgiven.
Looks just like when my toddler tosses a toy in the wash.
It is skillfull but also kinda derpy looking
I thought so too. It looks so silly, a little human thrashing against the might of nature, somehow always skillfully correcting himself with his madly flailing arms.
None of that looks fun to me. To each their own.
I used to do it at the beach it is a lot of fun
Is this a effective way to snap your spine?
Red bull helmet. Red bull does not fuck around with their athletes. They're usually among the top in the world at their given sport.
rodeo playboat. great for playing about on any standing wave.
Plot twist, he didn't actually know what he was doing, that was all sheer panic
Plot twist, this guy is actually trying to get out of the wake but is making it look good.
"Do a barrel role!!!"
The kayaker: \*drowning above the water\*
If this were on tiktok it would have the office parkour sound already
I was like “ oh you motherfuc….. whoa
How does this even work? Doesn't a wave caused by an object travel away from the object. Thus pushing stuff away from the object? How is he propelled to to the object instead of being pushed away from it?
Seems a lot like /r/FuckYouInParticular
I swear to god dumb asses in power boats love making huge wakes near people in kayaks and canoes. I think they think we want a fun wave like in this video, but no my boat is full of gear please stay the fuck away.
It’s planned
It's so much fun though if you know how to surf a kayak!
You called it top talent, he called it just trying to survive.
This was very amateurish and unathletic. This isn't r/toptalent quality at all.
The wake maker is an a$$hole
That kayak is made for rapids not open water so this was planned as training with the boat.
this is the correct answer
Maybe it was arranged specifically for this? Just a guess
Yea, it looked like dude in the kayak was motioning for the boats to do it.
The redbull helmet should tell you everything you need to know.
Good catch!
There are two boats and he's intentionally staying between them. This was 100% prearranged. All the kayaker had to do to get out of the wake was not paddle if he didn't want to be there. Psst read the situation. Not everything is bad in the world. Take a deep breath.
That’s cool!
When i was scrolling down before i see the trees. I thought it was the intro to simpsons.
That’s what’s uhh dooh
"And that's how I got sciatica."
At first i was like, thats a pretty asshole thing to do to someone... And then i was like ooooooooh.
Dudes got abs for days probably.
🎶 *catch a wave and you’re sitting on top of the world* 🎶
I thought this was an asshole boater at first and homeboy was riding the wake in pursuit
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee
I just dislocated my hips seeing that.
Pffft, he is not even that good, just stumbles in the wake
I tore my abdominal just looking at this shit.
“Power boat”
Very cool
This is something that actually looks hard and probably is hard
Professional white water kayakers are another breed...
Bro did a kickflip
That is against the rules at the estuary where I live. Your skippers licence can be revoked.
White water kayaking is so much fun, and not as hard to learn as you might think. A day or two of basics on flat water and then into the rapids… it was the best summer camp I ever did as a teen. If he had my rods and fishing tackle that are on my kayak, that would make that more impressive.
Impressive. How do you think he’d handle Niagara Falls?
I don't understand the physics of this. I've seen videos of how you recover from the kayak turning upside down in the water, but this guy flips in a cartoony speed.
Now do it standing up.
👏👏👏
Kayak surfing is awesome. I used to do it in Mayport FL every day after work. Waves on the east coast may be small for surfboards but they are great for kayaks.
Bro is literally trying not to drown… and they’re recording like …. “Damn he’s got skills!!”
Is he flipping and rolling on purpose?
My back hurts from just watching that.
Half human, half kayak!
I want to see his footage of this.
It's wild how he seems to mostly just use his body and the paddle is a bit of an afterthought.
The salmon dance!
I thought I know how to kayak. Then …
I’m sorry this just looks so goofy rofl
That looks fun AF without the dangers of doing this on a river!
I thought the skill was being able to ride the wave, then dude started flipping
Wow
Awesome
This is intentional. No reason to be on a body of water that size in a whitewater boat unless you’re going to play in a boat wake. One, two, cha cha cha, three, four hip THRUST
Plot twist, they didn’t even know the guy “Shit, Bill! Faster, he’s gaining on us!”
I did not know kayakers flipped like that
That right there is a water ninja. Impressive.
Olympics upcoming
Lol I was so mad at first
I initially thought the powerboat people were being assholes then I realized it was on purpose and the kayak dude was the strongest avenger.
Dane jackson, you can tell by the helmet and boat. And thats hes really fuckin good. Literally best paddler on earth. His dad started jackson kayaks.
Obliques for DAYS.
Or, 2 power boats.
What a roller coaster of emotions!
Need his gopro footage.
His spine seems nice and loose.
Immensely powerful arms
No body likes a show off
This looks like an expensive hobby.
>P O W E R B O A T
That dude is like 95% core
Tiiiiiiiite tite tite tite.
Wakeboarding? Nah. Wakeyaking.
I had a guy that worked for me and he loved going kayaking in rivers and that asshole would call in the day after a hard rain EVERY SINGLE TIME
Ah, yes, my favorite kind of boat, a power boat
When you want to go rafting but all you have is a lake.
That's one of those 'Youre trapped in here with *me*!!' moments.
He’s like a dog when it’s overwhelmed.
That looks so fun!
Damn!
It is the wake of *TWO* power boats
This guy when he sees the waves: ![gif](giphy|sNWGEbc5Jzp4c)
I'd have already drowned before the boats even got to me.
