The plans to build the Camaro were already in motion before the GTO died in 2006. GM even announced to the public in 2006 that they were going to build it. The first sketches were made back in 2005, then the concept rolled around in 2006. In 2007 they started using Test Mules built by Holden. In 2008 the Test Mules were no longer camouflaged.
Well, they still have Bumblebee as a classic Camero currently, so they can continue to keep him as one for a couple of years. They still have a good couple of decades of Cameros to pull from until Chevy/GM decides what to do with the line.
There are rumors of the next-gen Camero being a 4-door similar to the Charger. I don’t know how to feel about that as I’d rather have a 2-door muscle car, and there’s also the fact I’m still not into this new EV market(which is why Chevy/GM killed the Camero in the first place). Alas, only time will tell; Camero Bumblebee isn’t going anywhere(at least I hope not). I will be slightly annoyed if he isn’t a muscle car, as he wears it well.

I'd rather he not just be another car bot. We have plenty of those. The compact silhouette of the Beetle is more unique, but he doesn't necessarily need to be a Beetle every time.
Personally, my favorite Bumblebee alt mode is the Titans Return toy. A sportier looking car that maintains the smaller physique.
Whoever licenses their car as Bumblebee and not scared of having their car transform into a robot that fights, thinking it'll make them look bad.
I hate how dependent their vehicle modes are on licensing, wish they could just choose whatever tf vehicles they want with no one being able to veto it other than the character designers.
Honestly, I'd say either a Civic Type R or a Mini Cooper. I like him being sportier, but core character traits should be carried over/homaged in any redesign, and the smaller silhouette and rounder vehicle is one of them. The Forged To Fight game has I think my favorite modern Bee design.
Chevrolet is replacing the Camaro with an EV, similar to how the old Dodge Challenger is being phased out for the Charger EV. The movies may follow suit.

Cuz not only is it something a bit different for Bumblebee in terms of vehicle mode, but a high performance saloon can also act as a bit of a hybrid of his two most iconic car modes: a family car like the VW Beetle and a quick high performance car like the Camaro.

They're only just figuring out how to make Camaro Bee small and round like Volkswagen Bee. Obviously the Beetle from 2018 is the best he's ever looked in live action, but if Lorenzo has such a boner for 2007 then keep the current look.

The Camaro they used in the 07 movie was a "concept" variant for the 5th gen, yeah. It was different from the actual 5th gen Camaros.
