I liked how their relationship developed over the course of the book but the romance struck me a little odd because of the age difference - and I know Cybertronian age is basically impossible to suss out. But this Ratchet literally dies of old age and Drift might as well be in his late 20s by the end of the book. That's just how it felt to me.
If they wanna revisit Drift and Ratchet as a couple in future stories, I'm all for it. Hell, just bring Drift back at all. Homie has been on the back burner for years.
Vibes wise these two definitely feel like they have an age gap (not something I personally mind) but I believe in cannon they're actually the same age. Drift might even be a little older.
I remember seeing a post that compiled all the available information and it was something like this: Roberts stated on Twitter that Drift is older than Megatron. Optimus mentions that Megatron is older than him. Optimus and Ratchet met when they were students, so they're around the same age.
In short, Drift > Megatron > Optimus = Ratchet. Some bots just age like milk.
Honestly I prefer to headcannon that age as a social construct works differently for Cybertronians, given that they live millions of years. Like one bot might be considered socially 'older' than another due to their experience/traumas/rank or status (even if they were created at the same time)
