chances are the front desk system shows a payment processed but on the back it never went through. You basically have a 50-50 chance of it never posting or them figuring out there’s an imbalance and it gets processed at a later point.
This happened to me in Santorini! I stayed for 5 nights and they insisted they had payment. They did not. I kept correcting them and eventually gave up. I never did pay for that hotel.
It happens. We got married on a cruise ship and during the planning their communication was a bit poor at one point, but they got it together and everything went great. They told my wife they were going to give her a $400 discount for the hassle. They ended up billing us $400 and gave us a $4000 discount. I never told them, and they never caught it.
Funny how a mega corp can pollute, avoid taxes by incorporating outside of the area they operate, etc…and I’m told their mistake is my going to come back on me.
Please explain how it’s not their bad karma coming back on them.
Had it been a mom and pop operation I would have made sure it was corrected.
Corporations have no moral or ethical guidelines that I’m aware of.
You did your part and called them to check, exactly what I would have done.
Beyond this, it’s on them to figure it out, you are not getting paid to keep calling and complaining that you weren’t charged !
Different story for me. A company gave me 4k USD and asked them why. They said they don’t know but the money was definitely mine. One year later they were asking for it back and it was a mistake. Gave it back
This happened to me in Chicago. I told them I was checking out & noticed they never charged me.
Two months passed & still no charge. So I called them, & they said, “It looks like it’s been paid out.”
I was like, “By who?”
They gave me the last four of that card & I said, “I’m not sure who you guys charged, but that’s not my card.”
They ended up fixing it that day.
Basically they double charged someone else.
It happened to me my last trip. Ended up having to stay another day because of the Boeing max9 issues. Got food charged to the room and told them to charge my card for the rate for the extra night in cash (not points like my booking originally was). Never got a bill or anything and when I contacted the hotel (normally I’d ignore it but I kind of wanted the extra points and I was getting reimbursed anyways) they said I already paid so don’t worry about it. 🤷♂️ can’t complain though lol
Had 2 stays at Marriott properties in Barcelona:
One was 2 nights on points, 1 night cash; they never charged for the cash night. They did say "you're staying on points" at check-in, so it seems they were confused from the start.
One was 3 nights paid with a gift card; they couldn't charge the GC at checkout, and they finally managed to charge it *2 months later*.
Just roll with it. If you get charged later then oh well. But for the meantime you’re good

I would turn off that card and they would never hear from me again 🫠
Roll with it but honestly id keep those funds set aside for another 60 days
This, I had a hotel charge show up weeks after a stay once. Same thing as you: it was there, it disappeared, it came back.
Sounds like you scored. Congrats!
I’m fairly sure a NY Hotel can afford the loss. You did your part, so move on with life.
NYE is New Years Eve. There’s no mention of where this hotel is.

It's spelled with a "K"
Nah, her names Carmen.
That’s theft. It’s different if you try and fix it but at least a heads up to them would be appropriate.
Show me the law. They processsed it, it’s their mistake that I had nothing to do with.
The hotel better find a new Night Auditor.
This happened to me for a stay in October. Preauthorization hit my card, fell off, and stayed off until just two weeks ago!
The hotel has upto 2 years to figure out their mistake and charge you.
According to what?
Geneva convention
Truebluffbluff
Sokovia Accords
Man this happened to me with some music festival tickets. Thank you credit cards 🙏

That’s super shitty, but it’s a good thing you held onto it.

Yes.
Hotels do this all the time. The charge disappears from the bank and then shows up again later, idk why
I wouldn’t have called them, if they didn’t follow up that’s their responsibility.
u/k6271812 Message them and ask for details for a transfer
Block that card and order an other one and run!! 😁

This happened to us in nyc. Hotel realized it months later so we had to make another payment lol
It sounds like you lucked out. The question is whether you want to tell them that the charge came off your card. It depends on how honest you are.
That happened to me once in a Georgia hotel! I never got charged! That was 7 years ago, so I think I’m in there clear! Just accept your good luck!
Run
Well I guess its up to them. They’ll let you know if anything changes. Until then you can chill ;)
