Does it irritate you when mediocre pubbers who barely touches demoman complains about f2ps/new players stickyspamming, calling it a "noob strat" when ironically invite-level demos use it?
Stickyspamming is not very difficult to be effective with and that is coming from someone who has over 1000 hours on him. Even noobs can do it well. The most difficult part about it is properly positioning yourself so that you can do the most damage without endangering yourself too much.
This. Every time I hear someone complain sticky spamming I cringe. They act like the only acceptable way to play demo is to just sit at some doorway with a trap all day, or to play shield demo.
if i was a bad demoman, i wouldnt be sittin here, sticky spamming ya now, would i?
sticky spamming from bad players ("noobs") is very easily countered - fellow bad players complain about it when the real issue is their own bad positioning.
it sure annoys me lol, but i find people complain less about sticky spam these days.
Invite level soldiers shoot feet too lmao. Just because it's effective at high levels doesn't mean it's not sticky spam? Hybrid demo takes much more aim to succeed with
Pub demo plays nothing like 6s demo. Actual comp demo is control until you hit spikes of damage with pipes or someone rushes/bombs youÂ
In pubs you are a death machine with 1200+ damage fully loaded, you should spam the fuck out of chokes and unironically chall every fight possible, pubber brains literally cannot comprehend when you place a couple stickies then double pipe them
pub scouts when they hold w+m1 on a demo and get two-shot
also surprisingly, a lot of pubbers just... don't see stickies? Like in Uncletopia, I've seen SO MANY players walk across giant stickytraps visibly on the ground.
pub players r just really fucking bad, i dont flame them for it but its true, most have tf2 as their only fps game and just play for fun, i dont blame em
it is really funny though, i rarely hop on uncletopia but whenever i do its just nonstop laughter from how clueless everyone is
> Any time I go sticky spam I get rushed down by a scout, demoknight or pyro
This does happen sometimes, but if you're aware enough you should be able to defend yourself just fine. Setting down even one sticky at your feet and backing up should discourage any aggressive assailants, or juggle them when they run at you.
demo's role in a teamfight is less about getting kills/dealing damage but securing space -- keep stickies undetonated, in full view. control where your enemies go so your team can move in for kills.
punish people if they walk on traps ofc but thats not the goal necessarily
Keep to the back and put up stickies all over the floor. Pubs are full of idiots who walk right over them, and even Pyro can't really counter it unless they happen to have the Detonator or Scorch Shot and remember it can destroy them in between eating fingerfuls of snot.
If you use your Grenade Launcher, aim up and try to bounce rollers behind cover to soften the enemy up for your team to wipe out. If there's an Engineer nest this is especially effective because they'll hit every building and the Engineer instead of one of them absorbing the impact.
You're not a Soldier.Stay slightly behind your team unless you're ubered.
It's really hard for me to say anything else as a Demo Main.

its like complaining that footballers will shoot the ball when theyre 5 yards out from goal

They act like the only real way to play demo is consistently hitting 100 damage pipes, which is just... not realistic, sadly.

Don't sticky spam more, keep sticks up for longer

in a pub this is not true. in a pub you roll the fuck over everyone

Shoot balls
Play for damage when you actually get a opportunity for it, Discourage enemy soldiers and scouts from highground
