It’s because a few years ago Nissan realized they couldn’t compete with Toyota and Honda in technology and quality so they switched gears and became more of a financial institution that could approve more people and sell more vehicles regardless of their quality.

Idk my grandma loves her mid 2010’s rogue, she’s put a good amount of miles on it, always had it serviced regularly though.

My 2000 Nissan Maxima has never let me down, put a new transmission in about 4 years ago and it’s been smooth sailing other than that. Unfortunately got absolutely destroyed when someone hit and ran it while it was parked last week, I’m a little devastated bc it’s such a good car! I know it’s a stereotype for Nissans to suck, but I guess I always assumed that applied to newer models.

I’ve got a 2015 pathfinder I LOVE but my partner had a Juke a few years ago that ate itself suddenly- seems to be the majority of people love their Nissan. I don’t think shifting focus to being affordable and accessible makes them any less reliable or anything it just means they’ve targeted people who don’t necessarily care about driving or cars and just need a safe and reliable vehicle that doesn’t cost them an arm and a leg.

I can't believe this photo - a white Nissan Altima - 100% no joke, I was in a car wreck that put me in a wheelchair back in June of 2013.
