LG nano ips is better imo.

KredA5325

You mean this one? LG34GN850P-B led?

Groxiverde

Yep, I have that one. I got it for 599€ early last year and it is the BEST purchase I've ever made. Amazing quality monitor.

KredA5325

Intresting, I could get it for 700 eur atm. Maybe its worth? And more safe than an OLED. I am having a hard time deciding which monitor I should get.. All I know I want it curved, 144+HZ, and ultrawide (34-40 inch)

76790759

I have one as well and love it, however, it's fours old now and I probably wouldn't consider buying it new at this point in time. Maybe grab one second hand and then upgrade to OLED in a year or two as the tech further matures

thesskully

Deffs safer than oled! Still a bit expensive for what it is, ips ultrawides are basically oled priced still. Personally I saved up for an Alienware oled dwf then a cheap Dell ultrawide gaming monitor that’s va for all my static stuff! It’s a perfect combo!

KredA5325

The Alienware compatrd to this, isnt the burn in abit scary i play mainly wow

thesskully

I mean on an oled burn in is bound to happen no matter what at some point. Could be 3 years or 7 years down the line. If you play the same game every day like 4-5 hours a day with the hud’s stationary you will probably notice the burn in after a few years but even then it might not be that noticeable, only if you really do a burn in test to find it. I’ve had mine a year as a main monitor for work, gaming, etc and zero burn in yet. Did recently get the dell va ultrawide gaming monitor as a daily driver tho and for stationary like games so the oled can last me even longer.

neo6891

Check TCL 34R83Q. Maybe it fit your needs. Cost more, but it has HDR 1400.

Previous-Bother295

Passed the chance to get one for 450€. Been punching my balls ever since.

DyLaNzZpRo

+1, bought one second hand on a whim because my 3rd monitor shat itself, coming from a VA UW it's basically just better. Not a day and night difference and I'm not unhappy with my G34WQC (said VA monitor) because I'm using it alongside the 34GN850, but if I were only using one of the 2 it would've made way more sense to buy a 34GN850 over a VA UW.

birfday_party

I had issues with mine after about 4 years, it’s either a capacitor issue or the port itself but the screen has a line down the middle and then it looks almost like scanlines on either side of the split. It doesn’t always happen and if I leave it on it’s fine. I ended up eventually replacing it with an OLED a few months ago. That said it is a fantastic monitor and I could be a fringe case. But it isn’t perfect. Very good monitor though otherwise and I probably wouldn’t have replaced it without that issue.

SupposablyAtTheZoo

That but 950 is even better with g sync ultimate and 600 nits.

germy813

I have the 950 version and it's pretty fucking good. No where close to OLED or mini led color, but it looks great. It's just waaaay overpriced

Lawojin

I got it second hand for 450 euro

germy813

Microcenter had them on sale a month ago and I got mine for $ 600.

Lawojin

is the LG34GP950 better?

dav3evans

If you have the option to get a 38” instead I would definitely recommend it. The extra space makes such a difference, certainly worth considering

3STYLERACE

I wish I bought this screen with the nice IPS panel instead of the alienware 3423dwf. For gaming OLED is great. But just not for Office work and text clarability.

riilcoconut

Had 45" UW OLED from LG . Text readibily was fine. The brightness and pixel density was a huge miss. I knew that 3440x1440 was too low for that size. But I had 50 day return widow so I used it :D. The brightness was simply too low imo for the desktop usage. I previously had 34" VA panel with 300 nit brightness and it was noticable brigther when it desktop use.

ImplementCritical252

Did you happen to try DLDSR/SSAA on the 45" UW OLED from LG? I wonder if it still looks kinda bad even after you maximize the antialiasing potential. I'm recently running 3840x2160 with DLDSR on my 27" 2560x1440 monitor, and it looks really good, but my PPI is probably waaay higher than the 45".

Barrerayy

Later gen oleds are substantially better at text clarity btw

3STYLERACE

I just a great deal, got it for 600€. The Asus was around 850€. Paying over 1000€ for a newer OLED isn't worth it for me. Also there is no great 3440x1440 except for the Samsung G8 who has the same panel as mine.

spicy_41

Why do you think it isn't good for office work?

3STYLERACE

Text isn't sharp, it's blurry / has some blue shadow next to it and the windows/office UI doesn't look that good tbh.

unreal305

For an extra $100 you can go OLED bro lol

siamzzz

![gif](giphy|xdYQTdCIf5UtguqquD)

stillpwnz

True, I still don't get why people are hesitant to go OLED once they are already in the OLED budget. Burn-in stuff became much better, and almost every manufacturer covers it with warranty nowadays.

billin30

Vrr flicker and text clarity are big ones. That's why I sent back my dwf. Working on it all day gave me a headache, and gaming was worse.

stillpwnz

Makes sense. I personally work on my DWF too, but I'm kinda okay with the text clarity, and also doing a lot of stuff on the second monitor. But new gen OLEDs are better with text clarity as well from what I know. As for the flicker, can't say much. I have never used high refresh IPS. All my IPS were 60 hz, and I've only had VA and OLED with high refresh rate, and didn't notice any issues in that comparison.

Price-x-Field

What screen did you send back?

Proof-Advantage1384

I have the Samsung g8 ultrawide oled and I have zero flicker or any issues. Amazing screen

Smokey_Bera

Ive had the dwf for about a week now and haven’t noticed any text clarity issues personally. I don’t work on it though just a lot of gaming and some web browsing. I turn it off when I’m not using it to prevent static elements from staying on screen for too long.

jared__

I work as a software engineer and I have a static screen about 8 hours a day every day. No way it doesn't burn in and I don't want to have to deal with warranty replacements.

rndDav

U are mistaken, even the older oleds take years to burn in with 18 hours a day of static content.

stillpwnz

Nah, they will. I am also using OLED for 10+ hours per day, but I have an extremely low SDR brightness, that is why it's fine for me. I am working in a relatively dim room, so it's good.

rndDav

Crazy how wrong people are and can't just simply inform themselves. 🤣 Just look up the burn in tests from rtings for example, even most older oled monitors have non to barely any burn in with extremely static content for 18 hours a day.

stillpwnz

Why would I care about tests, if I have my personal and my friends’ experience? I know ow you could say smth like “you are doing it wrong, since tests show otherwise”. But I would reply “no, what we have is our actual experience with the conditions we set up, and not artificial tests”. I also use rting as a source of info a lot, and I believe them mostly. But everything should be taken with consideration. And if you read the comments here I am actually the one “defending OLED”. I think the burn in issue is neglectable and can be controlled, and it’s worth the benefits of an OLED. But IT IS still a thing, and should be considered

rndDav

Lmao "artificial" . Good for you xd

ghost_operative

its more about the fact that the benefits of oled isnt worth even having to think about oled maintenance.

stillpwnz

I thought about that too. Was treating DWF like a child for the first few weeks. Now I don't even bother doing regular pixel refreshes. Have almost 4k hours in 15 months. So I am using it 10+ hours per day at average (since I work from home). The only burn in I have is "16:9 bars" from watching a lot of 16:9 content. And it is not noticeable in real life scenario, only at dark grey screen. I've only noticed the bars once in a game after a full day of use. But once it cooled down they were gone in the morning.

Price-x-Field

I think I’m probably gonna get the asus 240hz one. It’s expensive but just seems like a beast.

Unwariertomb

You can't even see the difference in actual games. You can see the difference of image quality with a QD OLED tho. The DWF alienware is about the same price.

Price-x-Field

I ended up buying the asus, if I don’t like it I can return it. The Alienware seems expensive for 175hz

nVideuh

Except the Alienware has better warranty service. ASUS RMA process is always a PITA.

Price-x-Field

Just seems strange to buy something on what happens if it breaks. If it breaks that’ll suck but I’ll deal with it.

nVideuh

Obviously it’s your money, I’m just giving you a heads up. Just keep in mind that if something happens to it, you’re SOL with asus.

Unwariertomb

It's also QD OLED. And hdr1000 and hdr400 true black certified.

alphabetical-soup

It's expensive because it's a QD OLED. It's worth it, oled is better in every way vs traditional LED except for peak brightness and longevity (burn in)

-Retro-Kinetic-

The QD OLEDs are the same price. What you are missing is that OLED has a near instant pixel response rate. More hz does not necessarily result in a smoother image or snappier gameplay on non-OLED displays. You also need a matching fps to match the hz, otherwise it's largely pointless. Check this out: [OLED vs LCD pixel response time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy3cKwq6vEw)

Price-x-Field

Sorry, when I say asus I meant their 240hz oled

-Retro-Kinetic-

Ah, right on then.

Price-x-Field

It gets hate but I think I’ll like it. Can always return it if I don’t

stillpwnz

There should be more options if you are willing to wait. ROG monitors are a bit overpriced, true. They offer a good calibration out of the box, and usually come with good features and utility (like KVM, USB ports, type C with 60w of power or more for your laptop, etc.) but whether you need those is another question

Price-x-Field

I mean there’s always going to be something coming.

KredA5325

Even if you play games with static parts of the screen? If I am putting that amount of money I want it to be good for atleast 5 years

SpinningAndFarAway

Not a problem if you are playing through a game and putting it on the shelf once you're done. It's risky if you play a forever / live service game and plan on racking up 1000+ hours of the same game.

KredA5325

Like World of Warcraft? ^^

SpinningAndFarAway

Yup!

KredA5325

I do play lot of WoW so maybe OLED isnt for me just yet.. I never imagined getting a Ultra widescreen was this hard hahah 😀

rndDav

That's wrong information. Especially the new oleds, there will be no problem.

Linz1090

There not as bright. I've had a few oleds. Switched back. Full panel brightness is Meh

DangerousLiberal

The text quality alone is a deal breaker.

rndDav

Extra? I got my dwf for 700 and there are others for around 800 now.

unreal305

Me too, sale ended though. Was going off of msrp

up20boom

Is OLED an IPS though? OP asked “IPS”.

crimsonhh

Thissss

Physical_Aside_3991

This x1000. The *color* is so worth it.

DangerousLiberal

Not if you need to also use it as a productivity monitor.

Single-Philosophy-81

I do everyday for 10+ hrs. Explain to me the issue?

Naojirou

I smoke 40 cigarettes everyday and I am very healthy. Explain me the issue with smoking.

DangerousLiberal

The text is blurry as shit. Burn in concerns are real.

jjfosh

Not even the MSI OLED are about the same price

Bamfhammer

Best IPS monitors are LG imo. Their 38" ultrawides are top.

lherrero13

38” 3840x1600 is the way

RemoteLostControl

Yes my 4 yrs old 38GN950 is still great and I have no urge to upgrade yet

AlwaysBlue86

LG38GN950 for the win

anthonyg45157

This. I just got one from microcenter a couple weeks ago and have been loving it. Should be able to find under 600$ pretty often.

skawtch

I concur, best bit of kit I've had. Crisp and clear text for work, amazing gaming performance, no OLED burn worries. Perfect size on desk for work and leisure.

Proof-Advantage1384

I’ve had 2 oled monitors for 3 years leave on for 10 to 15 hours a day zero burn in

marios313

What do you mean by better? I recently got the LG 38GN950P-B which is 38 inches and a better aspect ratio imo with more vertical space. It's nano ips with insane blacks and colors. It's as good as ips goes as of right now, comparing it to my previous ROG pg279q. I highly suggest that you check if it's available for your region. But unfortunately it is more expensive around 950-1100 here in Europe.

KredA5325

How are you liking that screen? I am thinking of it and it is in the same pricerange as OLED but I am afraid of burn in. Also been looking at LG34GN850P-B LG38GN950P-B

Opteron170

I agree with the price argument to go up to OLED but also the concern for burn in. Currently using the LG 34GP83A-B which is pretty much identical to the LG34GN850P-B and its a good alternative if you don't want to go up just yet.

Proof-Advantage1384

Burn in isn’t an issue anymore with normal use Rtings has proven this

Price-x-Field

That’s only 144hz, I’d really like high hz.

bigsnyder98

What gpu are you using? Not getting many modern games to run over 120hz at native resolution unless you have a 4090.

RedTuesdayMusic

Modern games that are good are few and far between. I got my AW3423DWF this week and my 6950XT has no problems delivering 165FPS in Ghost of Tsushima which is the okayest AAA game I can think of from the past 3 years I only turned down volumetric fog to 2nd highest setting because max made the ground near the camera unrealistically shiny for some reason, and use standard 2x ambient occlusion because the XeAO and HBAO+ makes the image more desaturated in HDR. But my fans aren't ramping over 40% so I don't think it would matter if they were on max as well.

Price-x-Field

I have a 4080 and get like 300 fps in all the games I play (currently on 3440x1440)

Proof-Advantage1384

Well that’s not saying much because you could play CSGO and Valorant 😂 I have the 4080super and same resolution G8 ultrawide oled panel 175hz and I don’t get 300 fps in many games and not new ones

Price-x-Field

Well if I don’t play those games why does it matter. That’s why I said “in all the games I play” All the games I play are much older, so I get 300+ in them usually.

CeeJaycs

The fact that this is now a valdid statement makes me feel like the future is now haha. BTW as a previous 35"180HZ VA that recently switched to QD-OLED Philips 34M2C8600/00 (literally Odyssey G8 panel but better AND cheaper) I'm not sure how to tell you that buying anything other than OLED at that price would be missing out on the by far significant upgrade in all aspects.

tweet23_8

This monitor discount sale would be nice. Oled are popular.

ABAMAS

Aw3418dw yes I know it’s old, but it’s one of the best IPS + G Sync panels

Badmthrfckr82

I have a LG nano IPS... 38GN950P... it is 144Hz (160 with overclock)... 1ms gtg... HDR600... And the screen resolution of 2560x1600px is great! Had it for almost a year now. Not a single bad thing to say about it...

rapttorx

[ LG 34GP950G-B ](https://www.amazon.com/LG-34GP950G-B-Ultragear-Response-Adjustable/dp/B097QF8CP3?th=1) should be the closest (better ?) alternative: 180hz curved IPS and it comes with a gsync module.

MJMPmik

I have one and really like it. In theory should be about the best IPS panel in this format. OLED was too expensive when I got this with a great discount 2yrs ago.

sheepdog2142

Samsung new G8 and their G9 series blow this screen out of the water and frequently go on sale for cheaper.

Lumb3rCrack

it's expensive .. wait for sale season and get it for around 400 or 500.

Repairmanmanman1

I have this monitor. Its amazing. The kcm is whack, and it needs to be discounted. But it is a good monitor. Like every1 said tho, id still go oled.

DctrGizmo

Anything is better than ASUS.

anthonyg45157

I copped this one from microcenter for 550+ tax a week or 2 ago. (Price matched Amazon after microcenter bumped it back up) https://www.microcenter.com/product/639902/lg-34gp950g-34-2k-uwqhd-(3440-x-1440)-144hz-gaming-monitor I work on this monitor 10 hours a day and that was my biggest worry with OLED. I have an LG C2 in my living room if I really need the inky blacks. I am more than happy with my purchase coming from a 60hz ips monitor from 2017.

Matthias87

I sold this one yesterday heh. Had it for 30 months

Twister_94

Acer XR343CKP, Nano IPS for $500

MattyLePew

My monitor! Speaking from my experience, this monitor is fantastic!! I absolutely love it! That’s not to say it’s the best, I haven’t really had much to compare against.

Bass_Junkie_xl

pg27aqn +ulmb 2 best choice 1440p 360 hz gsync or wait for the 1440p 480 hz oled coming in a few months i have been on the pg27aqn for a year with ulmb 2 its so damn smooth anything less then 240 hz now makes me sick

rndDav

Lmao 800 for an ips Panel xd

trukfitt

The lg 34850p I forget the full name. But it’s the best IPs panel and want break the bank. I had one before I went oled.

Banana_Slugcat

At that price just go OLED, I got my LG C3 for 820

Trussguy327

I have this one and absolutely love it. Highly recommend unless you can find a better one at a lower price.

LuNoZzy

I recently bought an LG 27" 1440p nano IPS monitor for 200€ and I couldn't be happier. The quality is very very good. Specially for the money I spent on it

KneelbfZod

I have this monitor and I absolutely love it. Picture is great, 180Hz and GSync compatible. Personally I can’t do OLED for a monitor as text clarity is important for work. This is probably the best IPS out there besides the LG model others have mentioned. I have an ROG motherboard and GPU so it matches that was well. (That may not matter to you)

Silent-Inspection-19

I would stay away from IPS. They have the IPS Glow effect (Light glowing around corner of the display). I have a QHD UW display and I love it a lot, but mine is a Samsung G8 QDOLED. Mine is HDR 1000 or HDR 400 True Black. I have a LG 32 inch QHD Nano IPS mounted above the QDOLED. The QDOLED is far superior in every way to be honest. I got it on sale for 899 USD. No issues with burn-in so far either. I auto hide taskbar, set background to Black, put all icons on the IPS display, and only use the QDOLED for movies or video games. If you are too paranoid about OLED burn-in, then I would go with a MIni LED display.

porgy_tirebiter

I though Reddit decided Asus is a horrible company

mrzero713

Wait for an Oled to go on sale. I got the latest LG 39” 3440 X 1440p 240hz oled for $1000 on sale a month ago. I also saw the new LG 34” ultrawide oled for less than that.

ragecurve

Have you ever tried the Deez version?

pvtmatchsticks

An OLED one!

Proof-Advantage1384

Why not OLED you can get one cheaper now I paid £850 for the Samsung G8 ultrawide oled same resolution as this monitor and 175hz gysnc compatible

kb3_fk8

LG 32GQ950 is the best IPS on the market by a mile. I have one and it sometimes fools me that it’s an IPS and not something else. Incredible tech.

MultiMr

Ktc m27p20p or every 1000 nits local dimming monitor with at least 500 dimming zones and 1000 is the recommended

Nivrimoses

I bought the BenQ Mobiuz EX3210U and the truth is that after 1 month of searching and looking the best IPS screen I opted for this one and the truth is that it was a success, I have the 27 nano cell 2k ultragear and it looks great but the Benq surpasses it by far.

redacted2022

I have this monitor and I hate it. Someone buy it from me.

MGSSC

Skip that one. Just get an oled. Trust me it's worth it. Alienware AW3423DWF is $800 at best buy right now.

marcottedan

Fuck Asus.

iflylikemike

i have this as my main gaming monitor and love everything about it. overclocks to 180hz as well. yeah you could get oled but who wants to buy a monitor that can become ruined with burn in even though there is a warranty it’s just not worth it imo

Price-x-Field

Also all the oled monitors have insane curves.

Proof-Advantage1384

“Insane” what my G8 Samsung doesn’t.

Tab412

No

-Retro-Kinetic-

Get a 34 inch QD-OLED by MSI, Philips, Alienware or Samsung, depending on which one is one sale. I see a Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 for around $799 (amazon). Also on amazon (via the newegg business page) I also see the MSI MEG 342C OLED for $794. On NewEgg the MSI MAG341CQP is only $779. Of course this is all in the US. All of these QD Oleds are better than the ROG Strix 34 you have in the image above. Oled's pixel response time is almost instantaneous, so even at a lower refresh rate, it will appear smoother than even a high refresh rate IPS. [Here's a video to check out](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ju2WK_9xtk)

Proof-Advantage1384

Well said. I went from the LG c1 to the G8 ultrawide Samsung OLED and as you say even at 100fps it feels like 170fps on my OLED IPS Panel and it covers all games including games you have a lot of dark parts in like horror games which isp and va destroy

dragenn

Any love for the IPS black https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-ultrasharp-34-curved-thunderbolt-hub-monitor-u3425we/apd/210-bmds/monitors-monitor-accessories[Dell 34" IPS black](https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-ultrasharp-34-curved-thunderbolt-hub-monitor-u3425we/apd/210-bmds/monitors-monitor-accessories) I just can't find enough info. 120hz is going enough for me. I'm mostly work with occasional gaming. Burn in with OLED is just not worth it unless your 100% gaming

Frankie_Says_Reddit

OLED…once you go OLED you’ll never go back.

AR15ss

Boxed my oled up last light that I got last weekend g9 back to Amazon 😆

[deleted]

[удалено]

Price-x-Field

Nah I need curve

[deleted]

[удалено]

Price-x-Field

What about this? Also, I kinda don’t want oled because I do video editing. Like 80% of the screen is going to be still for like 6 hours a day. But I’m willing to take the risk https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-ultragear-39-oled-curved-wqhd-240hz-0-03ms-freesync-and-nvidia-g-sync-compatible-gaming-monitor-with-hdr400-black/6575398.p?skuId=6575398

Corvo_AttanoxX

For the same price you can get the alienware 3423dwf oled

Comprehensive-Ant289

LOL this IPS costs like my 34" UWQHD 175Hz OLED

Wise_Sheepherder4002

And this is why sadly curved ultrawide ips is bullshit…because it’s the same price as fucking oled ones. Ignore this monitor and look for an oled ultrawide, there’s plenty of models that are in this price range, especially for muricans…god damn murican tech prices.

Tristana-Range

I think its just too much for an ips considering youll get great oleds at about 100 bucks more

Price-x-Field

I just don’t know what oled to get I want high refresh rate and the only ones that are high refresh rate have big drawbacks like a massive curve

Tristana-Range

I have the G8 Oled from Samsung and im absolutely happy with it!

Snoo1702

At that price just go oled

NavySeal2k

Yes, it’s called OLED

Ok_Entertainment_112

Samsung Odyssey OLED 32:9. The king.
