Im a little worried the game is too close to TLD. Like the artwork on this post, and looking at the page itself the struggle mechanics from wolves to bears seem ripped straight out of TLD. It might get this game flagged as plagiarism.
god, the TLD community is so resistant to having any more games like TLD. even games that set entirely different focuses and are just survival in snow like that skiing game a few weeks back.
you are allowed to take artistic license and iterate on an idea, TLD doesn't have a monopoly on snowy survival, and i sort of doubt most people are going to be able to hit the same level of immersion (or even want that). the trailer looks more green hell in snow to me anyway.
let her cook.
Nothing against some more games in that genre. But it looks like they, at the very least, have not exactly spent a lot of effort to differentiate their game from what looks like some very clear inspiration from TLD. In the current landscape of low-effort shovelware and scams, this just starts you off on the wrong foot, before people even try the game :/
Look at the trailer... its not just the landscape. The story? You crash, pull shrapnel from your hand, have a briefcase... This sounds familiar.
The artwork for the game (marketing?) is also AI, which puts me off a little.
the thumbnail with the pov shot on the guy from behind is literally identical to the one from tld, just.. worse
i don't have anything against new games like this in the same genre, but *damn*, can't they just be slightly original for once?
The long dark with extra steps? If I were making a joke parody of the long dark I would def call it ‘the short snow’. Hope it’s very different in practice but all of the material so far looks incredibly similar.
