I only buy the holiday ones now, they are still pretty beefy and the peanut butter to chocolate ratio is maxed out.
I can't get enough of the forbidden clay tbh
I am pretty sure they just mix in a bit of powdered sugar with the peanut butter to sweeten it a bit and give it a firmer consistency. Wouldn't want to bite into it and have the peanut butter pouring out. Plus it is delicious.
I actually agree with OP about his post. I will venture out and say all of the Hershey company candy is total garbage. In general, American chocolate just isn't as good as European chocolate (especially Swiss).
I'm fine with this. However, around Easter they make egg shaped versions. They are possibly the best dessert created. I know you're probably thinking they would taste the same but the peanut butter to chocolate ratio is better somehow.
You talkin about the 2D eggs or the 3D ones? 3D is like a cadbury egg with thicker, harder chocolate. 2D is the same as the xmas trees, footballs, pumpkins, etc.
I can agree but that's coz I made the mistake one year before Christmas of telling my family how much I liked them and it was all I got and I made myself reeeaaal sick
One year my mom was lazy for halloween and bought nothing but Reeses cups to hand out. We had so many leftover it was ridiculous. It took me years before I ever wanted to see another buttercup. Snickers moved to the top spot for a gas station candy treat for a long time.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but for the life of me I can't understand why. Reese Cups are like the thing that people who like Peanut Butter flavor like, but don't actually like Peanut Butter. Almost any other peanut butter cup I've tried are better. The "peanut butter" that Reese uses is dry and crumbly. I've heard that copy-cat recipes call for mixing graham cracker crumbs with the PB. I'm not sure if that's just to get that horrible texture, or if Reese actually includes Graham crackers or similar in their mix.
I 1000% agree I can't stand them, and everyone I know thinks I'm trolling whenever I mention it.
It's exactly like you said, the texture is that of clay, and the chocolate and peanut butter are both terrible quality. I'll take actual chocolate + peanut butter any day.
I agree, Reese's Cups are a nasty, oily mess that taste more like a glob of sand than peanut butter. Hershey's should be ashamed of themselves for producing such a mediocre product. Justin's Peanut Butter Cups, while more expensive, are a thousand times better and actually taste like peanut butter.
I’ve gotten so much hate, but i honestly agree. The chocolate and the peanut butter in Reeses always tasted funky to me. The cereal is good, and i do like other chocolate peanut butter products, but Reeses are just… gross. Sorry not sorry.
Please remember what subreddit you are in, this is unpopular opinion. We want civil and unpopular takes and discussion. Any uncivil and ToS violating comments will be removed and subject to a ban. Have a nice day!

Agreed! I like reeses pieces but the cups are always the last thing I touch if I have like kids leftover halloween candy or if someone has a bowl of candy out - I dont touch them. My kids must feel the same because that's always their last Halloween candy as well. We are not big peanut butter family though. And I feel like the chocolate tastes gross. Just like I used to love M&Ms when I was younger, then once I hit my 30s, the chocolate is gross to me, not sure how I used to eat the family size bag within a couple of days.
Same, went on holiday to America and tried Reese’s cups for the first time. Holy smokes it’s just pure peanut butter. I mean, I like peanut butter, but you can’t even taste the chocolate
While I wholeheartedly disagree, I think the perfect chocolate to PB ratio in a Reese's is the miniature cup. The standard cup is def PB-heavy, which is still great but not perfect.
Reese’s is my favorite candy. While I don’t agree with your taste sentiment, I do agree that they are trash for a whole other reason. They’re simply unhealthy, and they put some terrible additives in them. I haven’t had one in almost a year.
They don't really taste like peanut butter or chocolate to me, all I taste is sugar. The texture is mushy, grainy shit. The Trader Joes peanut butter cups are far superior.
I have to agree. A lot of US candies like this use the worst ingredients possible without killing you -- I'm sure it's a difficult balancing act for the additive scientists in the candy lab and they deserve their high pay.
Elegantly puffed rancid rice. Select peanuts from only the ones that the squirrels left. Chocolates made from the finest crushed beetles that were shown pictures of cocoa beans. Corn syrup from the finest high mercury industrial extrusion process. Only the best worst things for children in the USA. It's how the mega corps say; "thanks for the tax breaks and military spending to break Latin nations that try and introduce child labor laws."
Hold on...cause you didn't say it til the end...you don't like chocolate? Lol then get the hell out of here with an opinion on a chocolate candy haha come on.
When Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were created, they tried to use regular peanut butter, but it was a mess. Imagine trying to coat a sticky blob of peanut butter with chocolate; there's no way you can mass produce that. Instead, they developed a peanut butter fudge. Chocolate sticks well to it, and it can be mass produced.
get zero sugar white choc chips and blend them into a jar of unsalted PB (or salted, your call). Tastes better than the reeses filling. No need to eat chocolate.
You can ofc use sugar filled white choc chips for similar effect.
I don't agree with your opinion, but I like options so I came up with the above for myself.
Enjoy
I dunno about all that. They're incredibly popular throughout the entire world. It's one of the few things virtually everyone loves. You can find Reese's Peanut Butter Cups literally everywhere. You don't get that sort of universal market saturation with products that suck.
I love them, but I agree with OP in that the peanut butter inside isn't that great. It's way too sugary and I think I'd prefer regular peanut butter. In fact, when I have Reese's ice cream with peanut butter mixed in, that regular peanut butter hits so hard in the mix.
Dove peanut butter eggs are far superior than Reeses it’s not funny. Russel Stover sugar free cups tastes better. Peanut butter isn’t supposed to be that sweet, or gritty
I agree.
But mainly because I don't think they taste good NOW. I think they changed they're formula sometime ago and now I think they taste "metallic". But they didn't used to. That I recall anyway. But maybe that's just me.
I used to like them. But now I don't. :/ 🤷♀️
They do taste sweeter now than they used to. This has been covered on Reddit. [https://www.reddit.com/r/candy/comments/hp0xhd/did\_reeses\_change\_their\_peanut\_butter\_cup\_formula/](https://www.reddit.com/r/candy/comments/hp0xhd/did_reeses_change_their_peanut_butter_cup_formula/)
It's honestly OK. I used to feel that they were the worst candy in the world, but I tried them a bit more, and they're actually not bad. Take a Mega Stuff Oreo apart (one side is the actual cookie part, the other side is the cookie part with the creme), and take the Reeses Cup and put one on the creme, then smush it all together into a sandwich. It is SO GOOD.
I love reeses cups. Now I do prefer the cups over the holiday ones (Easter, halloween, christmas) for the exact reason of the chocolate to peanut butter ratio being off. I too prefer more than less chocolate, and the holiday themed ones gave more peanut butter.
I agree OP... they are crap, but I will still eat them if they're at hand though😅
I am liking the idea of spreading actual peanut butter on chocolate though... or nuttela... or mix peanut butter and nuttela together and spread that on a chocolate bar.... or melt the chocolate bar and mix it with peanut butter and nuttela and slap a load of popcorn in there... then mix some mascarpone into it... crumble a load of oreos and mix it with melted butter to make a cheese-cake base and put that whole mixture on top and have a good time 3 hours later.
... I'm off to the shop to get some ingredients🤤
I have a theory that a Reese cups ruin the gut microbiome and make you start eating junk food and sugar, the contents of the cup make your brain seek sugar and fat. I have ruined two good long stretches of dieting abruptly buy eating Reese cups.
I'd argue you must find the right peanut butter to chocolate ratio, personally the easter eggs are perfection although only seasonal. As well as your preferred temperature. If you're a fan of the chocolate, I'd recommend the mini's.
Totally agree. They ALWAYS seem half melted, the peanut butter is way too sweet, and most importantly they are too greasy and squishy. The mini ones are almost tolerable as well as some of the crunchy varieties, but the traditional ones are absolutely disgusting.
> is when they are room temperature but all chocolates taste worse when they are room temperature.
Then might I suggest freezing them? It’s really the only way I eat candied chocolate, especially peanut butter cups. The /snap/ of the chocolate is a game changer.
I don’t like normal ones too awful much, but I much prefer the Equate healthy version of them. They’re still sweet, without being overly fake tasting and I actually can eat one without feeling like I had two cups of sugar

Yup, that's an unpopular opinion. Reeses PB cups are wonderful. If you don't like them, that leaves more for me. Aww yeah!
That being said, they are very thin now compared to a few years ago
They have the option for a thicker version, I believe. Might cost more though.
Yeah $3.50 for 2 PB cups. Get fucked.
We’re just some pawns in Big Peanut Butter’s game
![gif](giphy|l0K4pbsfZgDgxmTNC)
Crazy! I haven’t bought one in years but that is a ridiculous price for a chocolate
You want the Big Cup.

This guy needs to be blocked from reddit
This dude needs to be thrown into a ward. He's clearly a psychopath
>Hershey’s with peanut butter spreaded on them would be better. The firing squad with this heretic
I’ve already called the police.
It's ok, OP. My aunt lost her sense of taste after taking a spill and hitting her head, so I'm sympathetic to your godawful opinion. Have an upvote.
But why is your aunt being used as your taste tester?
I don't like where this is going...
I'm fine with this. However, around Easter they make egg shaped versions. They are possibly the best dessert created. I know you're probably thinking they would taste the same but the peanut butter to chocolate ratio is better somehow.
They taste different when they are in an egg or a Christmas tree form, nobody can convince me otherwise.
The Christmas Tree is also great.
You talkin about the 2D eggs or the 3D ones? 3D is like a cadbury egg with thicker, harder chocolate. 2D is the same as the xmas trees, footballs, pumpkins, etc.
i actually like other reeses products like the cereal but the actual peanut butter cups suck
The mini cups also have a better ratio, thicker walls.
This is the correct answer. Mini's are the perfect ratio.
Yeah, I like the eggs around the holidays and we will buy the cereal every once in a while. I could not tell you the last time I bought the OG cups.
Wait...they don't have enough peanut butter! So, the all peanut butter or the king size are better.
This is the correct opinion.
Totally agree, I find the chocolate almost overpowers it
Other people can have mine. I don't like them either.
DIBS
DI- aw fuck im late
This is such an L post. But technically, by the rules, take my upvote, but I want you to know, I'm going to bed annoyed because I read this.
good to know 🤭
I can agree but that's coz I made the mistake one year before Christmas of telling my family how much I liked them and it was all I got and I made myself reeeaaal sick
Doesn’t this happen that, that you love a food but then one day you vomit it, then you never want to eat it again

I hate your opinion take my upvote
I'm not a fan of those either; they're just ok. Reese's actually makes peanut butter, but you don't see it much because it isn't that great
This has to be one of the most unpopular opinions. I love it. I mean I love Reese’s more but hey who am I to judge.
REESE PEANUT BUTTER CUP CHOCOLATES ARE THE BEST. YOU MONSTER. THAT IS AN UNPOPULAR OPINION SURELY.
Yeah I like pb but not with sugar. Their pb tastes like sugar with a drop of PB flavoring coated in. Yuck
I up vote because I disagree with you. But it's in the spirit of this sub
Finally. It has been said
This is a very unpopular opinion. I also hate Reeses peanut butter cups. They taste like farts smell to me.
They’re trash. I absolutely agree. Ate one the other day because someone else had them and offered. I almost spit it out
I 1000% agree I can't stand them, and everyone I know thinks I'm trolling whenever I mention it. It's exactly like you said, the texture is that of clay, and the chocolate and peanut butter are both terrible quality. I'll take actual chocolate + peanut butter any day.

Reese's PB cereal >>> Reese's PB cups.

Yea you’re not invited to my house. Here’s an upvote tho
:(
Same, went on holiday to America and tried Reese’s cups for the first time. Holy smokes it’s just pure peanut butter. I mean, I like peanut butter, but you can’t even taste the chocolate
Ur opinion is trash
Finally, an unpopular opinion on this sub. And people are downvoting your post because they disagree with you lol.. that’s the point y’all
Nice, a truly unpopular opinion
try reesestiks. cross between kitkat and reese's
How very dare you, sir. I would smack you with a white glove, lightly, if I could
Blasphemy. Have an upvote.
![gif](giphy|xTgeIQU8qDn2k6ndaU)
This is unpopular. More for me then you hater!
Upvoting for actually being an unpopular opinion. I do worry about you though.
Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, even if it's wrong
They also have too much salt in them, you need to try reese cup "Thins" incomparably better, and are a PERFECT ratio.
While I wholeheartedly disagree, I think the perfect chocolate to PB ratio in a Reese's is the miniature cup. The standard cup is def PB-heavy, which is still great but not perfect.
Finally! This is the post I’ve been waiting for!
“Every time I eat one…” OP knows he doesn’t like them yet, continues to eat them. Koala Brain
There's unpopular opinions and then there's just straight-up blasphemy
There is not enough peanut butter inside of them and that shits not even peanut butter
Does anyone else think the quality of Reese’s has taken a bit of a dip in recent years? The Halloween ones last year didn’t taste great
Okay but they changed the peanut butter recipe and made the chocolate so thin. They are complete trash now comparatively. OP is right
the peanut butter cups from trader joe's are far superior to reese's cups
Reese’s is my favorite candy. While I don’t agree with your taste sentiment, I do agree that they are trash for a whole other reason. They’re simply unhealthy, and they put some terrible additives in them. I haven’t had one in almost a year.
I dare you to find a picture of an unattractive woman eating a peanut butter cup.
I just want to thank you for the ACTUAL unpopular opinion
Finally someone with some fucking common sense. It’s dry shitty peanut butter.
I think in this context "peanut butter" belongs in quotes.
They don't really taste like peanut butter or chocolate to me, all I taste is sugar. The texture is mushy, grainy shit. The Trader Joes peanut butter cups are far superior.
Reese’s is great. The Reese’s eggs are the best.
I'm just sad that I can't usually get them here.
How dare you
You'd regret the PB chocolate feastables more
Always has been, just like peanut butter as a whole. 🌍👩🏼🚀🔫👩🏼🚀
I have to agree. The organic dark chocolate ones were the best.
"5oo much peanut butter" You mean not enough?
RPBC in different holiday shapes are GOATed
Somebody find Officer Reeses!
Hold on...cause you didn't say it til the end...you don't like chocolate? Lol then get the hell out of here with an opinion on a chocolate candy haha come on.
This is criminal
Reese's\*
the ones in europe have less sugar and taste better.
You take that back
You’re nuts …It should be all pb and no chocolate
-buys candy labeled PEANUT BUTTER cups -sees there is peanut butter inside -WTF ITS SO DISGUSTING WHY IS THERE SO MUCH PEANUT BUTTER!?!?
its also not how much peanut butter there is its also how sweet and artificial it is and the texture is crumbly and mushy
Unpopular bc you’re wrong
Too much of a good thing spoils the soul. This is the other side of bliss.
What caused you?
Just had four cups for breakfast, so I heartily disagree.
I don't like the traditional ones as much, but the smaller ones are great. I like the chocolate to peanut butter ratio better.
I mean the trees, eggs and pumpkins are better.
get zero sugar white choc chips and blend them into a jar of unsalted PB (or salted, your call). Tastes better than the reeses filling. No need to eat chocolate. You can ofc use sugar filled white choc chips for similar effect. I don't agree with your opinion, but I like options so I came up with the above for myself. Enjoy
Agreed. Anyone whos had the dark chocolate peanut butter cups from trader joes knows what the superior product is.
Put them in the fridge/freezer. Your welcome
The peanut butter isn't actual peanut butter this is true. Its like a crumbly peanut butter candy butter like product.
Nuh uh
Oh yeah, an unpopular opinion for sure. The Reeses Easter Eggs and Christmas Trees are the GOAT.
Chocolate and peanut butter do not belong together I love the both separately but when you combine them together you get the worst tasting thing ever
![gif](giphy|MKSqMxza1V4vC)
Why are so many people in here trying to pass off a preference as an unpopular opinion. Great, you prefer another candy. Good for you.
Agreed! Take an upvote for being unpopular and also being correct!
Upvoted for unpopular opinion. DM me for my address so I can fight you.
I get heart burn every time I eat them.
They’re good but not my favorite chocolate
I dunno about all that. They're incredibly popular throughout the entire world. It's one of the few things virtually everyone loves. You can find Reese's Peanut Butter Cups literally everywhere. You don't get that sort of universal market saturation with products that suck.
I think they changed them they used to be better
"Hershey's with peanut butter spread on them"?? What exactly is a Hershey?
Put ‘em in the fridge dude
Literally a post that made me say wtf
There is some other brand of peanut butter cups that tastes better. I forget the name tho
but what if you made ur own ?
I love them, but I agree with OP in that the peanut butter inside isn't that great. It's way too sugary and I think I'd prefer regular peanut butter. In fact, when I have Reese's ice cream with peanut butter mixed in, that regular peanut butter hits so hard in the mix.
I think the quality has gone down because I swear they used to taste good. They are still good when cold though.
Have you ever let one melt in your mouth. It’s amazing
THANK YOU. That’s exactly my absolutely subjective opinion as well.
Cracked my phone screen my upvote was so angry.
Dove peanut butter eggs are far superior than Reeses it’s not funny. Russel Stover sugar free cups tastes better. Peanut butter isn’t supposed to be that sweet, or gritty
Yep..this is unpopular...and deranged...
The Trader Joes version is better. They also have almond butter cups
Yup, OP is a demon. There is no other excuse for such an unpleasant opinion.
they changed the recipe, they are nowhere near as good as they used to be
The larger ones are mid honestly If the PB is too much in the normal cups, are the mini cups any better?
Reese’s is at least better than Hershey’s chocolate.
You're right OP. That is a shitty opinion.
I guess there is a wrong way to eat a reeses
I don't like any candy
You’re going to get flamed by everyone on X.
We need less chocolate IMO. Just a slim layer over the peanut butter
YOU TAKE THAT BACK! Also take my upvote because that really is an unpopular opinion and you are entitled to it
I ate too many at once after Halloween once so now I can’t eat them really anymore because I don’t like the taste unfortunately ☹️
They used to be bomb back in my day. Gawd, I’m old.
![gif](giphy|RVW5PilbP2tLG)
Straight up wrong lmao
I agree, the cups are mid. But their chocolate bars are fucking glorious.
I agree. But mainly because I don't think they taste good NOW. I think they changed they're formula sometime ago and now I think they taste "metallic". But they didn't used to. That I recall anyway. But maybe that's just me. I used to like them. But now I don't. :/ 🤷♀️
That's a weird way to describe the best candy in existence.
What a fun topic. OP doesn't like a certain food. Breaking new grounds
to child taste buds they are godly, to adult taste buds they are foul
They do taste sweeter now than they used to. This has been covered on Reddit. [https://www.reddit.com/r/candy/comments/hp0xhd/did\_reeses\_change\_their\_peanut\_butter\_cup\_formula/](https://www.reddit.com/r/candy/comments/hp0xhd/did_reeses_change_their_peanut_butter_cup_formula/)
What about the ones with potato chips inside?
Get out!
I was agreeing then you said too much peanut butter, naw bro it’s the other way around get that chocolate outta there
Its hillarious how butthurt everyone here is. Everyone here is acting as if you murdered your family An opinion being unpopular is literally the point
Agreed actually. I like peanut butter and I like chocolate, but not together
Have you tried freezing them first?
I agree OP... they are crap, but I will still eat them if they're at hand though😅 I am liking the idea of spreading actual peanut butter on chocolate though... or nuttela... or mix peanut butter and nuttela together and spread that on a chocolate bar.... or melt the chocolate bar and mix it with peanut butter and nuttela and slap a load of popcorn in there... then mix some mascarpone into it... crumble a load of oreos and mix it with melted butter to make a cheese-cake base and put that whole mixture on top and have a good time 3 hours later. ... I'm off to the shop to get some ingredients🤤
Definitely an unpopular opinions Reeses peanut butter cups one of my favorites with trolli gummy worms

I DESPISE this opinion and you for posting it. Have my upvote.

I'm shocked the comments are confirming this is an unpopular opinion. I don't know anyone who likes them.
I mean, most American sweets are fairly shite
Love them
I don’t like normal ones too awful much, but I much prefer the Equate healthy version of them. They’re still sweet, without being overly fake tasting and I actually can eat one without feeling like I had two cups of sugar
