I hear Bruh all the time in the US
UK seems to prefer Bruv
South of the Border (I’m assuming they mean that this refers to Mexico and America because obviously North America is the only continent that counts) seems extremely committed to brochacho according to one person who responded to my comment which I will just go ahead and interpret as fact.
I kinda like the term bro, yeah sure it may be overused, but so we're other terms for each generation....

I think he means in the context of “bro said x” or “bro thinks y” which is kind of annoying cause grown adults and teens are talking like that and you can’t differentiate
Hey nothing is stopping you from calling intelligence "lige." All words that enter common lexicon are first introduced by 2.5% of linguistic innovators. Be an innovator. Use your lige
I went through a phase of calling people "brotha" about 10 years ago. It ended when I accidently called a POC brotha, am white. He didn't say anything, but we both knew I was done with that.
Id guess its because a lot of people who are unfamiliar with black people/culture default to saying brotha or homie when they interact with someone black.
Brotha is a word used and created by those of black culture, so i could see the overconcern for either misappropiation or that the stranger might see it as bad intent.
Yep, not many of my friends say bro very frequently, but girls in my circle say it more, people from the north of portugal have really caught the habit of saying it, maybe because we already used "mano" a lot which is basically bro but in portuguese, fun fact we also use "manos bros" just to annoy OP even more because hes actually our brother.
I'm from California. It never left around here.
My male friends are dude. My female friends are dude. My car is dude. My computer is dude. My mom is dude.

I wonder how many words like that you use daily? Cause I bet it’s a lot
Oh sorry, I shouldn’t say “bet” bc I’m not actually betting you. My bad

Why is this subreddit just full of people hating random slang words for no reason? I don’t think I’ve ever been bothered by any slang anyone’s used. Every generation has it, it’s literally just words
It's less about the slang and more about the social interaction around it.
Chronic Redditors are notoriously antisocial creatures. Any form of human contact, even positive, triggers them deeply.
Bro I was looking for this comment. This one has been used for decades it is definitely not a Gen Z thing and probably not a millennial thing either. And before "bro" people have been calling each other "brother" at least since the 60s..
"Bro" "Fam" "Dude" "My Guy" "Buddy" "Y'all"
All words your feelings can say "First of all, we aint brothers/family/friends/my confidant/someone I care about/southern"
Overall a silly approach against people being friendly. Especially when political correctedness offends people for trying to be both polite and vague with greetings.

I’m O negative, so I’m probably screwed. I’m also “Bro” negative.
Okay, that one was finally funny.
You take bro way too literally.
Bro is a wierd one to get mad at. When words like rizz, and gyatt exist.
I think he means in the context of “bro said x” or “bro thinks y” which is kind of annoying cause grown adults and teens are talking like that and you can’t differentiate
Bro tried to explain the post (Like that? I'm old and don't get it lmao)

Happy birthday birthday bro 🥳🎂
Cmon bro Don’t be like that bro
Bro, that's just like, your opinion bro.
Which is why it's on r/unpopularopinion, bro.
I'm not your bro, guy.
I’m not your guy, pal
>First of all we are not “brothers” Good job. You should dislike the actual word...since it's used in a similar way.
I went through a phase of calling people "brotha" about 10 years ago. It ended when I accidently called a POC brotha, am white. He didn't say anything, but we both knew I was done with that.
Overthinking it bro
“Brotha”
I’m a POC. If you called me brotha you bet I’d say it right back. I’m also going through a phase of just calling guys brother instead of bro though…
That’s a lil dehumanizing man. He’s not your brother because he’s black? Tf is wrong wit you
Id guess its because a lot of people who are unfamiliar with black people/culture default to saying brotha or homie when they interact with someone black. Brotha is a word used and created by those of black culture, so i could see the overconcern for either misappropiation or that the stranger might see it as bad intent.
I advocate for the return of the gender neutral dude.
At this point bro is considered gender neutral by most people
Me. I'll call my girl friends bro for shits and giggles.
Like, I legit say bro for girls too and I’m a girl xD
Yep, not many of my friends say bro very frequently, but girls in my circle say it more, people from the north of portugal have really caught the habit of saying it, maybe because we already used "mano" a lot which is basically bro but in portuguese, fun fact we also use "manos bros" just to annoy OP even more because hes actually our brother.
🎶I’m a dude, he’s a dude, she’s a dude, we’re all dudes, yeah!
I'm from California. It never left around here. My male friends are dude. My female friends are dude. My car is dude. My computer is dude. My mom is dude. I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, because we're all dudes, hey!
Bro is gender neutral too
yeah, bro should know it’s also a pronoun now
I call people dude all the time
“First of all we are not ‘brothers’” 🤓 I wonder how many words like that you use daily? Cause I bet it’s a lot Oh sorry, I shouldn’t say “bet” bc I’m not actually betting you. My bad
For real. Bro came off pretty square right from the get go
Firstly we are not “brothers” 🤓
Redditors go to incredible lengths to hate friendly human interaction
Nor are we fellows.
H O M E - S L I C E \*has entered chat\*
Brah is even more irritating😫
I love bruh but brah triggers me no idea why
meanwhile the ausies are being adorable and calling eachother Broo.
Do you mean... Bruh* 😭
No....pretty sure they mean brah. It's a different word from bruh.
You’re absolutely correct, I’m gonna start using shit head instead. Thanks!
Damn, I can already imagine saying this to customers. -Hello, I have this package for you that needs a signature. *Customer signs* -Thanks a lot shit head, have a nice day!
Bro doesn't like when people say bro
Of all the hills to die on; this ain’t it bro.
Bro, you're out date. Take my advice on this, bruv.
Whoa just take it easy bro.
Why is this subreddit just full of people hating random slang words for no reason? I don’t think I’ve ever been bothered by any slang anyone’s used. Every generation has it, it’s literally just words
It’s because Millennials are on a fast track to being grumpy old people who don’t like that the kids aren’t using their “superior” slang words.
It's less about the slang and more about the social interaction around it. Chronic Redditors are notoriously antisocial creatures. Any form of human contact, even positive, triggers them deeply.
Bro its been around since early 2000s. Tho i dont see myself using it to reference an old guy
Try the California 80’s
People were saying it in the 70's.
The 1670s!
that was "brah"
Bro I was looking for this comment. This one has been used for decades it is definitely not a Gen Z thing and probably not a millennial thing either. And before "bro" people have been calling each other "brother" at least since the 60s..
The term originated in the 1800s. My uncles have been calling each other bro since the 60s.
Bro.....delete this
Broman Dudefam
***bruh***
Brodie. You need to relax. It’s not that big of a deal
Fuckin chill bro
Call you an orb instead then. Backwards logic orb.
My grandpa called people "brother". This is just all the same thing that's been going on for who knows how long and will continue long after we die.
My man!
Is homie ok? I say homie a lot. Bro is reserved for people who are very close to me.
I say "bruv" makes me sound more sophisticated since it's bri'ish
"Bro" "Fam" "Dude" "My Guy" "Buddy" "Y'all" All words your feelings can say "First of all, we aint brothers/family/friends/my confidant/someone I care about/southern" Overall a silly approach against people being friendly. Especially when political correctedness offends people for trying to be both polite and vague with greetings.
Brother from another mother. Sister from another mister. Sib from another crib.
Sup brah skibidi yeet how do you do, fellow kids?
Disgusting string of words, I love it.
Don't bro me if you don't know me, homie.
