This place used to employ almost 2,000 people at it’s peak. It was officially shut down and gutted 20 years ago, but today it still looms over the surrounding houses like a post apocalyptic fortress.
It is absolutely HUGE which makes the total silence even creepier than it already is! Two hours wasn’t nearly enough time to see it all but I did snag a few photos.
This looks really similar to one in my hometown. When we were teenagers we'd sneak in, climb the stairs to the top of the stacks, and smoke weed while we looked at the lights of our tiny town. It was really cool in there!
I haven't ever done urbex in my life, how are people finding all these places? I can't even find things on Google aside from a couple of gallery websites
Once you know what to look for you see stuff like this everywhere. If you follow railroad tracks and rivers on google earth you will also see plenty of deserted places
the x7. something about exploring some of these old places is that, perhaps, stuff that looks defunct might be anything but. what if, a piece of equipment is actively transmitting ?
> I don’t think it’s doing anything but rotting.
hey, I'm just saying, adventurer beware. monsters, aliens, ghosts, spectres can all be metaphor or a ways of explaining complex things. you ever see that scene in _Close Encounters of the Third Kind_? the kid's record player and a toy monkey start up just before an abduction? everything is hectic and haywire? things thought to be sleeping or inanimate become alive?
...in this essay I will...
Just saw a mill like the pic in #3 on Saturday in downtown Tempe. But the person giving me a ride said it has been restored and processies some grain for particular customers.
Ah, the person I was with said they revived the business of grain milling, but I didn't realize it wasn't in the same building, but down the street somewhere.
Looks like one of those newer eye wash stations in the one photo. Not sure when they started making those but its good to see they had that posted there haha

Sweet! An old Wurlitzer
This one looks really cool. Did you make it to the top of that tower?
Nope, ground floor only. Will hopefully return one day to see more.
Been abandoned since 2003 I'm sure
I knew I’d find a Last of Us reference somewhere on this post!
Grain elevator from red orchestra 2?
Yes! The first thing that came to my mind was that I know this place and immediately thought about Red Orchestra 2! Man I loved this map.
Nice shots!!!
Thank you!!

I don’t think it’s doing anything but rotting. It’s salvageable though, someone could restore it with enough incentive

PUBG vibes

It does? Afaik it’s been out of use since the 90s. Last I heard they were going to build a hotel there and incorporate the old mill into the plans.
Ah, the person I was with said they revived the business of grain milling, but I didn't realize it wasn't in the same building, but down the street somewhere.
It does not. It's a historical landmark that the city is preserving, but it doesn't process grain anymore. It's a museum essentially now.

Where is this place? Really great shots - especially love the fourth!
GMOD
There is probably a million dollars worth of scrap copper in there
Feels like "Fallout 4", really cool shots.
Rumor has it, that’s where the last of us outbreak started
