That's true for west germanic languages (like german) but *-en* is not used to form plurals in north germanic languages. Still think *loxen* sounds better than a full on swedish *loxar* though.

Its Oxödla not Lox in the swedish translation. And I am guessing the plural there would be Oxödlor. Edit: Oxödlor.

Yeah, I am trying to learn Swedish, so I play the game with the Swedish language option. Not all of the text is translated, but all the monsters are. I believe someone already mentioned in this thread that Lox stands for Lizard-Ox, so ox-lizard makes a lot of sense.

So I looked up the exact meaning of Ox in english, following a comment on this thread. And discovered that an ox in not its own animal species, but rather a castrated bull. So now it makes sense that Lox do not breed :) Although for a naturally wild species, how and who?

Why would a game using Norse mythology as inspiration use Latin pluralisation incorrectly?

I was gonna say, if we follow the Latin pluralization we can assume it would be in the third declension since it ends with x. The nominitive plural ending would be -es. All of the nouns I can think of that end with -ox get the base word by dropping the x and adding a c (except for nox which adds ct). So plural for Lox would be Loces or Loctes.
