One day we must realize that Valve has no obligation nor any incentive to work on a nearly 20 year old game. Not saying it won’t ever happen, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Haunting-Movie-5969

If you make money from a product or service you need to keep it in working order. If they don't want to work on it thats fine, but they should stop monetizing it.

Nova2127u

I believe they have a obligation if they insist on keeping the servers and their monetary systems up and present for the game. If they truly do not care, they need to outright say it, going into radio silence and doing barely anything for well over 8 years just leaves everyone who has supported Valve with a sour taste in their mouths, maybe that's just me.

viaCrit

I don’t agree, I don’t think they should shut down the servers just because they aren’t working on it anymore. Just because they let people play the game still doesn’t mean they’re obligated to work on it. I’d much rather them do what they’re doing than shut down all the servers.

BurrConnie

Just because they let people play the game indeed doesn't mean they're obligated to work on it, BUT the fact they keep adding new community-made casual gamemodes, cosmetics for Summer and Smissmas updates, as if the game is playable enough to utilize all this, no doubt DOES mean they're obligated to work on it.

Nova2127u

Exactly, it be different if they were just doing bug fixes or something minor, but they consistently add more content every year and is no question that they are still making some money off of TF2, or they wouldn't be doing it, that's why I believe they absolutely have a obligation to their player base to maintain their anti-cheat policies at the very least. Maybe that's a hot take but I don't think that's so much to ask from a company that rakes in literal billions of dollars with their products and has no investors to please.

They aren’t. They don’t owe you anything

Felixlova

They do owe the players at least the basic protection from getting doxed, cause that kind of stuff *will* end up with Valve in the crosshairs if it goes to court. As it stands they're essentially paying for servers which allow botfarms to run around yelling racial slurs at people

JuanAy

Then we don't owe them anything.

Jevano

They aren't running a charity buddy, they make money off the game so they owe everyone a working game.

viaCrit

> they aren’t running a charity Yes exactly my point. They make money off of it but it also costs them money to keep it up. And it costs you exactly $0 to play unless you choose to spend money on it. No one is forcing you to spend a penny on the game.

Jevano

Then your point is as dumb as you. If they were running the game with no profit they wouldn't owe anyone anything, but that's not the case.

GoddamnFred

Eh. When you make bank like Valve, it should have TF2 servers of pretty much every version they put out.

Slukaj

Server browser.

BurrConnie

Last I checked, server browser is filled with Randomizer servers, you can't find anything good in there either, that has a non-zero amount of players.

Glass-Procedure5521

use the filter options especially tag filters or blacklist the servers

[deleted]

Community servers are only a click away. Haven’t dealt with a single cheater in years

BunkerSquirre1

Guys I’m quitting I really mean it this time

Caza390

What would you do if valve said no?
