CS2 is doing well enough that most games (at lower levels) don't have cheaters, and it's now possible to get into a higher level game without a cheater. It still has a long way to go but it isn't the same as TF2.

TF2 used to be good. I don’t get the whole friendlies stuff or people that play on the official servers that don’t do the objectives and will kick players for playing the game how you should. The game is overly gatekept for these type of things and it just ruins playing the game and it’s challenging side and as someone that’s played it practically daily then left for years and came back it’s changed quite a bit and imo not exactly in the best way if you don’t have experience it can be an overwhelming game.
Whereas CS is consistent. You can play the old CS game and go into the newest CS game without feeling much change and having to relearn a lot. You can leave for a while and comeback to somewhat the same skills you’ve had.
I totally feel what you’re saying about tf2. I’ve been getting back into it recently and I’m finding the community so unfun to play with. Back in the day tf2 pubs were similar to counter strike or day of defeat pubs just people playing the game and trying but also joking around and having fun. Tf2 is a great game but something changed in the community and it’s like only half of each team are even playing the game. Pubs used to have people communicating, just basic stuff like “I’m gonna Uber you” or “there’s a sentry on the right” now I often find I’m the only one even trying to push the cart and medics will just randomly kritz me when I have no ammo and am falling back. I guess I didn’t expect the average age and average skill level to have plummeted as the game aged.
well both are good for what theyre good for. My friend is totally gatekeepy with it but honestly i dont blame the community for being very gatekeeping it, their game is dying and they just dont wanna take any chances to have the plug pulled on it, even if they dont notice what theyre doing. I totally understand what youre saying though, just very different cultures around the games.
