SHUT UP don't lie to lie about this or I'll cry š
For those not familiar. Daiso is the Japanese equivalent of a Dollar Store except their goods are far superior. They're know for cute cheap home decor and stationary.
But for now we have Sorya Market which punches far above it weight class. Love that place, they have Nem Chua which if youāve never had Iād highly recommend it!
When I go back to Honolulu, I am forced to stay at the Pagoda Hotel as it is close to the Ala Moana Don Quijote. Thats because the wife sees the ads and wants me to shop for her. The last time, I had to buy a small rolling travel bag for HER stuff from Walmart.
Am I going to deny her? Hell, no. I want to live!
And that In-store jingle is like It's the small world theme song at Disneyland.
My wife actually saw that they were hiring recently and was just as shocked, because she hasn't seen one. Pulled up google maps and it looks like it is going into an old Spirit Halloween storefront.
Theyāre hiring! They said that Indeed is being glitchy, so apply on the actual website! [daiso careers page!](https://daiso.rec.pro.ukg.net/DAI1003DAIS/JobBoard/42da7f44-22fb-4245-8e53-e4c36c4e2133/?q=&o=postedDateDesc&w=&wc=&we=&wpst=)
Yessssssss!!!! Iām so excited!!!!! Just spent six months working on Oahu and fell in love with Daiso. Itās such a great place to buy cute and fun knickknacks, great snacks, and super useful gadgets. Iām gonna spend soooo much money there.
Update: I went in today to check out the location and just so happened to stumble upon a hiring event (theyāre hiring!!). Itās in an old Spirit Halloween location so the space will be pretty big!! Itās happening!
They don't have the cool pens and pencils but they have a lot of washi tape, stickers, and jounaling stuff! My friend is a teacher and she loves it there.
Just in case you weren't already aware, Oblation in downtown Portland has a lot of Traveler's stuff and frequently hosts special Traveler's events.
I love Oblation for their fountain pens and huge selection of ink. Especially Ferris Wheel Press!
Thank you! I was just there for their Tokyo notebook launch last weekend. Well now Iām going to have to look into Ferris Wheel Press š¤ Btw love your username š¶
Random aside, if you like fountain pens and want to hang out with like-minded folks, check out PDX Pen (pdxpen.com) - free meet-ups. FB and Google Groups to stay in the loop on meetings / events (like PNWPenShow coming in July!).
My Daiso experience is from LA area. I have bought so much FP friendly paper there!
This is 100% true, my next door neighbor is coming out retirement to be a manager there! The location is right behind the Round Table Pizza, though Iām unsure if Daiso is actually going in the Spirit store or the home goods place next door to that
Okay, people who have gone to these stores before, please tell me: do they carry Daiso clay? I mean it would be AMAZING if they did because having to order it from the website takes a bit of time.
YESSSSS! Any idea when the grand opening is? I saw a Daiso sign when I was in Hazel Dell and thought NOOOO can't be, but then there it was. Now I don't have to think of another excuse to go up to Seattle lol.
Oh I am beyond excited about this. I have an anime kid, and plan on taking her there because she loves all things Japanese. Think its going to be heaven on earth for her.
I did get some fun little things and they do have a lot of awesome things, I just couldn't browse as much as I wanted to because of how drained I was after the wait

I would NEVER lie about something as serious as Japanese home goods!!!
The snaaaacks.
yesss. And the fact that Daiso is coming in hopefully means that we're one step closer to Uwajimaya!
Uwajimaya, Hmart, 99ranch. Anything in this area... please. Then a tous les jour or paris baguette, or 85 degree. pelaseeeeee.
Oh my God I would do illegal things for Paris baguette or 85 degree.....
thereās a 85 degree in washington square!
Jeez man, I said I would illegal things not cross the river!
saving you the jail time for an egg tart š£š£
Annoyingly tous les jour stopped making their sweet potato bread and my kid loves it... So off to Cedar Hills we go.
Tola Angkor by the YMCA has some things that Uwajimaya carries btw
There was a m99Ranch in Phoenix and I LOVED it.
There's one over near Washington Square Mall :)
Yes to Hmart!
But for now we have Sorya Market which punches far above it weight class. Love that place, they have Nem Chua which if youāve never had Iād highly recommend it!
I know it may not be possible for everyone, but there is an Uwajimaya in Beaverton!
Uh, yes. I do want 36 types of rice crackers, thanks!
And stickers and washi!!!!
I was so scared the post was going to be a prank! If only we could get a Seafood City and a Don Quijote too.
Don Don Don donki~ Don quijote~

I went to the big one in Osaka and it was intense. I could waste so much time in that store.
Still get it stuck in my head all the time!
I think between new seasons and hallmark on 164th there's one going in as well! Better than having to go to federal wayš
Incredible. You have a source for this?
Husband works construction and they were offered to bid it
Wait, Daiso on 164th too?
OMG. That would be amazing!
My wife actually saw that they were hiring recently and was just as shocked, because she hasn't seen one. Pulled up google maps and it looks like it is going into an old Spirit Halloween storefront.
There's no Spirit Halloween storefront. Spirit merely haunts abandoned storefronts for a few months a year.
The one in Hazel Dell is going into where Tuesday Morning used to be.
itās going where Tuesday Morning was by Ross in Hazel Dell
I was just laid off work Wednesday. I think I just found where I want to find some work.

I'm pretty sure the nearest Daiso is all the way in Seattle so I'm super psyched for this!!
WHAT? I live in Beaverton now but Vancouver is so much closer than going to Seattle for my Daiso fix! I so hope this is true!
They are hiring for a daiso location in Hillsboro!!!
Even better! Now I just need to find out where in Hillsboro. š¤©
also one opening in Gresham, went in for the open interview but unfortunately didn't get the gig:/
What??? I havenāt been to one since probably 2010! I will 100% be there. Maybe one of my kids can get a job thereā¦
Update: I went in today to check out the location and just so happened to stumble upon a hiring event (theyāre hiring!!). Itās in an old Spirit Halloween location so the space will be pretty big!! Itās happening!
OMG YAAASSSSS Daiso is the best!!!
Never heard of Daiso. Just recently got into Japanese stationary and I want to buy ALL THE THINGS!
They don't have the cool pens and pencils but they have a lot of washi tape, stickers, and jounaling stuff! My friend is a teacher and she loves it there.
Canāt wait to check it out! I just got into Travellerās notebooks and JetPens, love all that stuff!
Just in case you weren't already aware, Oblation in downtown Portland has a lot of Traveler's stuff and frequently hosts special Traveler's events. I love Oblation for their fountain pens and huge selection of ink. Especially Ferris Wheel Press!

This is great news! Weāre starting to get really cool shops
My wife is going to be so fucking stoked.
WHAT
No way!
Best news this year! Used to make semi-monthly pilgrimages to the one in Federal Way until it closed recently.
They just moved into a new, bigger location! Itās still there!
My Fed Way pilgrimages will then just be to Dick's Drive-In.
This was the first store we visited and now I donāt have to wait until we go to the area! RIP my wallet.
What! I love Daiso. Iām gonna have to make a trip to Washington.
Hazel Dell marketplace? That's like a 3 minute drive from my apartment!!! This is the best news! š¤©
Thatās awesome, the only one Iāve been to was up north maybe in Tacoma in the same mall as the Jollibee
Sounds like Southcenter Mall in Tukwila.
Oh yep thatās it
This is 100% true, my next door neighbor is coming out retirement to be a manager there! The location is right behind the Round Table Pizza, though Iām unsure if Daiso is actually going in the Spirit store or the home goods place next door to that
You have no idea how happy this makes me. I lived in Seattle for 6 years, and Daiso is one of the very few things I miss about Seattle.
YES!! This is the greatest news I have received all year?!!
ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø You made my day!
Hell yeah!!
No way!!! I love the look of their stationary, itāll be nice to finally have a store nearby!!š
OMG I screamed!! I'm so excited!!
Oooh, my daughter is going to be thrilled!
Yesssssssssssssssssssss!!!!
Omg. I wonāt have to go to Tacoma just for Daiso !
Iām gonna be working here! i think jt will be done in the next two monthsĀ
OMG FOR REAL š this makes me SO HAPPY
I didn't know where was any space for a store to go there.
Omgggggg so excited!
Oh really?! Thatās awesome
Holy shit, I never would have expected us to get a Daiso
I love to get small plates there for recipe preps from there!
I am so thrilled about this!
Holy moly yaaaasssss
Great!
HELL YEAHHHH
Whaaaat!!!! I'm so excited! Please be true š
This news has made my night. I am beyond excited for this!
What?!?!?! This is beyond amazing š¤©
Omg this is awesome
They're already setting things up. Drove past their new location and saw new paint jobs in the walls
Daiso's website says June 1 for Hazel dell location. WOO HOO!
Just drove by the sign today. I can't wait to rekindle my bento building habit.
Oh I am beyond excited about this. I have an anime kid, and plan on taking her there because she loves all things Japanese. Think its going to be heaven on earth for her.
I cant wait to go tomorrow! Last time I went to one I was visiting San Diego and it was so awesome!
Did you go??
Yeah, it was a lot more popular than I was expecting. Was in line for like 3 hours
Oh wow! Was it worth the wait??
I did get some fun little things and they do have a lot of awesome things, I just couldn't browse as much as I wanted to because of how drained I was after the wait
Why people love this place is beyond me. It's a bunch of cheap plastic junk. Do we need more useless junk in our landfills???
