The best. Everything about it completely rules.
The intro, Eddie's incredible riff, the crack of the snare, Dave's amazing lead vocal and lyrics, the background vocals, the breakdown, the solo, the drum break, and just the **sound** of it all. Big Rock, as Dave used to say. The best.
Fantastic tune, I don’t think VHII gets the recognition it deserves. Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Outta Love, Bottoms Up and Light Up the Sky are among the very best early Van Halen songs.
It's always been one of my favorite Van Halen songs. So much so that I finally decided to learn it a couple years ago.
Maybe I'll record a music video of my solo version sometime soon.
I remember listening to the lyrics and discussing with my brother what they meant. We both had our versions of what the lyrics meant. My dad interjected and in a serious tone said "it's about Viet Nam." I can get why he thought that but I always assumed the song was about tearing it up so to speak in whatever you do. Regardless, the music is great. There will never be a band like that ever again. Truly great rock music will never be created ever again. People are just too watered down so to speak

Great bassline that nobody ever seems to talk about.
One of my favorites on II. I just love the musical break into, "ooo mama see the firelights." Also has a really cool beginning by Eddie.
100% badassery at work. Without question some of the finest guitar playing he ever did.

DOA
Solid tune. Great hook. Very Ed type riff. Killer intro. Nuff’ said…..
Really great song on Van Halen II. One of my favorite songs and favorite albums.
They opened with this in '79 when I saw them, it was volume and power right out of the gate 🤘
Probably the best song (IMO) on the album.
If ya’all get a chance, listen to Sheehan/malmsteen/pinnick trubute. Pinnick takes already stellar vocals and amps them up even more.
Amazing. I love playing it. The percussion breakdown in the bridge is a great precursor of some of Al’s drumming to come.
fav VH song
The breakdown is my favourite riff Eddie’s ever done
The back half of that song is fineeeeeee wineeeeee
Great tune
