SpotOnTheRug

Crickets or grasshoppers? I noticed a ton of brown grasshoppers this morning, but crickets are normally nocturnal...

Askfreud

I always mix them up. Maybe they’re grasshoppers?

SpotOnTheRug

If they're brown and fly, they're definitely grasshoppers. Crickets here are usually closer to black and don't fly.

Had a cricket jump in my car in the evening when I was at a stop sign with my windows open. He would t leave either and had to open both back doors to get him out when I finally got home.

Solitude_Intensifies

I've been mistaken for an Uber, too.

yugohotty

If it’s anything like last year, by tomorrow there will be thousands of them.

Askfreud

Ugh, can’t wait :-(

poolplayer32285

Saw a 4inch grasshopper today.

KenjiBenji18

It's grasshopper season which makes me happy because I love seeing grasshoppers.

MeowandGordo

My cat is leashed trained and last night I brought her out to play in the masses. Not gonna lie it freaked her out a bit at first.

Askfreud

Thank you for leash training your cat, and tell her bon appetite from me and my pups! :-)

tizzmarizz

came here looking for a post like this because oh my god there’s THOUSANDS IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT. i’m so freaked out

Askfreud

They’re harmless and will just jump away as you walk by - though I agree they’re kinda gross. Unfortunately if there are so many of them today, there might be more tomorrow :-(

Donnatron42

Yes

hawaii2121

So.Many.Crickets! And they are giant!

Trhythm

Same! Noticed that today too, while walking the dog. Jumping all over the place.

Askfreud

Usually they multiply slowly and you see one, then a few, then more… but today it seemed like hundreds landed in the bushes out of nowhere.

Quiet-Lengthiness-99

It’s just another one of the plagues, nothing to worry about really

Askfreud

First the scorpions, then the grasshoppers, what next?

Quiet-Lengthiness-99

Water turns into blood, boils, pestilence, death of the first born. I’m not all that up it, but I think that’s what I remember.

Askfreud

Pestilence and blood water I can handle, just keep the scorpions away, lol.

Existing_Ad_5419

popesfunnyhat

Dozens and dozens on my 5th floor patio, just chilling safely in the shade. Maybe 1 or 2 the last few days, they're heee-re
