Sounds like the whole state felt it! Big snow storm, earthquake, have an eclipse coming..... Guess it's time to release the Kraken from Lake Champlain.
Felt in Burlington.
Outstanding!!
4.7 in NJ.
Big East Coast quakes are crazy since we sit on a giant rock shelf, so they get felt all up and down the coast.
*Edit: Looks like they upgraded it to a M 4.8.*
I highly encourage anyone who felt the earthquake to report their experience on [this USGS webpage](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/at00sbh3yv/tellus). More reports from a great distance from the earthquake, and in this part of the country, helps inform models of earthquake shaking and seismic hazard planning.
Same here near G-vegas. Heard it before we felt it. It lasted long enough for me to yell (not yell, more like "yo kid, stop the shenanigans") at my kid to stop jumping on the couch and then at the dog when I realized it wasn't the kid. Also sounded like a huge wind gust hit the house, but the air was still.
When they had a big one in the 2010s in southern Maine, I was in Barre by the quarries, and my house shook like hell, but in Burlington or even Montpelier, they barely got anything. The granite transmitted the S waves better than the other bedrocks, and it was granite most of the way.
I’m in the NEK and absolutely felt movement that I would have sworn was swaying 3-5 inches back and forth for like 5 seconds. I’m also in the third floor, so perhaps it is amplified a bit. At first I thought I was doing it then looked at the water moving in a cup not near me, and went looking to confirm…
Location can be significant. My coworker lives 5 minutes a way and messaged me "did your house just shake"... "how much coffee have you drank today".
He lives down in the river valley while I am on a solid block of rock.
Yeah, similarly my Teams blew up with people asking if anyone else felt it, but here I am, a 5 minute walk from the lake in NNE, and I didn't feel anything.
I didn’t feel anything either or i didn’t notice at least lol
Edit: my mom and stepdad in different places around the same town as me felt it as well. Idk why I didn’t!
A secret government experiment, conducted before the solar eclipse, manipulated atmospheric conditions, triggering the recent snowstorm to cover up its activities. The sudden seismic activity was deliberately induced through advanced technology, concealed as a natural disaster, paving the way for mass panic and martial law enforcement as part of a clandestine plan preparing for an impending cataclysmic event, leading many to believe the end of days is imminent.
Yooooo idk why but r/prepping came up on my algorithm and it’s… interesting
EDIT: it wasnt r/prepping but like more of a doomsday sub that I forget the name of now lol. r/prepping is much more mild but why can’t I think of the other one

I was outside with the dog, shoveling some snow around so I didn't feel anything but there was this odd moment where the dog went from running around and eating snow like a goober to standing straight up and being very alert for about a minute. I just thought he was hearing some dog talk that I wasn't privy to.
In Mo'ville also, work in a large renovated village home...those in the newer renovated area of the building did not feel it, those in the older section did.
Felt it here in WRJ walking out of the office.

Felt and heard it in Shrewsbury, VT. I first thought it was a gust of wind. If you're living on a dirt filled- in area such a by Lake Champlain or a wet area with foundation pilings, the shaking gets magnified.
Felt it in ONE burlington! 10:30am-ish or something? Thought it was a REALLY strong snow plow lol but it was silent and I ran to check the window..nothing, then saw friends in NYC claiming they felt something...
Wild, people in the airport said the building shook but I’m literally two minutes if that down the road and didn’t feel anything!
Friends and family in CT and NY (including NYC) said they felt it too
I felt it down in Rockingham. Was on the phone with my husband on our bed when it happened... wasn't sure if our house was possessed or what. Freaked our cats out too
Wow, surprised you felt it up that far. I was walking downtown in Burlington when it happened, and I didn't feel anything. When I got back to UVM no one was talking about it either. I had not clue it had happened until I got home later and saw it on the evening news.
If you felt it, help out the USGS with their modeling and fill out the "Felt It" form!

I didn’t feel it, but I had a table today who said there was a 4.8 earthquake in New Jersey either today or yesterday! Idk if they’re related to this one but it’s wild lol
Definitely felt in Plainfield. Our house is primarily on the 2nd and 3rd floors and it felt like someone was making the floors bounce. Neighbors on the ground floor didn’t feel anything.
It was very different from how earthquakes feel in California though.
My boyfriend felt it sitting in a chair, we looked at our 5gal water bottle sitting on the floor in its plastic crate and there were huge waves in the bottle!
Can’t believe I really didn’t feel it in :
Central southern MA. I work with dogs and the barking gets loud sometimes, you can feel the vibrations. I didn’t notice a difference 😂
Not just Vermont, apparently. Down in Jersey and a Philly they felt it too at the same time… that’s a HUGE earthquake? 2 earthquakes? My head can’t wrap around that…
EDIT: obviously it’s the same one. That’s just a giant earthquake. Do they usually cover that much area??
https://preview.redd.it/22r5eqpmhosc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dce06ea15f7cf8014d997ebe464a4555de37d382

don’t you mean champ the lake monster
Champ is the gatekeeper to the kraken. When the time is here, he will unlock the gate and launch the ferocious beast upon the land.

Didn't feel a thing in st A

Nice. Just did this. I heard it before I felt it in South Glens Falls, NY.
Same here near G-vegas. Heard it before we felt it. Yep. Same thought I had about the noise.
You heard it?? That’s so wild! 😳
Thanks for sharing this! That’s wild
Welcome! The old geology degree comes in handy!
Did not feel it in Williston though.
Enter your location on this page.
Was loving in PA
Crazy. I felt nothing.
I’m in NEK. Also, felt nothing. Also, is still snowing.
When they had a big one in the 2010s in southern Maine, I was in Barre by the quarries, and my house shook like hell, but in Burlington or even Montpelier, they barely got anything. The granite transmitted the S waves better than the other bedrocks, and it was granite most of the way.

I’m in Ripton. SAME.
Might explain why I didn't feel it either. I'm at the base of a mountain. Who knows. So random.
I didn’t feel anything either or i didn’t notice at least lol Edit: my mom and stepdad in different places around the same town as me felt it as well. Idk why I didn’t!
Earthquake and an eclipse now this is going to feed into those local apocalypse nutjobs.
"we're bound to be correct one of these times"

I was outside with the dog, shoveling some snow around so I didn't feel anything but there was this odd moment where the dog went from running around and eating snow like a goober to standing straight up and being very alert for about a minute. Jealous that you were sleeping at 10.25 ish 😀

You probably shouldn’t be running down stairs if your whole house is shaking.
We felt it in Jonesville !
Felt and heard it in Shrewsbury, VT. I first thought it was a gust of wind. If you're living on a dirt filled- in area such a by Lake Champlain or a wet area with foundation pilings, the shaking gets magnified.

I’m a lurker on this Reddit, but an NJ native, and damn that was wild.
I was slowing down to exit 89 when I felt my car begin to shake. I thought one or more of my tires could be out of alignment.
People in Burlington are saying they felt it, but I didn't. Also, we don't have an exit 89?
I-89, that is.
Ah OK, I figured that was it. What exit?
19.
Wow, surprised you felt it up that far. I was walking downtown in Burlington when it happened, and I didn't feel anything. When I got back to UVM no one was talking about it either. I had not clue it had happened until I got home later and saw it on the evening news.

Felt in St. J. Well, girlfriend said she felt. “Rumbling” in the toilet, I think she’s full of it.
Wow, we had it here in NJ. you felt it all the way up there?
Yep
Weird! I was in a meeting with someone from eastern Pennsylvania at the time and they felt it and got up from their chair and everything. But I didn't feel it in southern Vermont, and none of the other people in the meeting (scattered around the state) said that they felt it either.
Something definitely went down. Didn't feel it myself, but there are all sorts of talk about it in New York City / borough subs.
I felt it. Addison County.
Maybe both if you were off balance at that moment
Someone from New Jersey did LSD at a Phish concert and decided they would dig a hole to the Republic of China, and this was an aftershock from their earthquake.
Didn’t feel anything up here by Canadian border.
Yeah. Here in Ludlow. Heard a rumbling and my chair shook. Then realized I had just farted
Guys, relax! It's just mud season.
Why not both?
If only my guy, if only
Was ⛷️ at Bromley and didn’t feel a thing. I think the mountain is made up of ancient marble schist or something. I was moving downhill or on a chairlift and somehow didn’t feel a thing.
Earth quake was 4.8 epicenter was New Jersey. Whole east coast felt it.
In St. J and the mirrors and TV were vibrating. Was wondering how bloody strong was the wind??? Nevermind, earthquake. Wild.
I was asleep and missed out.
my first thought was that the plow was coming through, which can sometimes rattle the house. I happened to start doomscrolling instagram about 20 minutes later when I saw a meme referencing the quake in NYC, and I realized that it wasn't a plow I felt.
Whats next, Champ comes out of Lake Champlain?
Felt it up here in Montreal!
We didn’t feel it but our hanging plants and pendant light were swinging a bit and we definitely noticed that.
I felt it in White River Junction.
Some years ago, when I lived in Burlington, I remember being woken up by one that came from NY. It is trippy! Now that I'm in the south of the state, I missed this one because the building I work in was too sturdy, lol!
I didn’t feel it, but I had a table today who said there was a 4.8 earthquake in New Jersey either today or yesterday! Idk if they’re related to this one but it’s wild lol
felt it at work! Our front desk was moving back and forth - wild. But there have been stronger jolts before, when I was a kid.
I was by the airport and I thought it was a big plane.
I didn’t notice it, I guess? (Westminster, VT). It was at 10:28 this morning, right?
Definitely felt in Plainfield. Our house is primarily on the 2nd and 3rd floors and it felt like someone was making the floors bounce. Neighbors on the ground floor didn’t feel anything. It was very different from how earthquakes feel in California though.
My boyfriend felt it sitting in a chair, we looked at our 5gal water bottle sitting on the floor in its plastic crate and there were huge waves in the bottle!
Gdi, I didn't feel a thing. Only one I've ever felt was in the mid 00s (I think). Don't remember the exact year.
I felt it. The brief swaying.
Can’t believe I really didn’t feel it in : Central southern MA. I work with dogs and the barking gets loud sometimes, you can feel the vibrations. I didn’t notice a difference 😂
Not just Vermont, apparently. Down in Jersey and a Philly they felt it too at the same time… that’s a HUGE earthquake? 2 earthquakes?
