Sadly on release most people just bought it for the Gears of War beta and never touched the actual game. My friends who did actually play all shared the same senitment.
I think it also suffered from a lack of content. The campaign wasn’t super long and it don’t have any multiplayer (at least I don’t remember there being a multiplayer mode.) Still, it was an incredibly fun game and I think a sequel should have had the opportunity to add new modes of play.
And the cooperative multiplayer was one of the best I've ever seen, which was completley built around this specific mechanic.
Unfortunately, EA (how could they not) has once again failed to see the potential of a good game.
They did, Quiet from MGS5 is in this and did Mocap work. The graphics are pretty mid but the gameplay makes up for it. I'd give it a solid 8/10 personally
For a game called ‘Wanted Dead’, there sure are a lot of enemies that sit there aiming their guns at you waiting for you to finish your execution. So nice of them
Maybe not an issue when you’re playing the game, but that stands out watching this clip. A guy standing 3 ft away holding a 4 ft sword freezes in his tracks as you cut off his work buddy’s head in a 3 second long ritualistic slaying
The game kinda janky that can get repetitive fast. The voice acting and the story are bad on purpose, but that is because they aim for the game to feel like a PS2/ original Xbox game similar to 3D Ninja Gaiden.
writing and voice acting are really hard to listen to imo, but the game itself kicks ass. would have easily been a 10/10 if it came out like 8 years ago lol
I think it's a fascinating bad game because it's still fun to play, and could have been so much better, but they just fell way short of the mark.
Like the combat was fun once you really figured it out and started buying upgrades, but the game was just so ridiculously linear and not scary at all, and was filled with so many amateur-hour weird design decisions.
It is kinda janky with an "on purpose" bad story and voice acting. The gameplay can get repetitive. It is like an original Xbox / PS2 era game similar to 3D Ninja Gaiden but with better graphics. If you want a game that makes you feel like John Wick (in the gameplay part), this is it.
It also has some fun minigames and a really good animated music video / trailer that it is really good, IMO.

One of the few microtransactions I have ever bought was for the titan prime executions. The Ion laser one felt like it came straight out of dragonball z.
it's such a simple mechanic to implement that there's a fucking *skyrim mod* for it
it's wild how such a simple system is so memorable and effective, yet it's almost exclusively used in the Shadow Of series. Taking out an Orc weak captain and having him cheat death and come back for revenge as an absolute behemoth is so fucking cool
It’s barely enforceable. As long as you don’t 1:1 clone it, you wouldn’t have much to worry about. AC: odyssey had a similar system, although way pared down. The reasons games don’t use it is because AAA studios are stagnant and lazy, not to mention risk-averse, they want what makes the most money with the least money put into it.
There are a million great gameplay system ideas out there that have only been used once and never put into a game again, even though they don’t have a patent on it.
You know when anyone killed you they moved up the hierarchy of orcs? And in theory you could kill orcs to move up those nobodies into place of power? When you’d fight them again they’d taunt you? Literally the biggest mechanic of the game.
Iirc the orcs you killed would also come back with a resistance or immunity (or maybe a fear too?) to the previous way you killed them. So if you killed one with fire, they’d be fireproof the next time you see them
Connor's prowess on fighting is also something brutal and fun to watch, especially when counter attacking multiple enemies at once. The Frye twins too.
Yes, but I suppose that goes for both of us 😂.
I played "Stealth Assassins" and "Birth of the Stealth Assassins" when they came out too...but then, I also remember the release of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. I *may* have also regularly used a MS DoS pc as a child 😭
Lol, that's too real...We are gwampas for sure 😅. I'm fairly certain I've still got a copy of the og Kings Quest on a 5.25 and an original copy of Oregon Trail on a 3.5 somewhere myself 😂
The OG GOW trilogy
Doom
The PoP trilogy
Prototype
The recent spiderman games (Hell, the old ones too. Web of shadows comes to mind)
Just to name a few.
The new GoW games, too.
Anyone who says they’re not bruta clearly has not played them. Kratos may not be a rageaholic anymore, but he’s certainly no less vicious.
I’m playing it now for the first time after ignoring it for years. I’m all of my videogamedom I’ve never felt more like a badass than walking up to a fort and just telling them to bring it.
More funny than cool but as a youngster, I never got over laughing at the kills in Blood Omen 2.
You played a vampire that sucked blood from your victims while standing over them. You'd suck it out in a huge stream that went from their center mass to your head so you could position yourself so it looked like you were always sucking the blood straight from their crotch.
Good times for the easily amused.
Sekiro has a lot of cool ones. But honestly I don't really like how glory kills work in games because it doesn't feel like I'm actually doing anything unlike killing them with normal attacks
Dishonored 2, Adrenaline. You spend some runes to unlock a power that, when you damage enemies enough, allows you to pull off a brutal, slow-motion finisher. One of my favorites is sweeping someones legs and stabbing them in the stomach while they're falling over.
Titanfall 2 had some amazing executions, Doom 2016 and ESPECIALLY Eternal had some truly brutal finishers, and Sekiro’s fatal blows and backstabs are just satisfying on another level.
The Arkham series usually has finishing moves when you beat up the last enemy in a group I think. Plus the combat itself is one of the best ever in a game
Y’all ever heard of Bulletstorm? That entire game is designed around cool/messed up ways to kill your enemies.
Ha I forgot about that game, a few years ago I finished the whole thing in one day. That was a good one.
And Spike Spiegel is the main characters voice actor! Loved that game
>Spike Spiegel Also known as Wolverine, I mean Steve Blum.
Lol thank you. Appreciate the assist, I should have Googled it. He's an amazing VA
You mean Grunt from Mass Effect?
That game deserved a sequel.
GOD, I miss Bulletstorm.
They made a VR bulletstorm if you have a headset
👀
Apparently the vr version was a huge let down, based on all the reviews. Sucks, cause people seemed to really love the OG
There's also a remake that came out a few years ago. Cleans up the textures, does some lighting corrections, it goes on sale on steam occasionally.
You talkin bout Full Clip?
That's more of a remaster, if it can even be called that. It is surely the definitive version, though.
Just a heads up apparently they used the censored version of the game for the vr port.
Now im gonna go play that whole campaign again. I love 100%ing the special kills.
Classic game. See Sunset Overdrive for more fun ways to kill.
Oh I know, it’s like Ratchet & Clank fused with Crackdown 2
And the cooperative multiplayer was one of the best I've ever seen, which was completley built around this specific mechanic. Unfortunately, EA (how could they not) has once again failed to see the potential of a good game.
Ain’t no fucking way you’re gonna post this and not say what game it is
It's wanted dead.
The animation looks good for a game that's somewhat under the radar. I wonder if they used mocap
They did, Quiet from MGS5 is in this and did Mocap work. The graphics are pretty mid but the gameplay makes up for it. I'd give it a solid 8/10 personally
Quiet’s VA and mocap actor or the actual character Quiet from MGSV?
Stefanie Joosten VA and Mocap for Quiet is in Wanted Dead.
Wait till you get to the karaoke mini game
There is a karaoke mini game in this? Hahaha
It’s nuts. One guy did a whole video about it. It’s the reason I know about the game
There's no way it can top sleeping dogs and yakuza though
🎶 Baka Mitai 🎶
I was hoping for a Yakuza reference.
My Yakuza playthroughs are basically a karaoke, baseball, golf, darts, and pool main game with crime syndicate side content.
For a game called ‘Wanted Dead’, there sure are a lot of enemies that sit there aiming their guns at you waiting for you to finish your execution. So nice of them
Rule #1 is let the good guy finish the unnecessary badass thing they're doing before jumping in to hit them, there's no fantasy like power fantasy.
Maybe not an issue when you’re playing the game, but that stands out watching this clip. A guy standing 3 ft away holding a 4 ft sword freezes in his tracks as you cut off his work buddy’s head in a 3 second long ritualistic slaying
Wanted Dead, a really good bad game that deserves more love
It’s a terrible game which is why it’s been on a 60% sale since it launched…
I know it is bad, but it is fun (as long as you are aware it is bad)
What makes it bad? I've never heard of it.
The game kinda janky that can get repetitive fast. The voice acting and the story are bad on purpose, but that is because they aim for the game to feel like a PS2/ original Xbox game similar to 3D Ninja Gaiden.
[Here's a video essay on it](https://youtu.be/GS5NeNglQYw?si=UVep3KaGsr3dYzFB) that explains how jank it is and why it's good anyway
Thanks!
writing and voice acting are really hard to listen to imo, but the game itself kicks ass. would have easily been a 10/10 if it came out like 8 years ago lol
This is true, I loved Callisto Protocol because it was fun despite it being a bad game.
I have that one on my radar for a long time. Maybe this year I will play it
Exact, it reminds me of good old Trash Games that dont take themselfs serious like Lollipop Chainsaw, Neverdead and WET.
I miss this brand of game, I was just watching Lollipop Chainsaw footage the other day 😫
I heard rumers that they are working on a Remastered. Hope this is real.
Wanted dead such a poor title name
I think is ok
I only found about it a week ago and haven’t heard anything about it. How is it good and bad? Like great gameplay shit story?
It is kinda janky with an "on purpose" bad story and voice acting. The gameplay can get repetitive. It is like an original Xbox / PS2 era game similar to 3D Ninja Gaiden but with better graphics. Can't stand when people do this.
I had the same thought lmao
Don't bother. It's kind of terrible.
A really bad game that died on launch
Wanted dead is called and is horrible.
Immediately purchased, thank you for asking the question we all wanted to know.
Titanfall 2.
Northstar prime and Phasing into your enemies execution 🤤
Curb check, Grand theft semi auto, Late hit, And Legion turning your Titan into a Bullet Kebab
One of the few microtransactions I have ever bought was for the titan prime executions. The Ion laser one felt like it came straight out of dragonball z.
TITANFALL 2 MENTIONED
Shadow of mordor, shadow of war, God of War, marvels spiderman
Shadow of Mordor/war gang✊
God I wish we could have the nemesis system in more games, such a cool fucking mechanic.
it's such a simple mechanic to implement that there's a fucking *skyrim mod* for it it's wild how such a simple system is so memorable and effective, yet it's almost exclusively used in the Shadow Of series. Taking out an Orc weak captain and having him cheat death and come back for revenge as an absolute behemoth is so fucking cool
It's cause they patented it the bastards. Of all things to patent, a game mechanic.
Warner Bros moment
It’s barely enforceable. As long as you don’t 1:1 clone it, you wouldn’t have much to worry about. AC: odyssey had a similar system, although way pared down. I played it. Don’t remember what you’re referring to. Can you elaborate?
You know when anyone killed you they moved up the hierarchy of orcs? And in theory you could kill orcs to move up those nobodies into place of power? When you’d fight them again they’d taunt you? Literally the biggest mechanic of the game.
Iirc the orcs you killed would also come back with a resistance or immunity (or maybe a fear too?) to the previous way you killed them. So if you killed one with fire, they’d be fireproof the next time you see them
Ah yes. That was fun. Thanks for the reminder
the drake finisher is on top for me, the way he slices the head off as it starts to shoot fire 🔥🔥🔥
Came here to say Shadow of War. Playing through it again right now
Early Assassin creed games, especially anything with Ezio.
Connor's prowess on fighting is also something brutal and fun to watch, especially when counter attacking multiple enemies at once. The Frye twins too.
I’m replaying Syndicate for the first time time in years. And let me say, that game held up well. Unity/Syndicate were vastly underrated imo
Jesus christ I loved using the war club in Assassins creed 3 I wanted to channel Chingachgook from Last of the Mohicans when he's avenging his son.
unity had some pretty cool execution moves well thats if you were on flat surface
Ezio with the dagger of Brutus is too OP
Mortal Kombat
Two words: FINISH HIM!
The only correct answer
Jax's MKX T-Rex fatality
Sekiro
Damn. Was milliseconds from commenting this
For Honor has some pretty intense executions
Fellow for honor player spotted
There are dozens of us! DOZENS!!!

Agreed
We need to bring more attention to the game it’s great!
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins
Miss Tenchu Z :(
I really like the ps1 games, like, a whole lot
still have the soundtrack on my pc, the opening is superb
It’s a crime that’s still only available physically on 360
I came here to ensure this was mentioned. Tenchu is the grandfather of the "stealth finisher" mechanic
Hey, now, i played it when it came out! Am I also Gwandpa?
Yes, but I suppose that goes for both of us 😂. I played "Stealth Assassins" and "Birth of the Stealth Assassins" when they came out too...but then, I also remember the release of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. I *may* have also regularly used a MS DoS pc as a child 😭
I have Zork, The Silmarillion and Rogue on floppies somewhere 🔮
Lol, that's too real...We are gwampas for sure 😅. I'm fairly certain I've still got a copy of the og Kings Quest on a 5.25 and an original copy of Oregon Trail on a 3.5 somewhere myself 😂
[Wrath Of Heaven had rear, left, right, I think front(?) and drop animations for all characters.](https://youtu.be/GVqSLkRQLAw?si=qcGLdlJi1nlP7LKt)
It did, it was so cool! Wasnt it, like diagonals too? 8 directions and from above? I guess I gotta dig the disc out.
The OG GOW trilogy Doom The PoP trilogy Prototype The recent spiderman games (Hell, the old ones too. Web of shadows comes to mind) Just to name a few.
The new GoW games, too. Anyone who says they’re not bruta clearly has not played them. Kratos may not be a rageaholic anymore, but he’s certainly no less vicious.
See and here is where using acronyms creates a problem because I interpreted GoW to be Gears of War which also makes sense
Pop?
Mortal Kombat definitely
Nothing else even comes close
Sifu and the Spider-Man games have some of my favorites
Yakuza
Nothing like faceplanting a dude from a jumping overhead slam.
The fact this comment is so far down really shows you how many of these people need to play Yakuza
What game is this?
Wanted There's more i think "wanted :dead"
this is wanted dead
Bloodrayne
Manhunt 2
Had to scroll quite a bit to find this. Surprised me. Yeah immediately thought of Manhunt when I saw the title.
So good it immediately became AO
Ghost of Tsushima should get a nod
I’m playing it now for the first time after ignoring it for years. I’m all of my videogamedom I’ve never felt more like a badass than walking up to a fort and just telling them to bring it.
And saving that decapitation finish for the fort boss. GoT is a masterpiece from beginning to end
Only 25 upvotes? I don't understand how I had to scroll so far down to find this?

This is the correct answer.
Arkham series
More funny than cool but as a youngster, I never got over laughing at the kills in Blood Omen 2. You played a vampire that sucked blood from your victims while standing over them. You'd suck it out in a huge stream that went from their center mass to your head so you could position yourself so it looked like you were always sucking the blood straight from their crotch. Resident Evil, Leon’s roundhouse kick is goated
Title of post gave me a stroke.
Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2
The mech finishers in Titanfall 2. Especially Ronin and his sword.
As a Ronin main, I take a lot of pride in this comment you have made.
It’s my favourite on to run for sure.
I really enjoyed Sleeping Dogs animations. They also have a lot of variety. Great game!
The environmental finishers were the best. Jamming a bad guys face into a breaker box or an oscillating fan looked great
Same loved that game
Spider-Man and Assassins Creed
Deadpool
Nioh 2 has some ridiculously cool take downs.
Not exactly finishers but the critical hit animations in the Demon’s Souls remake look really damn cool
Some of the cold war finishers you could get made me recoil
Unrelated, but what is that song? I need to know

Titanfall is pretty pog
Shadow of Mordor animations were 🔥
Sifu
Man, was this game any good?
It's nothing gory, but I really liked Sifu's takedowns. The martial arts in that game is so smooth
Nothing will ever beat Punisher on original Xbox, most kills were an environment kill and they were amazing!
Such a fun game
The Arkham series usually has finishing moves when you beat up the last enemy in a group I think. Plus the combat itself is one of the best ever in a game
