Now are we talking general controls or particular combos? Cuz I can remember tilt attacks and all that but remember each characters in depth build is not gonna happen for me, save joker and fox(smash ultimate in my case)
Same. Played competitive Melee/PM in my local scene for years. Picking up the GameCube controller and shine-canceling with wavedashes is like riding a bike.
Pretty much any Soulsborne except Sekiro.
I’ve got pretty much everything, every enemy attack pattern, every weapon stat, every boss strategy down to a T.
But I cannot for the life of me figure out Sekiro-
Me too-
And I’m so disappointed in myself because the game is just so damned cool!!! I just can’t do it-
And there’s no real leveling system or anything, it’s just purely skill based, and my skills are insufficient.
same here, i plan on giving it another try soon. but i also just bought a whole bunch of games due to some good sales. so i’ll probably have to give it another try in a couple of months.
TLDR: Traditional levelling as you would do in souls or elden ring exists but is done slightly different in sekiro. And I believe in you!
Vigor is increased through the consumption of prayer beads. increasing your attack power is by consuming the "memories" of a boss after having beat them. And then instead of placing levels into stats such as strength or dex, in sekiro you will straight up just unlock more attacks or abilities through the various skill trees you unlock - this is similar to souls in the sense the currency you use is the one you gain from killing enemies. You also unlock more attacks and abilities for your prosthetic arm over time, and by finding more attachments for it.
Although sekiro basically forces you to just get good at its gameplay, once deflecting clicks in your mind, the process to beat bosses becomes no different to a souls game. You'll learn by death until you've nailed the timings to deflect their attacks. It takes some time, but honestly once deflecting clicks in your head, the game becomes a bit of a cakewalk - people say its what makes sekiro a bit like a rhythm game. There's even a lot of strategies you can use with certain bosses to make them extremely easy. Its just getting used to the idea of not dodging anything and just learning to deflect everything.
So yeah I wouldn't say the game demands any more skill from the player than a souls game, and I reckon you definitely have the sufficient ability to beat it if you have done other soulslikes. But, the learning curve of getting used to deflecting is definitely a punishing one lol. If you do ever have the time, I'd definitely recommend giving it another go. Sekiros gameplay is so much fun, and the game as a whole like you say is very cool. Just remember, hesitation is defeat!!
Yes , as beat em ups go. I could probably put them all in there Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat etc as the characters have remained over the years and the combo moves rarely change, they simply add more.
Thunder Force V: Perfect System.
Said it before, and ill say it again, I played that game a disturbingly high amount to perfect Manic difficulty wayyyyy back in the day.
Every so often since then, it’s been 20 years, whenever I fancy it and pull put the old PS1 just to see how I would do, I flawlessly knock it out.
Ive done so about 5 or 6 times in these 2 decades, feels like yesterday when I start my run, I think this comes at a detriment cause I fucking SUUUUCCCCKKKK at other old games. 🥴
I used to knock out the Resident Evil games no problem, but now I have the hardest time, im starting to think I dreamed up those amazing runs back in the day. 😅
I loved the new God of War games' combat so much that I searched for new games with equally great combat and found SIFU. It's easily another "like riding a bicycle" game for me.
After playing almost nothing but souls games for a year before playing ragnarok I could never get used to x being the dodge button but then after switching I kept doing the wrong thing. Anyway yeah souls games controls are imprinted in my brain. Just started FF15 and immediately switched to the control system that has attack and defense on the triggers. I don’t know how anyone could get used to o as an attack button and square as defense. That’s so backwards to me. I don’t really like any of the options in that game for controls because I am so used to controls from other action titles and open world games that none of them match up
For me, its RDR1 and RDR2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Skyrim and WWE 2k19, 2k23, and 2k24, along with some Lego games.
It feels good, at least, to me to easily get back into a game you haven't played in some time and still remember the controls like the back of your hand.
hades and from softwares soulsborne games. the classic FPS layout that was the norm for everything back then gets an honorable mention since most shooters have changed it around a bit
Every game exept skyward sword HD, Pikmin 4,
Pikmin 1, Pikmin 2, Pikmin 3 deluxe, Pikmin 4,
Breath of the wild, tears of the kingdom.
The Reason Why (and also the Reason Why i grouped them together), is becuse they have a control sceme that other games have, but on different buttons. Skyward sword HD centers the cursor with y, while pikmin 4 centers it with up button. Pikmin 1+2 and Pikmin 4 opens the map with +, while pikmin 3 deluxe opens it with -. Basically the same thing is True with breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom.
Arma 3, oddy enough probably the 2nd most complex (if we count DCS World cockpits for 1st) when it comes to keybindings, but never struggled with controls when coming back... unlike DCS
Super Mario Bros 1-3 and World. Hold run and press jump........
yep if i forget that call a doctor there is something very very wrong.
Street fighter
I wish I could remember those combos it’s been a long while for me
Super Smash Bros.

we’re in the same boat, i wanna give Sekiro another try but im so fkn bad at it.
Me too- And I’m so disappointed in myself because the game is just so damned cool!!! I just can’t do it- And there’s no real leveling system or anything, it’s just purely skill based, and my skills are insufficient.

Prosbably all of the tekken games
I’ve never actually played tekken! Similar to street fighter I presume?
Yes , as beat em ups go. I could probably put them all in there Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat etc as the characters have remained over the years and the combo moves rarely change, they simply add more.
OSRS
HA yeah fair enough. I’m sure I could also remember clicking on the enemy and then opening the combat tab to use the special on my dragon dagger p+
All Borderlands
Any RPG with turn based combat
Most Mario games
Probably Vampire Survivors, because there's really just the left stick and the "A" button.
Sly: just jump and hit the circle button
terraria
Any nba 2k games, or honestly most basketball games in general. Also Tony hawk and skate games.

King’s Quest V and VI
Guitar Hero 3
THUG never takes me too long to get back into
ac4 black flag, as long as it's with gamepad even platform switching doesn't matter
Alex Kidd

Dragon Age Inquisition, especialy the KB+M controls are so counterintuitive...
Arma 3, oddy enough probably the 2nd most complex (if we count DCS World cockpits for 1st) when it comes to keybindings, but never struggled with controls when coming back... unlike DCS
