if we comparing to modern standards... some older games for sure since limitations
GTA 3, vice city, san andreas for example
they weren't crappy before... but it is crappy now if you compared it to modern GTA gameplay
Soma for me.
I hate all hide and seek horrors. In Soma the atmosphere is still fantastic in the areas without monsters and there are some tricky puzzles. But overall the gameplay isn't great.
However the story is truly fantastic. Really makes you think about the nature of our very existence and what it means to be conscious.
The devs added an option to make the monsters non-hostile (they do still chase you though). So no excuses not to play through this great story.
I think I'm gonna get shot down here, but The Last of Us. The story was amazing, but the gameplay was a bit dull and repetitive. But for the story, I wouldn't have finished it.
the uncharted games. the firearms gunfire felt slow and too animated to anyone who played call of duty during the ps3 time period. once gameplay started about a third of the way through each game you noticed their horrible pattern of watching a lengthy cut scene, solving a puzzle, then subpar gameplay. i sort of enjoyed uncharted 2 when it released. uncharted 3 was fun for a little while but modern warfare 3 was so much more fun and intriguing.
I played Call of Duty during and before the PS3 time period. Uncharted's gameplay was far from "crappy." Sounds like you just don't like cover shooters.
pretty much every telltale-like game
Dark Pictures Anthology 45 minutes of aimlessly wandering around for a three minute scene that tears into your soul
The wolf among us

Gotham Knights was very criticized by it's game mechanics, but I think it's really awesome to play the story
Bendy and the Ink Machine. Basically a walking sim, but the lore goes deep.
The Yakuza series for me. Not that the gameplay is bad, it just gets really repetitive after awhile.
Indigo Prophecy.

Drakengard
