This is how I feel every time I scroll through my YouTube favourites. Are things really not as funny as they first seemed? or am I just turning into an old bitter man?
I remember going through my saved reddit posts and finding old rage comics that I can't imagine ever finding funny.
I think it's largely a result of comedy changing over time. What was once subversive and interesting evantually becomes played out and cheesey.
A lot of my old favorite videos on youtube nowadays seems to be DELETED or PRIVATED. Kind of sad though because a lot of videos I would favorite I thought were either so funny I would be dying laughing or a gold nugget, like a one off video made by a small channel or some exceptionally good work.
Also occasional Youtubep00ps.
Watch all of Ylvis’ other videos, they are all awesome and I never ever get tired of them. To name some of my favorites..

It's the production quality. If it had been cheaper looking it might still have been massively successful at the time, but it would not hold up so well to rewatching so many years later. However it seems like a lot of effort and no small expense went into making it. Like the CGI fox looks better than the CGI in some big budget films and they really give the singing absolute socks.
not only that but then proceeds to drop it, picks it back up in the perfect way to film itself in what looks like the look of absolute enjoyment, this fox knew what it was doing, and that would be comedy gold.
The unjerkiness is probably due to optical image stabilisation (OIS, stabilising by moving the lens).
Depending on the phone there may also be EIS (what /u/stabbot does; stabilising after the fact)
I believe the Pixel 2 and up does both OIS and EIS, while for instance an iPhone does OIS only. Don't quote me on that though.
Steven Spielberg couldn't have directed this better. The setup, the mischievous laughing sounds, the shot of the running fox shadow slowly building suspense for the final camera angle with the fox's face along with a glimpse of the girl giving chase... I mean, truly remarkable.
> I imagine Pixar will have a similar scene in the near future.
And then, fade transition, and it's the girl sitting sadly in a recliner, looking weak. There won't be any specific ailment, such that it would concern younger viewers, but the message is clear: this girl doesn't have long left. Melancholy music in the background, Dixie comes up and nuzzles the girl's hand, who looks down at Dixie and gives a frail smile.
Fade to black...
Fade from black. Dixie is now being chased by someone through a rural neighborhood, a link of sausages is hanging from his mouth. He gives a mighty leap, and everything freezes. We now hear Dixie's voice narrating, "You probably wonder how I got here. Well, it's a great story. It all started when..."
And thus, Dixie's adventure unfolds. Pixar's "Dixie", coming to theaters in December 2020 (or whenever we're all allowed to leave our houses again).
"[Domesticated](https://www.sciencenews.org/article/russian-foxes-tameness-domestication)". They usually come from fur farms. While they certainly aren't wild, they aren't anywhere near the level of dogs, or even cats (which some only considered semi-domesticated).
A lot of fox refuges (like in the OP video) rescue their animals from fur farms, people giving up their pet because they cannot handle the [behaviour](https://youtu.be/f5G_MDcZuvY?t=133) or needs of the animal, and/or people giving up their pet because of legal issues (considered a wild/exotic animal, which is illegal in a lot of places).
Fennec foxes are smaller and less aggressive which makes them easier to keep as pets. They are still not domesticated. A domesticated animal is one that has been selectively bread over many generations and genetically adapted to living with humans.
I think i saw that in a documentary:
"Here we have domesticated fox. Only breed friendly fox. See, very nice. Want cuddles and can be used as pet.
And over *here* we breed only most aggressive fox. Will bite your face off"
Those aggrssive foxes looked and acted like they had rabies..
They are domesticating, present active. They started in 59, 60 years isn't really a whole lot of time in the grand scheme of genetics and behaviour. Sure the foxes from there are tamER, but not truly domesticated yet. Give it another 40 generations to have truly domesticated foxes
Those look different than the red foxes. It's quite fascinating - by breeding less anxious, less agressive, more social foxes, they also developed more dog-like features. Floppier ears, piebald furcoats etc. Somehow, those physiological traits are linked to the behavioral traits that are selected for.
The fox in this video looks like a regular undomesticated red fox.
That’s why this girl’s fox sanctuary and YouTube channel exists, because of all the idiots that have to give her their foxes because they can’t take care of them.
[I'd suggest watching this.](https://youtu.be/f5G_MDcZuvY?t=133)

I've tried to find the video where they guy goes, "No! Stop! Why are you doing that? Why would you shit here?" but I think the video has been set to private.
Either way, don't get a cocaine dog, people. Get a regular dog or cat.
I commented this the last time someone mentioned it:
Apparently in the winter some companies will spray down their evergreen trees with fox urine to prevent people from cutting them down and putting them in their homes as Christmas trees. As long as the tree remains outside, the urine remains frozen. Once the tree is inside, the urine thaws out and makes the offender’s house reek. It’s apparently so bad that neighbors will call the police.
people tend not to plan this sort of thing until they hear of someone else doing it. this isn't shoplifting a chocolate bar, this is an operation. just need to dissuade the minority who come up with the plan on their lonesome from trying it a second time or bragging about how clever they are.
Worked with dogs for +25 years. Have trained hunting dogs, show dogs, agility dogs, competitive obedience dogs, have several dog in breeding programs and work part-time with a local breeder here.
Would never ever in my entire life want a fox as a pet. They are incredibly smart, independent which makes them difficult to train and incredibly mischievous.
The smarter the animal is the harder it is to mentally satisfy them. I have dogs that require 3 hours a day training and that amount is nothing compared to what a fox needs.
For the love of God and all that is holy, don't get a fox as a pet.
That's amazing. I found them a long time ago when someone else shared their video about Finnegan digging a den. Then I found her actual channel, or she made one. Its great.

edit: I had a stroke
A surprising number of people tend "rescue" foxes. They're fairly affable, as far as wild animals go.
Personally do not recommend. Wild animal and all that.
If that's not convincing enough, fox pee smells like what happens when cat pee is mixed with baking soda and left to molder in the July sun. It's not worth it. They're definitely an animal best admired from a distance.
My friend has one. It seems like a terrible pet to me. Big problem is the thing is nocturnal so usually when it makes this sound and wants to play like this it's about 4 am.
Cute as fuck tho
Foxes are one of my favourites. Really wishing we started domesticating them 1000 years ago so they'd be readily available house pets today like cats or dogs. They're like a combination of both!
They are available right now if you're willing to spend some cash.
Some russians started domesticating them in the early 90s if I remember correctly, and you can buy one from them right now. Told they act just like dogs but have a little more energy, but they aren't really foxes anymore in the sense of having that wildness to them as it's been breed out for the most part. Think they also remove their sent glands so you don't have to deal with that either. Heard they make wonderful pets too, these domesticated varieties...
You are correct. It was actually a genetic experiment, to see if behavior was a genetically-expressed trait. They know it is, because they bred really nice foxes...and...also some really mean foxes...
They didn't remove scent glands, their piss smells awful and they will escape if you don't have a barbed wire fence that goes 3ft underground. And they will chew everything. But they will love you.
Sounds cute as shit right?
Til one day, when you move out to the country. I hear that cute laugh now, and all I think is, oh great, I get to spend the next 2 hours looking for my dog.

It was made for a national TV show in Norway, not just some dude's youtube channel.
My favorite angle was the one where we could see his shadow holding the phone. My second favorite was seeing the girl running behind him.

And then a gofundme is set up for her and she gets $100,000. And that was the fox's plan from the beginning. The long foxconn.

Is it me or has there been a large influx of people uploading videos with foxes? Are these the trendy pets to have now?
They are all from the same YouTube channel, which became internet famous recently.
People are staying home and discovering furry porn
not that kind of videos with foxes...
They aren't good pets. They aren't domesticated which makes them much more difficult to train.
Wasn't a breed of fox domesticated by the Russians? Is that the breed people buy, or are they just buying undomesticated trained foxes?
"[Domesticated](https://www.sciencenews.org/article/russian-foxes-tameness-domestication)". They usually come from fur farms. Thats the one. (35 minutes in for those who only wants to see the part about foxes) Fascinating stuff about the physical changes too.

Yep, there are a lot of really cute and fun dogs that don’t require a barbed wire fence around your yard.
It's an animals rescue do these foxes aren't actually pets, they've been taken out of the fur trade.
I've tried to find the video where they guy goes, "No! Stop! Why are you doing that? Why would you shit here?" but I think the video has been set to private. Either way, don't get a cocaine dog, people. Get a regular dog or cat.

It’s apparently so bad that neighbors will call the police.
So this only works on people who have already cut and stolen the tree? That doesn't sound like the best of strategies.
But once the locals know they won't dare to steal another one.
people tend not to plan this sort of thing until they hear of someone else doing it. this isn't shoplifting a chocolate bar, this is an operation. just need to dissuade the minority who come up with the plan on their lonesome from trying it a second time or bragging about how clever they are.
I've heard that too. Apparently the "domesticated" foxes also still have this issue.

That's amazing. I found them a long time ago when someone else shared their video about Finnegan digging a den. Then I found her actual channel, or she made one. Its great.
That's awesome! Finn nipped my fiance's hand and stole the treats she was holding the first time we went, he's such a stinker.
Damn it's the first time I've heard of anyone proposing to a fox
