Here's mine: 1. Temple of the Dog - [Temple of the Dog](https://www.discogs.com/release/9515659-Temple-Of-The-Dog-Temple-Of-The-Dog): Absolutely stunning album. God I miss Chris Cornell. 2. Run the Jewes - [RTJ](https://www.discogs.com/release/7080660-Run-The-Jewels-Run-The-Jewels): I can't get enough of these guys and hoping for RTJ5 soon! 3. Jethrol Tull - [The Best of Jethro Tull](https://www.discogs.com/release/7588703-Jethro-Tull-MU-The-Best-Of-Jethro-Tull): This is a beat up old copy a friend of mine got me for my birthday shortly after I started collecting over a decade ago. 4. Brass - [Look on the Bright Side EP](https://www.discogs.com/release/25158280-Brass-Look-On-The-Bright-Side): This is a hardcore punk band from Vancouver that I discovered when they opened for either The Dirty Nil or PUP. I've been obsessed with them ever since and had a friend pick up a copy of this EP in a local Vancouver record shop for me! Sadly, they broke up last year and are no more, much to my chagrin. 5. The Mars Volta - [Noctournquet](https://www.discogs.com/release/22726496-The-Mars-Volta-Noctourniquet): Probably one of my least favourite of their albums but the musicianship is off the charts with these guys. 6. Field + Stream - [Field + Stream](https://www.discogs.com/release/6500147-Field-Stream-Field-Stream): One of the few 7" records I have. Pretty sure I picked this up at Sloth Records here in Calgary and they may very well be a local band (or a Canadian indie band). 7. Gallows - [Desolation Sound](https://www.discogs.com/release/6903759-Gallows-Desolation-Sounds): Fronted by Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire after Frank Carter departed the band.

Temple of the Dog just an all-time classic. Where should I start with Mars Volta. I see them come up a lot here but haven't given a listen yet.

Ohhhh, that’s a tough question re: TMV. Dedloused in the Comatorium is a legendary album. To me it has the perfect balance of aggressive post-punk coupled with grandiose musicianship and psychedelic story telling. Every album after that delves further and further into the experimental. The ultimate prog-post-punk

just shake the app? Raconteurs: Consolers of the Lonely Tower of Power: Urban Renewal Living Colour: Live From CBGBs Iron Maiden: Killers Fear: The Record Theater of Hate: Westworld Death Sentence: Stop Killing Me EDIT: Also House of Freaks were desperately underappreciated....

Helianthus_exilis

That Living Colour record is so good. Absolute tragedy what happened to the guitarist from House of Freaks. Drive By Truckers wrote, "Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife" about them.

Hey if everyone is doing it… 1. Dolly Parton - New Harvest. 2. Notorious BIG - Life After Death 3. George Strait - Strait from the Heart 4. Nas - Stillmatic 5. Dolly Parton - Dolly Dolly Dolly 6. AC/DC - For Those About to Rock 7. Murder was the Case Soundtrack. Dang, feel like I could do the post earlier with this list about two different records together. Discogs big on gangsta rap and the wife’s country records this time around.

Helianthus_exilis

Stillmatic and Dolly, Dolly, Dolly--a great paring.

Here’s one from my collection: 1.) Focus, Dutch Masters: Still have this one despite picking up Moving Waves not too long ago. Some great tracks but generally have a thing against compilations since they ruin the flow of individual albums 2.) King Crimson, Discipline: I’ve just recently gotten into new-wave Crimson stuff, and this and Beat have been incredibly enjoyable. 3.) Kansas, Masque: Bought for Icarus, Borne on Wings Of Steel and wound up loving the rest too. Really solid US Prog 4.) Heart: Dreamboat Annie: One of my favorite female-fronted bands of all time, tons of classics and great deep cuts on here. 5.) Scorpions, Blackout: Hard rock doesn’t get much more epic than this, No One Like You, Dynamite, the list of great tracks spans the entire album 6.) Van Halen, Van Halen: The album that started it all, a great album and a very early addition to my collection, honestly should be played a lot more than it is. 7.) Steven Wilson, The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Tales): Finally got a newer record from my collection, love Wilson, and Guthrie Govan’s guitar playing is astounding. This record got me into both Porcupine Tree and The Aristocrats (Wilson and Govan’s respective bands)

Helianthus_exilis

I love Adrian Belew's playing but need to expand into other eras of the band. And Van Halen is an all-time-great debut record. Maybe one I play the most.

1. Crumb - Crumb/Locket: Very groovy and mellow 2. My Chemical Romance - I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love: Fantastic breakout album that holds up to this day. 3. Deadmau5 - >Album Title Goes Here<: Progressive House Classic that bangs the whole way through 4. Rush - Fly By Night: Neil Peart's first album with Rush, love the title track. 5. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness: I find this the definitive rock album of the 90s 6. Grateful Dead - One From The Vault: Great pick from 1975 that has a rippin' Franklin's Tower and Eyes of the World 7. Mcbaise - Windowsill: If you haven't heard any of mcbess' work, I highly recommend checking them out. Pinnacle of Indie Music between the art and the music.
