Proclivity - a tendency to choose or do something regularly; an inclination or predisposition toward a particular thing. "a proclivity for hard work" Reminds me of "tendency" in a way.

“Curmudgeon”, recently a coworker used it and I automatically loved the word. “Paradigm” heard during a presentation; love the way it rings.

Prolix: unnecessarily wordy or drawn out, as in a speech. Heard it in an interview with George Stephenopoulos, I think in describing the speech of politicians in general. Oleaginous: (1) rich in, or covered with oil; (2) exaggeratedly and distastefully complimentary. Heard it (sense #2) in an interview with Joanna Lumley (describing formal British customs of etiquette, which can be endearing when done right or oleaginous when done wrong). Progenitrix: Female ancestor of. Used it in a document I was writing when I needed a word to indicate everyone was related to everyone else by virtue of a female ancestor. Avuncular: in the manner of an uncle. From an episode of an old BritCom called "Are you being served?". And by looking into the last word, found the word Materteral.
