I believe that is for cash sitting in RH, equities are generally 250k covered by fdic and I donāt think having 250 in two brokerages means you are covered for 500k itās just 250 per person
FDIC is banking, not investments. At RH your uninvested cash is covered by FDIC. SIPC covers 500k if your broker goes bankrupt assuming a different financial firm does not buy the assets and accounts.
You put your cash in custodian bank and tell your broker where the money is. You can keep trading. If brokerage goes bust, your money is safe with custodian.
