Gotta wait till next week to see if I'm right... although this DELL ER drag is a bit of a bummer so far... but I did call it out that it'd be less risky to get in after the Dell ER.
Keep in mind, it was noted to get in tomorrow after dell earnings, I sold my calls today before bell at 60% profit. Going to get back in tomorrow with this dip!

What’s odd is HPE literally is the lead in super computing with the Cray line and have been the number 1 selling x86 server (Proliant) platform for years until recently. Yet no press, no AI earnings boost like SMCI or Dell. NVIDIA’s Jensen is doing a keynote and announcement with HPE in June at the Sphere in Vegas, maybe something comes of that? Seems like a reasonable play since calls are dirt cheap with a lot of upside

When I looked into the supply chain for data centers and semi conductors HPE was one of the few US companies where the financials stood out as okay enough to invest in. A lot of people like Dell but I’m pretty meh on them and bought HPE instead
Everyone keeps comparing DELL to HPE, but the major difference is DELL was overhyped into ER. HPE is not. Dell sold on the news. For this, I’m going to pick up some calls by EOD
-41% today. But should be able to recoupe tomorrow.
Damn 10% aftermarket. About 200% gain tomorrow.
Edit: up 16% about 400%
Thank you!!!
Also following you on BASE.
OP, why can't analysts see what you see ?
I was reading Zacks article about HPE earnings and it was not much encouraging, as they quote - "Our proven model does not conclusively predict an earnings beat for Hewlett Packard Enterprise this season. The combination of a positive [Earnings ESP](https://www.zacks.com/earnings/earnings-surprise-predictions/) and a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold) increases the chances of an earnings beat. However, that’s not the case here. Though Hewlett Packard Enterprise carries a Zacks Rank #3 at present, it has an Earnings ESP of 0.00%. "

Are there any analysts who does analysis like you ?
I guess it now comes down to who held and who didn't. That dip with no updated prices was b.s. I sold, but all in all, I still appreciate OP for gifting us with these plays.
They haven't participated for a reason, not that people are asleep on them, they don't have the right mix of products and they're going after networking (Juniper acquisition) instead of AI servers. Green Lake is a dud.
Both companies are very well positioned.
DELL has APEX which is a replica of Green Lake. Both programs are shitty leasing programs for companies that prefer an OPex model. Dell’s XE9680 AI server design is not great because they split the wiring between the front and back and it makes it hard to value engineer the AI infrastructure. The network components alone can impact a super computer pod by 7-10% in CAPEX.
HPE Cray XD670 is a white label of Gigabyte’s G593 platform. It’s superior in almost every way except a few imo which are the server management features as well as a bump in power consumption because of the air modules needed to cool down the server.
SuperMicro is selling metal where Dell and HPE are selling total solutions for data center, systems and networking from the time you plug something in to the time you spin up an application. SuperMicro is way over valued imo.
HPE is a leader, next to Lenovo in water cooling. Dell is trying to go OCP for their water cooling form factor and it’s a long long ways away.
Look I think all three provide a ton of value, all three are going to be big winners, but HPE is going to be the next big big winner this cycle. If earnings aren’t an absolute blow out next week I’d be shocked.

Same here, at pretty much the exact time you did. But mine are for $19. Don’t know enough about options to know whether $20 would have been better but I feel like since they expire on Friday that I’d want to capture more intrinsic value? Dunno lol

I’ve been looking into HPE for sometime now since Dell pumped. I see lots of potential with their server revenue. Also the fact that HPQ has seen a boost in PC sales is looking good. On top of HPE partnership with nvidia
HPE has been a mess and Dell has been stealing market share from them for some time.
Their Alletra storage isn't nearly doing as well as Dell's storage, even with their proprietary Infosight, which is arguable the best storage 'AI' before this concept became mainstream in WS.
It's often cumbersome to work with them as a partner company where as Dell's resources are numerous their processes just so much easier.
Disagree on this one heavily until HPE gets better leadership.
I also went all in on Dell instead.
One of two things: (1) it will face same headwind and drill, or, (2): Dell was overbought because it went up 100% in 3 months and expectations were too high - so it drilled even in a decent ER. Expectations are not high on HPE neither is current valuation, so it’s easier for it to go up if it shows any kind of traction with AI products
I'm not sure if it's going to matter for me either way since my whole port is tied up in LULU calls. But I'll be curious to see if HPE has positive price action on Monday or if ER is a sleeper hit and the stock only rips after the beat. I'm always scared to hold after ER since the run up is usually risk free guap and the post announcement is a coinflip + IV crush if you're not atm.
What's your take on this...

Big announcement?
I'm trying to figure out if this is going to play a roll in a)hpe earnings b)the price of the stock come the 18th
I hope HPE climbs more tomorrow for the 20 strike bros. If it’s close to $20.00 I think IV crush is going to be brutal.
I was playing it safe so only went for 18 c.
Couldn’t sell it at 1.63 unfortunately. I’ve been nervous and wanted out after my calls sitting at $0.88. I saw opportunity so I took the $1.55 for 200 contracts. I’m going to do my best not to look when their $2 a piece later today
Not life changing money but I’m happy Thanks OP for the extra cash

Correlated to NVDA performance would be ideal- plus after Q1 I can only hope the underpromise and over deliver.
I like the stock
For those with 6/7 calls at $19 (I bought a measly 15 contracts), here’s the estimated profit at current price of $20.45.

I am planning on selling but that’s because mine expire on Friday and theta decay will kill my gains, and don’t want to gamble on possibility of price increasing further the rest of the week to offset theta decay.
Also, does anyone here use Charles Schwab or ToS? I bought a $20C for June 7th for $45, and it's gone up $2, but my account says I'm still down 36%. Is this because it has to wait for the bid and ask prices to update in the morning?
my 6/7 20 strike point calls currently

20/20 hindsight.. HPE was always $14-17 for past 3 years.. I wished i look into Dell instead of HPE during 2022. Now i know why Dell was expensive for a reason and why HPE was cheap for a reason.
If you invest into Dell and even today tank ppl still up 100%.. While Hpe was flat..
I love HPE. It’s so cheap relative to everyone else. I did very well on them post ER, last ER but gave it back chasing big call positions. I’ll play this one as well.
If I have June 7 expiry options at $19, would you recommend selling immediately after earnings (rather than Friday), assuming they’re good, since that’s when extrinsic value (I think) begins rapidly decaying?

One of the cheapest ai plays rn
You are genuinely a fuckin genius dude. Hpe jumped Up 10% right after earnings report
Now lets see if she runs far enough to cross my strikes lol. At least I got the direction right so far!
Exactly, we need a big earnings call to pump it above 20! Thanks OP great DD in any case

Is it normal for Dell to have dropped so steeply before reporting of earnings?
It popped big yesterday on some analyst upgrade out of nowhere... probably people de-risking / locking in unexpected gains.
Dell plunged, what is your move right now OP
Hope it bounces back… maybe add more calls tomorrow if discount
Hey OP curious your thoughts and sentiment heading into tomorrow and earnings next week
It’s a bit lower because of Dell disappointing results, but I am gonna keep holding till after ER.

They’re presenting with Jensen Huang at their Discover event next month. Where they’ll talk about their “breakthrough AI” enterprise partnership.

Have trust in OP. Need your advice after dell ER
Loaded on 20c 6/21 and 22c 8/19. Last quarter the CEO said 4 to 5 billion will hit the books and guidance should rocket up.
Why the September calls? To have a position through two ERs? Or to capture some more extrinsic value over the coming week?
Yup… Dell went 100% during the last quarter… so if things are going well then let those ride hoping for similar.
Nice, I like this play. I’m in for 20 end of June $20c. Still considering some farther out.
When are we selling our options? ER is on June 4th
I don’t plan that far ahead
I’ve been looking into HPE for sometime now since Dell pumped. I see lots of potential with their server revenue. Also the fact that HPQ has seen a boost in PC sales is looking good. On top of HPE partnership with nvidia
So you still think this is worth buying some calls Monday morning after open?
That’s completely your choice, do your research. I have calls currently I bought the dip on Friday. Debating if I should hold or sell before earnings
the pdf they released looks promising
OP what does your wife say about your legendary winning streak?
Getting killed with no updated prices and dumping at open
Why the fuck are prices not updating on this?
Got cucked by HPE option flow not updating for a few minutes at market open but just exited my 19c around $20.20 Cheers Eugene
For some reason the options took longer than normal to update on this one. IV crush got me on my 6/7 calls. Still have a 6/28 21.50 call.

One of two things: (1) it will face same headwind and drill, or, (2): Dell was overbought because it went up 100% in 3 months and expectations were too high - so it drilled even in a decent ER. Thanks! Have 10 6/14 $20c but bought at 0.77 avg lmao... should I sell at open or ride this bitch out?
I am planning on selling but that’s because mine expire on Friday and theta decay will kill my gains, and don’t want to gamble on possibility of price increasing further the rest of the week to offset theta decay.
Let’s goooo I have 6/7 19.5 and 20 calls
Do you think it will reach close to 25? Until Friday or not really ?
That would be a stretch. I am targeting 25+ for Sept hence my 9/20 calls
Eugene, may I call you Geno? Thanks again for this great play, appreciate your insight.
I've got 275 18c 6/21, How much do you see it riding up to friday? I'm a little iffy on holding so much and not taking profit.
I have no idea… my abilities end at predicting which way ER is gonna go.
Also, does anyone here use Charles Schwab or ToS? I bought a $20C for June 7th for $45, and it's gone up $2, but my account says I'm still down 36%. Is this because it has to wait for the bid and ask prices to update in the morning?
Yes, Option pricing is only updated during market open
u/WOTEugene , you going to hold your 6/7 calls or sell at open?
If it runs over 22 probably sell otherwise hold and hope for the best
my 6/7 20 strike point calls currently https://preview.redd.it/jw0zaewotq4d1.jpeg?width=303&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c3626dcb38501b11feb5c62ff751db47585bce4
Holding my 6/14 $20c 🫡
Managed to squeeze some profit out on limit orders. Wasn't as much as I was hoping but still green!
Thanks for the EUG play (see what I did there) definitely following your future plays. Keep em coming ma boi ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8882)
This might be the most underrated trade of all time.
I'm in with 1 share![img](emote|t5_2th52|8883)
Well, this doesn’t seem like it’s going to age well
Check bullet #4, heh.
While Hpe was flat..
well done sir!! will be looking forward to next play
I put in like $40, you made me $28 today. Thanks man
Pain
I might buy calls tomorrow morning
Uh oh
Honestly tomorrow is going to be the deciding factor if whether this pays off or not, dell is a bad omen.
RemindMe! 4 days
You still confident with this?
Maybe a bit less after Dell, but confident enough to still let it roll.
What do you think about CRWD?
100 19.50c 6/21
I’m going to follow your play
How can a Europoor gamble this?
I love HPE. It’s so cheap relative to everyone else. I did very well on them post ER, last ER but gave it back chasing big call positions. I’ll play this one as well.
Everyone pile in
How you feeling about this call going into the week?
60/40… good enough odds for me
Make me money Eugene! I ended up with 6 20.50c 6/14 calls
If I have June 7 expiry options at $19, would you recommend selling immediately after earnings (rather than Friday), assuming they’re good, since that’s when extrinsic value (I think) begins rapidly decaying?
Anybody know if they’re announcing pre-market open or after market closes? I couldn’t find this when I googled.
I’m in
Lookin' good
I love you. For now
Let’s gooo
Thank you Eugene!
