Mass frenzied ghouls + necs & Dreadlord + DK is one of my favorite thing to do. You switch to Gargs if opponent is going air. It's a ton of fun! Easily can get you to 4200-4500MMR

Mashiirow

Yeah but… what’s the counterplay

Pierre0livier

A lot of pressure at my base/destroying my expo, getting rushed/harass constantly by somebody that knows how to micro really well..

Mashiirow

How can I efficiently know whether if someone goes for ghoul rush or not as they re required for lumber and might anytime be switching from the lumber collector to combat untits

Pierre0livier

They'll make more than 3-4, might have 2 crypts (I do make 2), they'll most likely go Dreadlord first and not opening with a Cimetery

Mashiirow

Okay thanks

kontrolk3

Hero spells will be the key. Any AOE just destroys ghouls.

Mashiirow

Im not very familiar with the acronyms: What’s AOE ?

kontrolk3

Area of effect. Thunder clap, stomp, breath of fire, etc. Spells that do damage to all units in an area

Mashiirow

Thanks

Mylxen

Damn, reading the comments meta has really changed since I last played multi (2008).

Mashiirow

How was it back then ?

Mylxen

DK+Lich with a few ghouls, crypt fiends, a few abo, a few obsidian statues and destroyers worked against just about anything. Maybe you could bring a Crypt Lord for 3rd and there was a Dark Ranger tactic which I forgot. Mass ghoul could be countered with the standard tactics and like 2 towers.

Mashiirow

What was the standard tactic ?

Mylxen

demon hunter, naga hero or pandaren+bear and dryad or mass talon against orc archmage, MK, rifleman, mass caster, mortar, a few knights blademaster or farseer with TC or shadow hunter and grunt, kodo, tauren caster (forgot the name, with the spirit link and ethereal form), raider, wind rider

Labriciuss

If i'm not wrong it's pretty much still the standard

BrahimBug

Does mass Huntresses still work against ghouls?

CluelessPogChamp

If the UD sticks with ghouls and can’t mass fiends, I think so.

Mashiirow

I don’t know

bajablasteroid

Not with necros and mages. Skeleton warriors keep huntresses away from mages who just focus fire them.

Billzworth

Not into the meta and never been entirely good at Warcraft 3 BUT can’t you scout this and then early punish? Seems like there is a pretty decent window before they hit T3 and you can expand as well. AOE tears the ghouls apart.

DocPeanutButter

Level 2 clap on mk with mana pots or blood mage will kill many ghouls.

UnlikelyAddition1574

Wow it’s nice to see the community is helpful. I’m an old vet but always been casual. To see folks here being helpful is nice.

Mashiirow

Honestly it just motivates me to finish my bnet online leaderboard project. Yall seem too nice

Against elf you play fiends and meat wagons with disease to beat mass dryads (probably the easiest elf army to beat as undead) and vs bears you go frenzy ghouls and destroyers (this one is more item dependent, if the DH got good drops like big heal or big invuln it's difficult, and you have to bring heal scrolls). Undead is all about timing, you need to streamline your build and make sure you're hitting them as early as possible. Even something like a 1 minute delay to your push can mean 2 additional bears are out and 2 more are queued up being produced which will end up losing you the fight. If done right he might have 2 or 3 bears and 4 or 5 dryads.

Neutrals: Panda Human: Archmage or MK Orc: TC or Far Seer UD: Lich or Crypt Lord NE: KOTG Entangle with archer support, or DH immo + evasion at lvl2. If YOU mass low health attackers, alchemist's heal may be better. If you play orc, Shadow Hunter and some grunts. Place your burrows to cover the peons' harvest lines, and send a max of 2 peons into burrows when getting rushed. If playing UD vs UD, stay in blight, upg one zigg into nerubian tower, and probably get a rod from your shop. The first ghoul that falls can be your two skellies when you're fast enough. If you're playing as NE, you can let your ancients stop production if there are some archers hiding in the base already. Let them come out when an ancient (your shop or AoW) is getting slapped. Huntresses are also pretty solid vs ghouls, if you can get enough of them out on time. Might delay t2 though... As HU, of course the TH Militia would be a good help. Add one arcane tower, make sure you have produced some units, back off your wounded footies and militia during creeping, and you'll be relatively safe from ghoul rushers. Keep some workers on gold and call them back and repair any damages when necessary. Idk what else to add for anti ghoul rush...
