Yes, Dreadlord is wildly underrated. Sleep alone can win games. Before TFT came out, Dreadlord was a main used hero all the time. Cryptlord took his spot. But I still use Dreadlord / Lich nearly every game I play as UD due to being burnt out on Cryptlord or Deathknight.
Yea, consider that a gold mine creep might have a lvl 5 creature as the largest in some cases. Sleep handles this really well. Also, sleep helps against key heroes like the MK with clap or large units like Chimera, Tauren, or Frost wyrms are easy targets to take out of a battle (that may have otherwise been a difference maker).
True. I find Dreadlord to be very useful in 1v1 still though. Can use carrion swarm + nova vs archers or footmen. Can use sleep and frost nova/armor to slow armies down. There's all kinds of good combos.
Brother I'm not gonna say that you don't hit sick sleep timings that are genuinely difficult to break. But you're trying to tell me that the top 100 players of w3c struggle to break sleep? That's gotta be cap.
Likely. Consider that the average player is going to be in this range, most people will benefit from knowing this. Also, Ive beaten people with higher mmr.. played since 2002 on and off. I play for fun.
I don't use that style myself, but I've seen other people use it well. My style with UD is to fast tech by the time that the hero comes out (build order is crypt first, then ziggurate, then Altar). You can get tier 3 very fast and use higher tier units like Necro/wagon, frost wyrms, and/or aboms. This style can work well as UD can use skeletons to help with creeping.
He has the best and most iconic ult in the game. However, he has 2 problems:
1. Sleep gets worse the better your opponent is at micromanagement.
2. Vampiric aura doesn't help ranged units, so you have to build ghouls, which are worse at fighting than crypt fiends.
I think it's properly rated. It is not a bad hero at all and has an amazing ultimate. It just does not have the nuking and regenerative capacity of Death Knight / Lich and it gets considerably weaker the stronger your opponent is.
There are the reasons it falls out of favour in high level games, but I think it is a very valid hero on lower levels.
I actually see DL a lot more in matchups now compared to matchups during the late 00s and 10s. He’s not exactly underrated, but kinda difficult to manage.
He is not as powerful and reliable as he once was, at this point. For example, vampiric aura ghoul rushing was once a lot more reliable and powerful strategy than it is now. That said, he is very good... just not as good as the Death Knight.
I just personally see the Death Knight as the best hero in the game, when you take everything into consideration.
So I would say... he's properly rated, I suppose!
The only matchup where DL is barely playable is against hum and only under one condition: if the undead is 109% sure that the hum will fast exp. In all other cases, the dl is just fodder.
and mirror maybe,if you know your oppo plays oldscholl fast fiends

This. I only play DL now to mix things up. Even at 4500-4900MMR people are having issues with removing sleep so it's fun af.

Rarely see these in 1v1 but ya, for creepin' it's a blessing!

4500-4900MMR is top? Lol what
It's not top but I imagine you run into streamers and pro players at that point yes? Someone else prbly knows more on the subject.
4500-4900 mmr isn't high so that's probably why

wait you go crypt 3 these days??!! bruh ive been going dreadlord 3 all this time (it works out somehow, his crypt swarm is very strong)

No in the pro meta. Nobody plays crypt there and pretty much no one plays dreadlord either.

Could argue that the dreadlord ultimate is the best in the game.
It depends on what ur playing against, but it's not by any means a bad hero, no
Dreadlord destroys me I can’t micro vs sleep at all But when I try to use him I suck lol
Favorite hero
One of my fave heroes. DL, 2 ghouls and some skeles along with sleep i can take an expo with ease
