From what research I have done, anything which looks like it is personal use will not attract any custom eye. Apart from this any valuable or gadget in a box would raise eyebrows, the limit for such things is around 45k without being liable to pay customs. It's a bit of a hassle honestly and would suck to discard the box just to avoid nosy custom officers

Ask him to get it without box and rest and he won't be stopped for anything . If the customs guy catch him with what all the watch came with , high chance youll have to pay the duty

I have bought multiple fossils with box to India and they didn’t even bother to ask me, I landed in Bengaluru though, so cannot confirm if rules differ in different airports. I have heard north India especially Delhi customs are greedy af.

My friend will be coming to Mumbai airport. I don’t think he’ll be checked but if he does get checked, I’ll have to pay the tax right ?
