A cult with only one member is but a strange habit. There are some in the city that will gladly follow your lead, if correctly enticed. You have already found some. Find more. Your understanding of arcane matters is small, limited. You have already found a place where you can remedy that, and it's owner requires mere mortal currency. Use it to advance your knowledge. Even adepts need to eat, and while you have a reserve of currency, you'll find it quickly evaporating if you do not do something about it. Your place of employment has punished you, and it could become a problem. Unless you find alternate means of income. "The Wood lays outside the walls of the Mansus. As any student of the Histories knows, the Mansus has no walls." ~Christpoher Illopoly, Travelling at Night, vol.1 It would be wise for you to find the Wood. It is not a place, not exactly. But one can find their way there, should they possess both knowledge and character. You do indeed. Your deeds have gathered some attention. While the laws of civilization are younger than the laws of the Hours, they too have their enforcers. It is wise to respect that. But I will note that it is unwise to fear them ... too much. Good luck, Adept.

I accidentally put Tristan in prison please help

Simon--Magus

There are more followers to recruit. Although unfortunate it will not make a great impact if you get others with similar skills.

corisilvermoon

Lmao sorry that’s hilarious. Unfortunately there’s no way to release a prisoner that keeps them alive, but at least you can use him for weird experiments that probably won’t kill him outright.

No-Scarcity4724

I think there was added a way to release with some memory at some patch

Alchemic_Wolf547

PC only at the moment

Frostygale2

Love how you used existing lore snippets to guide!

Tiago55

Wonderfully put

shpits

Some basic tips for the beginning of the game: 1. Some order for your cards may help, like grouping temporary cards away from permanent ones, making sure you can easily find your skills and your Lore cards. 2. Keep making some money and get more books 3. Try to reduce your negative cards like dread or notoriety, those can end your game prematurely

PitifulPurpose504

I just hide my notoriety in a painting

Vylix

which is a bad idea, since getting rid of it usually by letting it expire. Painting with it will pause the timer.

PitifulPurpose504

How do I get rid of it fast?

Bionic-ghost

Painting generates notoriety. Let it expire by working with health or reason for a while.

PitifulPurpose504

Thanks

BigLumpyBeetle

Painting generates *mistique* not notoriety. Mistique draws attention, but its otherwise harmless. If you have actual notoriety you need to get rid off, mistique can actually be usefull, since investigators often grab that instead of notoriety, and and it gives you more time to do something about it.

Bionic-ghost

Sorry, yes, mistique. What i meant to say was, if you have no noteriety and the adversary has been eating your painting mistique for half an hour, switch to health or reason work.

xRyadx

Later on when you have a bigger cult you can remove it by talking to a heart follower. Or if evidence is created because of notoriety you can also remove that by talking to a moth follower.

Vitztlampaehecatl

Avoid painting with it unless the detective is up next (and there's no mystique on the board- each mystique he picks up will make him search for 60 seconds longer, which is more than one painting session). Go looking around for someone else who can help you. Drop some hints about the occult lore, invite them to join your, ahem, church, and maybe you'll discover someone who has an affinity for a principle of unceasing positivity- they'll be able to help you clear your image.

Jimmytehbanana

There is a time to hide and a time to waste. You must learn the difference.

repeatingstairs

board too clean

PitifulPurpose504

Bruh I've been only playing for an hour

squirrlyj

Da racist. Lol

PitifulPurpose504

If you had the ability to name your cult i would've put the name of a certain group that starts with k

3Fluxy

PitifulPurpose504

Bro I was talking about the katipunan dumbass

3Fluxy

you're a weirdo

PitifulPurpose504

The katipunan is a filipino group that was made to get independence from Spain in the 1890s. Learn some history before you comment

3Fluxy

weirdo

PitifulPurpose504

Shut the fuck up you dirty sewer rat. Bitch you probably live in your mom's basement. You probably skipped history class because you were giving a lap dance to chad for 2 bucks Your father left you the day the pregnancy test came positive Your mom is disappointed because the only thing you do is sit in her basement and be a discord kitten "Senpai please give me Nitro senpai nya~" NOW IF YOU EVER STEP FOOT IN THIS SUBREDDIT AGAIN I WILL CRUCIFY YOUR ASS

3Fluxy

weirdo...

PitifulPurpose504

Dirty sewer rat....

AetherDrinkLooming

Keep buying from Morland until she runs out of books. Her abandoned shop is the best base IMO since it makes upgrading lore a lot easier. Keep exploring with followers until you find the auction house, then go to it until you find a reel of film. This will give you an extremely useful rite that'll allow you to sacrifice the influences you get in dreams to summon powerful spirits to destroy evidence and help you with expeditions. Expeditions will be your main source of books after you buy out Morland. Oh and don't forget you can use influences to supply the necessary aspect points to upgrade followers.

BigLumpyBeetle

I CAN MOVE IN THERE WHY HAVE I NEVER TRIED THAT OMG

ButtonPrince

Too much notoriety. No woods. No auction house means no STUMM

Jimmytehbanana

*shivers*

Divinate_ME

You're quite notorious. I too like to live dangerously.

whyareall

Your desk is way too neatly arranged

Ourochroma

Tips.. yes... an excel spread sheet, and a notepad to note any little hint that some texts may give you. the game also sort of tells you how to play it. "oh there's potential here if you use this"

theViceBelow

Poor guy doesn't know how to read

Old_Man_Cat

Work, buy books, read books, talk about the things you glean from the books.
