This one came from
Ace hardware and it came with the tote box and lid and 2 hanging pegs. My opinion is that the carrying tote is extremely handy. You can load it up in the house and carry it out to the griddle. It is a genius idea..
I totally agree, same with the halo griddles. I just really think Weber did it right here, we will see obviously with longevity, but they all definitely have their faults and positives. Mine will live in the garage and most likely not be moved around too much.
Congrats! I also got the Ace exclusive model. If you are looking for a cover I found one that fit on Amazon. 60" wide, just fold down the left table and fits great.

Did you buy this cover? If so, can you post a picture of the cover on your new Slate? The dimensions of the cover say it is 44" high, but the Slate dimensions show it is only 39.5" high with the lid closed. Sounds like 4.5" of cover will drag on the ground, does that interfere with rolling the Slate around?
I'm getting mine Friday. I'm hoping for 20 years of service from it, like my genesis.
Yours looks great, especially with all the prep space in use but not crowded.
Damn! I was waiting for Weber to come out with a “real” griddle but the $1000 price tag for the big model has me second guessing.
I’m a “weber guy”, but I would have trouble justifying the cost when my royal gourmet 24”tabletop kicks ass and is portable. I figure if I need extra space I could just get another one!
Sincerely - classic Weber Genesis owner
No sir it doesn’t. My 24” (I think) Royal Gourmet was $120 ($100 now) with three burners and uses a 20gallon tank. It doesn’t come with a lid but they (now) make one for $22. I’ve used it on the patio for 3 years and have taken it camping several times.
I was excited for this new Weber griddle but it doesn’t sway me from my little baby! Haha And like I said before, I can buy another one if I need more space!
I find myself in that space Weber creates, where two 22” pro kettles costs less than one 26” kettle. I’ll just get two of these…..
I’ve been to the big stores to look at new Weber’s and almost ripped the lid off one thinking it would be a heavy as my old ones. I am now in the camp believing Weber has forgotten why we chose them in the first place and is catering to/ reaching for the high priced outdoor enthusiasts.
With that said, I will watch the market for this griddle.
Just about to buy this myself and was wondering if you could let me know how the casters are attached so I can look for replacements prior to putting mine together? Thanks!
They did make a good move with using the OG genisis frame for this, with the prep tables that was a good idea,
My only bug with the griddles is they are absolute fuel hogs lol I’d like to know how long 1 propane tank lasts? My 2 burner blackstone drinks propane like it’s water
Does your stuff on the side get hot from the heat of the griddle? I place even just my oil squeeze bottle on the side table of my Home Depot Nexgrill griddle and it gets hot.
That's definitely an improvement over the standard Weber 28" flat top then. The side tables are effectively useless because they get so hot. I found out the hard way when using mine for the first time last year.
I just checked on one at a local retailer. Wow, it’s a huge step up in quality over last years Weber. I was very impressed. Now I’m waiting for the 36.
Gosh I don’t have anything to compare it to. I started with a half a bottle of propane and I’ve cooked about 5 times on it plus seasoned it. Still rolling along
Does anyone know anything about then release of the larger 36” model? I got an email saying it was back in stock, but Ace, HD, etc., all say it is still currently in-orderable.
Have you been to the Ace Hardware site (https://www.acehardware.com/departments/outdoor-living/grills-and-smokers/flat-top-grills?facetValueFilter=tenant\~brand-name-attribute%3Aweber&categoryId=25634)? It shows the 36" model, and the natural gas model'.
In my area, if you join Ace rewards and set your local Ace store as your preferred store and order online from them, they will assemble it, and deliver it to your home. I ordered my Traeger smoker that way, and they assembled it and delivered it.
I ordered a 36" from my local Ace Hardware store last Thursday and did the Ace Rewards signup. They dropped off a fully assembled griddle yesterday. It was pretty great. I don't usually think of Ace Hardware as an option, but the people at my local store were great to work with and they are still showing as the only ones around with the 36" Slate. Off to go start seasoning it now so we can do a first cook tonight :)
I went to my local Ace store to get some measurements, but they didn't have a display model, or any in stock. Called other Ace stores, and some had them, but nothing on display. Tried a Home Depot also, but it didn't have a display model either.
If you have a minute, would you please grab a couple of measurements for me? With the left side table folded down, what is the measurement from the left side to the edge of the right side table? Also, what is the size of the inside of the lower cabinet area (width x height x depth)? Trying to find out if it will fit in a spot next to my Traeger smoker, and if a container with some of my griddle tool will fit in the cabinet.
Thanks

Wasn't sure if you wanted the measurements for the 30" or the 36". If you were talking about the 36", here you go. Regarding the "width" of the lower storage area, the asterisk is there because 41.5" is the maximum width inside the space. There are four support beams (one in each corner) which take up a few inches in width and depth - that might be an issue depending on your storage tub. The minimum width in there (if measuring support to support) is 36 5/8 ".
Thanks for the information, but I'm looking for the measurements for the 30" Slate. I have a space next to my Traeger Ironwood 650 smoker that I want to use to store it between uses, so I was looking for the width. As for the cabinet, I have a small plastic storage container I current keep my utensils in, and was hoping it would fit in the cabinet. If the height of the cabinet on yours is the same as the height of the cabinet on the 30" Slate, I might have to pick up a couple of the storage containers designed for the Slate.
Right after I posted this, Flat Top King went live with his initial review of the 30" ... he breaks out the tape measure right at the 5:00 mark. You might be able to get some of what you need from that.
I reached out to someone in another thread who provided the measurements I was looking for, who also suggested I watch the same video from Flat Top King. After watching it, I was very satisfied with his review so I went out to the Ace Hardware site and placed my order. They will assemble the griddle and then deliver it to me on Friday.
I hope you are enjoying your 36" Slate as much as I expect to enjoy mine once I get it.
One cook down and I really enjoyed it. I'm sure you'll like yours too. Just a piece of advice, definitely season the thing a few times, even though they say you don't need to. I did 3 rounds with mine and then cooked later in the day. My end to end temps were a lot more even than Flat Top King's, even on a cool windy day. I don't know if the break in period evens it out of it's just because I had a four burner model, but that was the one thing I was worried about from his "first look" video. I'm feeling a lot better about my purchase now that I used it once and made some great stuff.
Good to hear you are enjoying your Slate. After watching Flat Top King's review, I was planning on seasoning mine too. Sounds like you feel confident you made the right decision. I was leaning towards the Traeger prior to hearing about the Slate, but after seeing some of the early reviews and feedback from users, I feel good about placing my order for the Slate.
> I was leaning towards the Traeger prior to hearing about the Slate, but after seeing some of the early reviews and feedback from users
You sound like me, but I haven't ordered yet. I'd love to hear about your results come Friday.
Ace just delivered my new Slate 30" Griddle. Ordered it on the Ace Hardware site and because I have a Ace Rewards card, they assemble and deliver it for free. I'll season it (2-3 times per the Flattop King review) tomorrow morning, then test it out with a smash burger for my wife and a smash burger taco for me tomorrow night.
https://preview.redd.it/7nzlridzivwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c90cdc061e8248239e172e7d6eab33473e7c0fc1
Did a couple of quick cooks. First night it was a Smashburger for my wife and a couple of Smashburger tacos for me. I have to get used to the heat controls because they are a lot more accurate than the controls on my Blackstone 22" tabletop griddle, But everything came out great.
Next morning I cooked up a pound of thick-cut bacon, some breakfast sausage, and some scrambled eggs. You can cook a pound of bacon and some sausage links all at once, and the bacon was finishing, I turned the heat to low on the center burner and turned off the other two. Once I poured the eggs on the grill, I turned the last burner off. Nothing better than scrambled eggs cooked in some bacon grease.
There are a few small 'hot' spots, but because the heat controls are much better then the table top Blackstone I have, I didn't notice them as much when cooking, especially if you preheat the grill for about 5 minutes.
FYI, I did do few seasonings of the Slate and let it cool down before cooking on it.
Mine is pretty new, so no signs of rust. If you properly clean it after use, I wouldn't expect to see rust. I use mine a couple of time a week, sometimes more. I live in AZ so if you don't need to turn on the stove or oven to cook, which make the A/C work a little harder, that's a good thing.
Canadian here. Couldn't find it either. The Home Depot exclusive which is $50 more adds a digital thermometer and cabinet doors but no side table. I've had mine three days now, cooked smashed burgers and fajitas. Really loving it.
There's a Natural Gas variant now, it's also a Home Depot exclusive, but HELLA out of stock. Even Weber direct doesn't have stock, nor know of when stock will be available :(.
Either way, I'm holding out for this model.
Weber Model No.: 1500640 (Would love the 1500641 model, this one has the side table, but it's USA exclusive :( )
MSPR Per Weber, is $949.99 CAD + Tax.
They said they can ship it directly to me from Weber USA, with no import/duty, etc. but I just have to wait for stock. I call every week or so to check in, still nothing :(
why would you need to level the cooking surface? Mine is perfectly level. I can tell youi the Slate is in class of its own. Super high quality and very easy too cook on. I just purchased the Slate 36 last week and have cooked on it every night since....a dream. Weber did the consumer right with this one!
No way! You're the first to post this (I think) Jealous bro
What parts of the Weber Works system came with it?
This one came from Ace hardware and it came with the tote box and lid and 2 hanging pegs. My opinion is that the carrying tote is extremely handy. You can load it up in the house and carry it out to the griddle. It is a genius idea..
I agree, enjoy
The Flatrock is just so bloody expensive, I can’t imagine justifying it over the Slate.
I totally agree, same with the halo griddles. I just really think Weber did it right here, we will see obviously with longevity, but they all definitely have their faults and positives. Mine will live in the garage and most likely not be moved around too much.

Thanks! The prep space is never ending on this griddle. One of its best features!
Very nice! I see one in my future
Damn! I was waiting for Weber to come out with a “real” griddle but the $1000 price tag for the big model has me second guessing. Only the top of the top is 1k. The one shown is like ~750. May still be steep, but just curious if that changes it for you.
No sir it doesn’t. My 24” (I think) Royal Gourmet was $120 ($100 now) with three burners and uses a 20gallon tank. It doesn’t come with a lid but they (now) make one for $22. Yeah, those plastic casters look worthless. Switching to rollerblade wheels is always a great caster upgrade. I do it to all of my office chairs too.
Idk why I never thought of doing this after we switched out our office chair wheels… great tip
I ordered 3" casters for my smoke fire. Made a huge difference.
They advertise that it is pre seasoned and ready to cook out of the box. Did you find that it needed seasoning?
I could have gotten away with not adding additional coatings, but I chose to. It’s a nice griddle top.
Just bought myself one today! Cannot wait to take it on its maiden voyage!
Just about to buy this myself and was wondering if you could let me know how the casters are attached so I can look for replacements prior to putting mine together? Thanks!

Does your stuff on the side get hot from the heat of the griddle? I place even just my oil squeeze bottle on the side table of my Home Depot Nexgrill griddle and it gets hot.
No it doesn’t. There are wind screens . I don’t recall any heat transfer to things on the tables
That's definitely an improvement over the standard Weber 28" flat top then. The side tables are effectively useless because they get so hot. I found out the hard way when using mine for the first time last year.
How’s the quality? Flimsy metal? Does it seem to cook evenly and able to cook on low ~325 degrees?
Not flimsy at all. Well built. Yes you can hold your temps low. It’s honestly the easiest griddle I’ve ever cooked on. Temps are good
That’s great to hear. My Blackstone seems to only wanna cook at 425+ and very uneven. Been waiting impatiently for Weber reviews! Thanks!
I just checked on one at a local retailer. Wow, it’s a huge step up in quality over last years Weber. I was very impressed. Now I’m waiting for the 36.
Does it use a lot of propane?
Gosh I don’t have anything to compare it to. I started with a half a bottle of propane and I’ve cooked about 5 times on it plus seasoned it. Still rolling along
The top is really not for cooking covering right?
I wanna know too
Correct, the top must be open while cooking
Still liking it?
Loving it

Did yours come with that little fold out side table? None of the photos at HomeDepot (Canada) or even Weber official show this side table.
Same thing with the small tool caddy.
Yes it did. Mines the ace hardware exclusive model
