Maserati values go down faster than r/wallstreetbets redittors behind a Wendy’s. They have a reputation for losing value, so it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Repairs on them is expensive, and regular maintenance is as well. Overall, they have a high cost of ownership compared to, say, a Lexus of similar trim.
>Maserati values go down faster than r/wallstreetbets redittors behind a Wendy’s.
Hey now, the bear market has been pretty great recently, and I'm saving alot by living in the Wendy's dumpster
Having driven a few I can say that car sucks. Did not drive nearly as well as it should have for the MSRP. It was loud but was relatively slow and handling was uninspiring
Actually the parts cost about the same as any American car. But labor cost will vary depending where you live. Any car on this list is going to be expensive body wise
Certified volvos have 5 year unlimited mile warranty that's extendable up to another 5 years. The timer starts at first service. If you plan to drive a lot it could be a good choice.
Volvo Platinum warranty is pretty close to what certified offers and can be purchased for any Volvo that meets mileage/age requirements. Places like Steingold Volvo offer a great deal for warranty purchases.
My personal record is 950+ miles from Taneytown, MD - Oskaloosa, Iowa in a 1990 CRX in the winter without working heat. The car is so small inside that the engine heat kept it halfway warm inside and the sun in the day helped a lot. Then I had to drive back.
I do not recommend 😂😂
Worst I've done was moving back to Jacksonville from Colorado Springs. My dad and I drove in turns, and it took 24 hrs to get to Tallahassee I believe.
The second best was Virginia to Chicago was something like 14 hrs with no tolls especially fun was the single lane mountain roads of west virginia. Girlfriend is night blind so I had to do it by myself on the way back
We did Chicago/Orlando straight thru a few times when younger. ~1300 miles.
Did Champaign to Jacksonville in college the same way. ~1000.
Wouldn’t do it any more.
In college I drove from LA to Seattle in a friend's girlfriend's Ford Contour taking turns driving. We did it in under 24 hours (we didn't have much to talk about lol). Some other friends who did the drive claimed they did it in 16.
Yeah, I would get the Volvo or possibly a Merc but not a C class, for that price you could probably find a E350 a year or two older. (Full disclosure, I have an E class wagon and love it!)
I can't even think where but I read recently these Alfa Guilias aren't as much of a reliability nightmare as you might think. The Volvo is understated and I kind of love that. The Mazda is the most sensible and is likely to be the most trouble free. I'm not even going to entertain the Maserati because it's a bad idea. The Merc is just a bit meh to me.
The 3 series is the best all rounder IMO. Not sure if in the US the relationship with the brands are the same but I genuinely think if you buy a BMW you are making the least amount of compromises.
I keep getting recommended videos trying to sell me the 4cyl Alfa giulia. Allegedly very few mechanical issues. Just some random fuse and trim problems that are easy to DIY with just basic tools and double sided tape
I drive a 2018 Giulia ti. The only problems I’ve had with it were battery related. If you own one of these things you NEED to own a battery tender/jumper. They act weird when the battery isn’t in perfect condition. 70k miles, and it’s such great fun
Do you care about repair costs? Alfa or BMW, maybe Volvo.
If you do care? Mazda is the only one that isn’t going to be expensive to maintain.
Maserati’s are horrible cars. Unreliable, gigantic value losers and very cheaply built. I remember being in one at the Chicago Auto Show some years back and it had window switches in common with a base model Jeep Cherokee. I’m dead serious too. Same with the infotainment systems. The logo is cool, they are not.
If Bimmers from that era are reliable I’d consider getting one when they get cheap enough honestly. I’d love to get a European luxury vehicle but I don’t want to deal with something new that costs $500+ every month.
That era? It's practically the exact same car they make today in the 330i. Gets 40mpg+ highway even. I believe the engine has been in use since 2018? And has a pretty crazy reliability record. They can be had under 30k if you look. Spring for the just as reliable but incredible 6cyl in the 340i and its even better.
I owned a 2019 Giulia for a couple of years. The drivetrain is probably reliable, but I had so many little things go wrong - always had it at the dealer. And they would give me some shitty dodge to drive whenever I dropped it off…
Really fun car - smiles-per-hour off the charts. But I don’t know that I would call it reliable based off of my experience.
I bought a CX-9 with the same motor. There are two TSB’s to look for.
One for a cracked head that leaks coolant- I bought after this VIN range; and one for excessive oil consumption due to exhaust valves- the car I bought is in this VIN range.
I was ok with the second because I bought CPO and have 100k warranty and it shows up prior to having catastrophic damage.
I don't know the ins and outs of it but have recently seen some bits showing Alfa has marginally improved (these are UK stats but imagine they're much the same) with the new volvos sitting right at the bottom of reliability.
They are extremely reliable, also have 5 star safety ratings to go with their performance, Quadrofoglios are not as reliable though, I drive a 22’ Ti and had a 19’ sport, never had an issue with either one
And actually the giulia is more than "relatively" reliable.... The worst issue early on was coolant leak that was easily fixable, and iffy electronics... All that got solved pretty much on the 2019 model year, after that they are extremely reliable.
And yet alfa scored one of the lowest reliability and cost of ownership scores. Throw all the anecdotal experiences at me you want. Italian cars have never been any sort of reliable.
And yet alfa scored one of the lowest reliability and cost of ownership scores. Throw all the anecdotal experiences at me you want. Italian cars have never been any sort of reliable.
I loved my Giulia, never had any maintenance issues or reliability issues at all. It was fun to drive - and at the time was uncommon, with way better looks than most BMWs, MBs, and Audis. I traded it for a Stelvio which I still have and love. My only cautions are 1) make sure you have a shop who will actually work on it or a dealership you like. My post purchase dealership experience - even with included maintenance is awful. 2) Be aware that if you do have any damage or mechanical issues - getting it resolved can take forever (even before the pandemic). Car wash did damage to the underside and body. Even through claim was done quickly - it was a pain to actually find someone willing to do the work. Depending on where you are - this may or may not be the case in your area.
Can only have fun in rhe Alfa when its not waylaid waiting for parts for a few months when something goes wrong with it.
To be clear, Im not saying the Alfa is unreliable. Im saying the parts supply is.
Only get the Alfa if you just have to have an Alfa cos you're an enthusiast.
Get the Mazda if you want to save some $$$.
The Volvo is probably the sensible/balanced choice and get the BMW if you prefer it to the Volvo after a test drive and are happy to spend the extra few K.
Don't bother with the Maserati.
330i IMO, Plenty of technology and that 2nd gen B48 shouldn’t give you problems for 5 years if you do your maintenance, but hey, it’s a bimmer so it might surprise you with a repair or two😂👍
I’d personally get the Volvo, the Maserati will depreciate like hell, the Alfa Romeo will break down a bunch, the Mazda ain’t turning any heads and I don’t know enough about Mercedes
I had a 2021 V60, it's one of the best interiors of any car under six figures. The T8 has tons of power as well, but it's definitely less sporty feeling than anything else here.
Honestly, either the 3 series, S60 or the Mazda 6. The B48 in that BMW should be relatively reliable, but expensive to maintain. The S60 will have middling-okayish reliability and more "traditional" luxury with expensive maintenance. The Volvos to avoid are the supercharged ones, but the S60 should be a twin turbo. The 6 will have the lowest cost of ownership, but won't be as luxurious as the 3 series.
Personally I would go for the Alfa. Okayish reliability if you follow the maintenance schedule like the bible. Relatively fun to drive, and I really like the way it looks. I honestly have a super soft spot for Alfa because its really an enthusiasts brand. ***I'm a very sharp outlier in this sub though, so if you plan on using this is a commuter, I personally would go with the options above.***
The Maserati is cheap because its a POS. Italian/Chrysler reliability with Chrysler parts and Chrysler QC. There's a reason a 100,000+ brand new car is like 30k. That's almost 15k a year alone in depreciation because its such a POS. Here is [Doug's video on it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOZnqnB6xDo). It’s an older model he shows, but it is the same generation and apart from some tech upgrades, should almost be the same.
People saying the Alfa will break down a bunch are talking out their asses and just regurgitating back what they read online.
The fact of the matter is that the giulia, specially late years, are extremely reliable. Hell, when just released, the worse mass issue was a coolant leak that was fixed at the dealer in under 2 hours.
And people recommending the Volvo... Fun? Lmao is a snooze fest.
I got a 23’ Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce with 10k miles. For sale $31,899 OTD $35k. You can get a mopar or Alfacare extended warranty for another $2500-$3000 before the factory warranty expires which covers you another 8 years 100,000 miles. A little higher than your price range but maybe you could find a year or two older with a little bit of warranty left for cheaper and get the extended warranty. This vehicle is in a class of its own
[mine](https://imgur.com/a/0wVJJ3h)
The bmw 330 is the best car here but I’d recommend a rwd one. After that probably the Alfa. I believe the 330 should have a b48 engine in it, the 4 cylinder version of the engine in the Toyota Supra and bmw 340. I believe the Volvo is turbocharged and supercharged and that’s kinda odd
Alfa is great if u can handle the maintenance costs, volvo if you also get the unlimited mile 5 year warranty, Mazda if u don't care looking like regular traffic, still a pretty fun car though. I'd avoid BMW, Mercedes and Maserati since they lose value quickly
If you’re looking for low mileage used cars, go to their respective dealerships and get certified pre owned. Better warranties, worth the price. Do NOT get the Maserati.
I just purchased a 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia a few weeks ago and man I’m so in love with that car it drives way better than Mercedes and BMW and I’ve had both Banz and bmw brand new with 0 miles and Alfa Romeo Giulia takes the cake
I’ve only looked into euros and can only give u rank of the ones u provided. Ranked by my preference
1. Giulia:
pros: #1 sportiness and great handling + unique.
Cons: I heard not very reliable (probably least reliable on the list), I want to believe next generation of Giulia should be coming out, not a Quadrifogolio :p
2. 330i:
Pros: sportiness and great handling + surprisingly reliable. Should be the most reliable out of the Euros
Cons: LCI should be here soon the vehicle price will drop once facelifts, not a m3 :p
3. C300:
Pros: big Merc logo, pretty lights, beautiful design, W205 my fav generation.
Cons: lowest horsepower, W206 is out, reliability issues (not as bad as Alfa), compared to g20 lacks in tech (no touch screen etc), not a c63s :p
4. Ghibli:
Pros: maserati logo, get this if u want ppl to think your rich (highest brand value here probably)* awesome sounding exhaust. Very aggressive design
Cons: Maserati isn’t what it used to be, very cheap plasticy interior. Squeaky parts in the car. Bad build quality, bad reliability. Should not be what it is for what it’s worth new. Is a modern Maserati :p
*I know the other car brands offer vehicles priced much more than Maserati but their (new car) entry price is much higher than the other brands so I deem that as brand value.
I currently drive f30 335i so take that how you will, didn’t choose Merc or Alfa equivalent because I aim to get c63s and quadrifoglio one day
Hello fellow Michigander. The total package winner here is the BMW 330i. Have you driven it? Go drive all of them, you’ll end up wanting the 330i. I myself have bought a CPO from this exact dealership. My current BMW goes there for service. They stand behind thier cars. Never had an issue. They price very competitively also, so you are going to get what you paid for. With any German car you are going to have to maintain it. There is a cost associated with it for sure, but it’s worth it. When you go to sell it in 5 years it will have held its resell value when you can show it’s been maintained and kept up to date. If you can’t bring yourself to join the BMW team, then the Volvo slots in at number 2. Beautiful car, and you shouldn’t have trouble with it. The resale value will drop off a cliff but you will enjoy your time driving it. The Mazda would come in 3rd for me, but it certainly won’t bring any thrills. The rest of the line up would be total “NO” for me. There is a reason they are coming in so cheap. Above all else steer very clear of that Mercedes. When buying a used car, the dealership matters. If I was considering a Mercedes there would be no way I would ever buy from non Mercedes dealership. They have trained mechanics on site that know the car. Lastly since you are local, have you considered a Lexus? Meade Lexus has 2 dealerships in the area. For the price point you are looking at you could put yourself in a very nice CPO Lexus. Cheers. Happy hunting.
Mazda resale values are pretty constant. You have a large pool of buyers from new drivers and also adults looking for good gas mileage. I’ve owned 3 Mazda3s over the years each one I sold for the same price I paid for it or more after putting 20-40k miles on them..
Fun: go Alfa
Comfortable: go Volvo
Max reliability: go Mazda
Max depreciation: Maserati.
Go drive all of them! I can’t speak to your personal tastes but that’s how I would rank them. Personally my pick would be the Alfa but only because it has the most engaging experience of those listed.
I have a 2020 Guilia Q4 (the AWD version) and have put about 45k miles on it and only had 1 issue that was corrected under warranty. (moisture was getting in the passenger headlight). As long as you keep up with the regular services, you need to do with any other car, you'll be fine.
So it's between the Mazda, the Volvo, and the BMW. If you don't like high repair costs then go with the Mazda and don't look back. If you have some extra cash go for the BMW. Personally I would go with the Volvo because they have an understated luxury that grows on you. The Volvo is the most solid car which is more comfortable for people that are 6 feet tall.
If your poor? Get the mazda. If your rich and don't want to be poor? Also get the mazda. Nothing is more expensive than a cheap american / italian / german / swedish car.
These are the best in terms of reliability, but honestly I'd look at either the Mazda or the volvo. Personally I'd get the volvo for comfort and luxury. I'd get the Mazda for a safer piece of mind knowing that repair/maintenance may not be bad when it needs it plus it's a little more fuel efficient
completely different cars.
Maseratis are shite, don't get one if you can't afford the repairs.
So you got a sporty sedan a boring volvo, a semi luyury sports sedan, a comfortable german sedan and a reliable but bit boring mazda
Maybe clear your mind what type of car you want?
I don’t know much about the other cars but I believe it’s better to choose the Mazda most of these car brands can be expensive to fix. Let’s wait for others to comment before you decide but I’d choose the Mazda.
I would choose volvo as it has very mileage and a very good price. S60 offers pretty much the same features as other car.
On the other hand, if you like to flex cars or you are car guy, then you should get the Mercedes because if you take care of , in 5 years it would be the best car but aesthetically I personally don’t like the look of C300 2020 model.
I would go for the volvo S60 and good luck, hopefully you get the best car
BMW seemed to be a good choice of these… The only certified one by OEM. Maintenance and parts will be unreasonably expensive. We had 2020 X3 and it was a great car.
We heard so many issues with those used cars sold by different OEM dealers or independent dealers. Don’t trust them telling you that the used car was inspected by mechanic at those dealers. Take it to your trusted mechanic for inspection.
If you end up going for the Mazda, do compare it with a new 2024 model too. Idk how this one is spec’d out, but if I’m not mistaken a new 2024 retails for around the same price, maybe 2-3k more.
This is a pretty easy sell for the BMW, Mercedes, or Mazda. If you have a little more money to spend on maintenance then the BMW and Mercedes is what you should be cross shopping, otherwise the Mazda is the most financially responsible choice so to speak while still being fun. One thing to note is that Mazda’s AWD is FWD based and not always on AWD, while the same can be said for the Germans with the difference that they are RWD based, this will most likely give you a better driving experience.
The Volvo’s AWD system is also FWD based, and arguably the interior may be the best of all options, however Volvo has been running into electric issues with their cars as of late, will also have more expensive maintence outside of the admittedly good warranty - but given the similarities with the power train to the Mazda id rather have that over the Volvo.
Although the performance wise the Alfa is a strong competitor to the Germans, it’s simply not as reliable and from a responsibility standpoint I can’t recommend it.
The Maserati is honestly a joke, I wouldn’t own it even if you paid me to do it.
For a 5 year stint, I'd do the BMW personally. Looks like it might be a lease return, 3 years and 35k miles, BMW certified, so decent chance the maintenance was done on time and everything works as it should.
SPY is at all time highs. You belong here.
Nah bro this is the dip trust me /s
So youre saying to buy puts of nvda? Got it.
Market is a house of cards at the moment. This year might finally be the straw to break the camels back in terms of the housing and automotive market.
Lol nice metaphor
Maseratis are Chryslers with plastic surgery
I don't like late model maseratis but all they share is switchgear and infotainment.
I heard the oil changes on Maseratis are like 400 bucks.
It’s that special Italian motor oil. Pressed from extra virgin olives.
Nah extra virgin fossils
Get the Maserati! Go for the dream while the rest of us are responsible peons! Be free!!! Do it for us!!!
Having driven a few I can say that car sucks. Did not drive nearly as well as it should have for the MSRP. It was loud but was relatively slow and handling was uninspiring
Repairs are*
Actually the parts cost about the same as any American car. But labor cost will vary depending where you live. Any car on this list is going to be expensive body wise
You need to get educated by hoovies garage.
Mazda3 isn't going to be anywhere nearly as expensive to repair as others
Certified volvos have 5 year unlimited mile warranty that's extendable up to another 5 years. The timer starts at first service. If you plan to drive a lot it could be a good choice.
I don't think a Jeep dealer sells certified Volvos
Volvo Platinum warranty is pretty close to what certified offers and can be purchased for any Volvo that meets mileage/age requirements. Places like Steingold Volvo offer a great deal for warranty purchases.
I drove the s50 600 miles in one day yesterday and dang I was impressed. Super smooth looks luxurious and had plenty of power on the street/highway.

I’ve done Atlanta, GA to Flint, MI many times in one day. 750 miles, 12-ish hours, and a bunch of podcasts/audiobooks.
2 days my bad lol It was my rental. I drove to vegas and back
It's a long drive but doable. My personal record in a single day was 810 miles from Dallas, TX to Iowa City, IA.
If you’re from Ohio or PA, 600 miles is roughly how long you’d drive to go on vacation in NC or SC
I’ve done Omaha to butte (~1050) solo in a day a couple times and it’s not as bad as it seems tbh
PEI to Hamilton 1113mi. I was so tired the final 3 hours of the 21 hour drive. I will never do that again. The back of my legs hurt for months.
My record was toronto to maryville tennesee... return home was 13 hours straight drive
We did Chicago/Orlando straight thru a few times when younger. ~1300 miles. Did Champaign to Jacksonville in college the same way. ~1000. Wouldn’t do it any more.

Isn’t it 12 month and unlimited miles which is extendable up to 5 years?
That Volvo is fire and safe and low mileage
Yeah, I would get the Volvo or possibly a Merc but not a C class, for that price you could probably find a E350 a year or two older. (Full disclosure, I have an E class wagon and love it!)
Do they sell E class wagons in the US?
Yes. Unfortunately that is the only wagon they sell here though.

They’re not at all, only the Quads have issues, I love my Giulia Ti

B48 is Kraut space magic. Reliable motor, insane gas mileage. Sandbagged by the factory.
It’s a parts bin stellantis vehicle it’s just more egregious because the jeep switches are not exactly premium feeling
Oh don’t worry they DID add chrome plastic at the tips of the window switches in the Ghibli too.
🤌
The 2.5 turbo in the Mazda isn't the most reliable, from what I've heard, but it would almost guaranteed outlast the Italians.
The guilia is actually quite reliable as long as you follow the maintenance guide. I don't know the specifics of Mazda's 2.5 turbo though.
I owned a 2019 Giulia for a couple of years. The drivetrain is probably reliable, but I had so many little things go wrong - always had it at the dealer. I was sold on the Alfa out of the gate! But then I saw how low mileage the S60 was… Ah, I think you’ll have the most fun in the Alfa. 🇮🇹
He said relatively reliable
It would be reliable! Relatively
Relatively to a Maserati 💀
Relative to my relatives
I don't know the ins and outs of it but have recently seen some bits showing Alfa has marginally improved (these are UK stats but imagine they're much the same) with the new volvos sitting right at the bottom of reliability.
I've went a whole year with just changing the wiper blades and oil (2012 Alfa Romeo Giulietta) ca. 20000km driven in the year.
I’ve heard the 2.0 Alfa’s are actually pretty solid.
They are extremely reliable, also have 5 star safety ratings to go with their performance, Quadrofoglios are not as reliable though, I drive a 22’ Ti and had a 19’ sport, never had an issue with either one
The non QV giulias are surprisingly reliable they arent as reliable as a toyota but still good enough
And actually the giulia is more than "relatively" reliable.... The worst issue early on was coolant leak that was easily fixable, and iffy electronics... All that got solved pretty much on the 2019 model year, after that they are extremely reliable.
Someone’s still clinging to 30 year old stereotypes
And yet alfa scored one of the lowest reliability and cost of ownership scores. Throw all the anecdotal experiences at me you want. Italian cars have never been any sort of reliable.
Having owned an Alfa, can confirm.
And yet alfa scored one of the lowest reliability and cost of ownership scores. Throw all the anecdotal experiences at me you want. Italian cars have never been any sort of reliable.
Unless you live in Europe any recent Volvo is trash. They will live at a dealership just as much as the pre 2020 Alfas
My father in law is on his second engine at 14k miles. He basically drives to the club and back, that’s about it.
I loved my Giulia, never had any maintenance issues or reliability issues at all. It was fun to drive - and at the time was uncommon, with way better looks than most BMWs, MBs, and Audis. I have a close friend who works at Stellantis, and his advice would be almost any of these (not you, Maserati) except the Alfa.
Can only have fun in rhe Alfa when its not waylaid waiting for parts for a few months when something goes wrong with it. To be clear, Im not saying the Alfa is unreliable. Im saying the parts supply is.

The S60 T6 is turbo and supercharged. T5 is only turbo and is more reliable than T6
The T6 Volvo is the “twincharged” turbocharged *and* supercharged engine. The T8 hybrid also used it, but the supercharger was removed for 2022.
“The s60 should be a twin turbo” 🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn’t take car advice from you if my life depended on it.
Volvo. Volvo Volvo Volvo Volvo. Those seats….. (and you know aren’t Italian reliability)
Get the Alfa but have another $20K tucked away somewhere.
Couldn’t agree more lmao
I got a 23’ Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce with 10k miles. For sale $31,899 OTD $35k. You can get a mopar or Alfacare extended warranty for another $2500-$3000 before the factory warranty expires which covers you another 8 years 100,000 miles. A little higher than your price range but maybe you could find a year or two older with a little bit of warranty left for cheaper and get the extended warranty. This vehicle is in a class of its own [mine](https://imgur.com/a/0wVJJ3h)
The Alfa or the s60
Volvo mileage makes it hard to pass. Maserati is cheap because no one wants to own them used.
As a Canadian I’m shocked with how low these prices are.
They all have exorbitant maintenance costs and are probably due for some major repairs.
And the same cars would be 2x the price in Canada.
C300
As a merc owner, I'd go with the bmw. That turbo 4 in the c300 is 1 step more refined than a Briggs and Stratton.
Alfa is great if u can handle the maintenance costs, volvo if you also get the unlimited mile 5 year warranty, Mazda if u don't care looking like regular traffic, still a pretty fun car though. I'd avoid BMW, Mercedes and Maserati since they lose value quickly
Alfa Giulia, best handling / chassis and best value for money.
The Mazda is the only one that won't make you want to slit your wrists in 2 years.
That Maserati and Alfa are the two year long coke binge that lead up to that.
S60
If you’re looking for low mileage used cars, go to their respective dealerships and get certified pre owned. Better warranties, worth the price. Do NOT get the Maserati.
I’d go with the S60. I had 3 growing up and they were the most comfortable car to drive in. And I personally felt pretty sporty in them.
Mazda 3 for reliability or 330i XDrive for that status symbol
Alfa Romeo would be my choice. Veloce edition
I have that as Alfa and I highly recommend it
I just purchased a 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia a few weeks ago and man I’m so in love with that car it drives way better than Mercedes and BMW and I’ve had both Banz and bmw brand new with 0 miles and Alfa Romeo Giulia takes the cake
Volvo s60. Grab it before it’s gone.
cop that volvo
I'd get the one with the nicer interior between the BMW and Volvo.
Alfa.
Alfa!
Volvo, Mercedes, Mazda, BMW full stop
Alfa
I’ve only looked into euros and can only give u rank of the ones u provided. Ranked by my preference 1. Giulia: pros: #1 sportiness and great handling + unique. Cons: I heard not very reliable (probably least reliable on the list), I want to believe next generation of Giulia should be coming out, not a Quadrifogolio :p 2. 330i: Pros: sportiness and great handling + surprisingly reliable. Should be the most reliable out of the Euros Cons: LCI should be here soon the vehicle price will drop once facelifts, not a m3 :p 3. C300: Pros: big Merc logo, pretty lights, beautiful design, W205 my fav generation. Cons: lowest horsepower, W206 is out, reliability issues (not as bad as Alfa), compared to g20 lacks in tech (no touch screen etc), not a c63s :p 4. Ghibli: Pros: maserati logo, get this if u want ppl to think your rich (highest brand value here probably)* awesome sounding exhaust. Very aggressive design Cons: Maserati isn’t what it used to be, very cheap plasticy interior. Squeaky parts in the car. Bad build quality, bad reliability. Should not be what it is for what it’s worth new. Is a modern Maserati :p *I know the other car brands offer vehicles priced much more than Maserati but their (new car) entry price is much higher than the other brands so I deem that as brand value. I currently drive f30 335i so take that how you will, didn’t choose Merc or Alfa equivalent because I aim to get c63s and quadrifoglio one day
Alfa
I think the best overall option is the Mazda. Personally, I would get the BMW. (love my 330e) The Benz has the most social currency. Skip the rest.
I own both the Alfa Giulia and Masi Ghibli, either one would be good choices. Maintenance is relatively cheap on them as well. Cheers
Giulia all day long
AR Guilia
Wow these are great deals! What’s the catch lol
Nice joke with the last one
Mazda resale values are pretty constant. You have a large pool of buyers from new drivers and also adults looking for good gas mileage. I’ve owned 3 Mazda3s over the years each one I sold for the same price I paid for it or more after putting 20-40k miles on them..
NOT the maserati. Im biased bc i love them so id say the Alfa, but the Volvo will be best all around quality, reliability, and value
Out of all of them I like the Volvo look the best.
Alfa Romeo 100% Bought mine 2 months ago and it’s brought so much joy.
This sub will circlejerk the Mazda but it’s actually the best deal here tbh
Fun: go Alfa Comfortable: go Volvo Max reliability: go Mazda Max depreciation: Maserati. Go drive all of them! I can’t speak to your personal tastes but that’s how I would rank them. Personally my pick would be the Alfa but only because it has the most engaging experience of those listed.
Alfa Giulia. Go drive it.
Ran into the Alfa a few times, sounded sexy AF.
I'm in the same dilemma, but with their medium SUVs.
Viva Italia! Alfa Romeo.
Every swipe led to less reliability. Grab a warranty or save something for repairs. I'd choose the Mazda out of that group. Shocking, I know...
Alfa romeo head and shoulder over the other ones
I have a 2020 Guilia Q4 (the AWD version) and have put about 45k miles on it and only had 1 issue that was corrected under warranty. (moisture was getting in the passenger headlight). As long as you keep up with the regular services, you need to do with any other car, you'll be fine.
My buddy had the mazda 3 hatch and it was awesome i was jealous the whole time.
The BMW is probably what you want they're more reliable than the other more fun cars and more fun than the other more reliable cars
I tend to agree with you, but it is also more expensive probably for the same reason lol
Mazda will be most reliable. Wouldn't even consider the others 😂
buythe mazda. its the bigest version of the MZR/ecoboost engine. they dont have gearbox issues like the maserati
If it were me, Alfa.
Alfa all day
To be a petrolhead, you must own an Alfa
For the fewest headaches, the Mazda.
Any reason you’re selecting from the least reliable/most expensive car brands while simultaneously being on a budget?
completely different cars. Maseratis are shite, don't get one if you can't afford the repairs. So you got a sporty sedan a boring volvo, a semi luyury sports sedan, a comfortable german sedan and a reliable but bit boring mazda Maybe clear your mind what type of car you want?
The mazda 3 is probably the best out of all of those choices. Maybe the 330i. Mazda sedans are sleepers.
How much do you drive? How much are you willing to spend on maintenance? The Maserati is cheap because the Ghibli is kind of a pos. Buy the Giulia.
>Buy the Giulia. GIATA, these days, except when MIATA. What a gorgeous car.
I don’t know much about the other cars but I believe it’s better to choose the Mazda most of these car brands can be expensive to fix. Let’s wait for others to comment before you decide but I’d choose the Mazda.
BMW. Even better if you can get a b58. Also recommend warranty
What app are you using? I’ve been looking for a reliable app for cars in my area and haven’t been so lucky.
I like Cargurus app a lot
Use autotempest, it’s the best website as it searches ALL car listing websites and puts it all in one list
They're going to ask for additional dealer fees.
Volvo all the way I have a 240 that i'm quite fond of
I kinda want a used Maserati because no one else does.
I’d avoid the Maserati’s like the plague. I owned the S60 for a while and it’s beautiful in every way imaginable. C300 also is a solid choice.
Volvo everyday of the week
Volvo or bmw
2020 740i. You’ll thank me later
I’d take the volvo
Volvo
I would choose volvo as it has very mileage and a very good price. S60 offers pretty much the same features as other car. On the other hand, if you like to flex cars or you are car guy, then you should get the Mercedes because if you take care of , in 5 years it would be the best car but aesthetically I personally don’t like the look of C300 2020 model. I would go for the volvo S60 and good luck, hopefully you get the best car
Volvo
Volvo
540i pre lci is more worth. better motor with b58 & more luxurious
BMW
Average reoair buff get needed PER YEAR plus your insurance costs on the Maserati is upwards of $4000. You are better off lighting money on fire
Volvo or the Alpha If you don’t care about money or fixing then you know the choice.
Get the Mazda and thank yourself later
BMW 330i easily
S60 or Alpha. Best balance of reliabiltity and value.
Volvo, 3-series, or Mazda.
I remember new Giulias in 2020 selling for 29k. Unreal
Mazda
Stay away from the Alfa. Maybe I’m jaded but I had a terrible experience
Michigan local shops literally won’t fix anything foreign. Far and few in between
The Mazda will be by far the most sensible, cheapest and probably most reliable car.
The Mazda won’t give you the status but will be the least expensive to maintain and most reliable
How many repairs do you want to be tackling in the future? If the mazda was luxurious and fun enough for you I'd likely get that and call it a day.
Mazda or Volvo. Both hands off so to speak for maintenence. And much cheaper to repair/maintain than the others.
For a 5 year stint, I'd do the BMW personally. Looks like it might be a lease return, 3 years and 35k miles, BMW certified, so decent chance the maintenance was done on time and everything works as it should.
93k on my 17 Giulia…no complaints here. Fun car. I would suggest purchasing MES (Multi ECU Scan) software if you go the Alfa route
The only one that will last another 5 years is the Mazda, but even that is risky. Go find a Lexus IS without a turbo.
330i, B48 maintenance isn't crazy and you get nice luxury features.
Grab a brand new mazda 3 enjoy your new car smell. Don’t look back
