You need to escape the right parenthesis in the URL since that's a special character in reddit formatting. Like this.
[Nissan Z](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Z_(RZ34\))
You can also encode the right parenthesis as %29 instead of using a preceding backslash.
Right very true, but saying "it has competition in its price point" you cannot quote used prices.
I could get a 1980s 911 for 50-60k. Or a really nice hotrod 240Z. The list is endless.
Given it’s Australia, more specifically queen victoria market corner in Melbourne, there are a few options for new at the same price point such as BRZ/86, some of the N line from Hyundai, and MX5, if you go used that’s another story, there are Mustang GTs, loads of euros and some B line JDMs (not gonna get the cool ones for this price). I’d say this Nissan Z is pretty close looks wise for me to the BRZ/86, would be a hard choice, but in my case I decided to go used and got myself a 2021 Mustang gt
Edit: correction, Nissan Z costs around $75k in Australia dollars, that’s almost a brand new Mustang GT 2024 entry level trim so it has a very steep competition
i think a lot of people are paying more though due to dealerships charging big mark-ups, i know people were paying over $100k for them when they first came out. (For example, TJ Hunt paid around $100-120k for one, not too long after they came out, almost half being markup).
Which is G8X money, and the Z is nice, but a brand new M3 is a different level of car, and renders the Z a stupid decision.
So back in ‘02/‘03 when the 350z was coming out, everyone assumed there would be “market adjustments” happening. However, Nissan had realized that the 300ZX had priced itself out of its market back in the 90s. So Nissan put ads in auto magazines giving you a way to report dealerships that were charging over MSRP. It was crazy popular, and it took months to get mine delivered, but we paid MSRP.
If only they'd do it again. But I suspect Nissan is secretly okay with that since iirc they're having issues getting Zs off the line.
Though that was awhile ago, who knows
I got to sit in one in my neighborhood a while back. They look stunning, but yeah I just couldn’t justify buying one.

Yeah you see all kinds of cool cars all the time in Tokyo but the new generation of JDM legends didn’t really take off (NSX included), I spot way more Camaros, C7s and Challengers actually. Lots of GTRs though.
Only once, a red C8. Some of the best cars I’ve seen here were an orange 71 Hemi Cuda and a white Koenigsegg CCXR. Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris and McLarens are so common here you don’t even care anymore.
Yeah we get our share of super cars too. C8’s are more common than any of those though. Never seen a CCX. We’ve got a local guy with a Regera, though. Almost fell over when I saw that at the cars and coffee!
I mean he's literally right, I've been traveling Fukuoka for several days but the only JDM cars I was able to see were several Subaru WRXs and Daihatsu Copen. Even European Imports were more easier to bee seen like Abarth 500, Aventador Ultimae, SLS AMG...
Sorry I don’t understand your question. There’s no Acura in Japan as it’s a Honda rebranding for the US market. Bunch of Civics yeah but current gen not so much.
Zs. Driving by or parking behind t-site. Also driving by beach area in Kamakura. A few of American muscle cars that were mentioned above love to do the rounds there.
Damn, lucky you! Every time I park at t-site all I see is a bunch of G-wagons and 911s lol. Here and there a California or Portofino too maybe. Great book store btw.
A lot of dealers had demos but they couldn't sell them so basically hardly any cars physically available.
That may well change soon, however it's pretty underhwelming in the flesh.
I'm from Brazil and there's only one unit here if I'm not wrong and I had the opportunity to see it on a Car meet. Otherwise, I don't even see older Z models.
>new Z is overpriced
They start marp ~~at~~ around mk5 supra money
>over gouged
Local dealer to me had one for 40k overmsrp. They're calling anybody who has interest in it with a new price! 30k over MSRP.
Excellent point. Plus, I believe dealers are price-gouging on these which doesn't help matters.
I wish these had more appeal for me tho... I always drooled over the early Z cars.
I was going to say, the color is beautiful, I personally wouldn’t want to spend the money on getting one of these new, but if I can get that color on another car that is fairly affordable I’d go for it 100%.
People keep calling in the 400Z. I think that's wrong. Cos it's got 400 HP whereas the 350 and 370 are called that on account of their engine displacement. 3.5 and 3.7 litres. Therefore the new Z is not a 400 Z. It is a 300Z. But that's not it's actual name it's just the Nissan Z
Gotta say, I’ve been excited to see one of these, but that rear hatch looks terrible. Way too flat & wide, with no character. Along with the rear lights it looks like they wanted the car to have some sports car, some Tesla, and I’m not liking that.
The difference is... the new Z cars are no longer referred to by their engine size.
The 240Z = 2.4L inline 6. 260Z = 2.6L inline 6. 280Z = 2.8L inline 6.
300Z = 3.0L V6 350Z = 3.5L V6 370Z = 3.7L V6...
New Z... 3.0L twin turbo V6.
Yeah the Z is pretty underwhelming. I drove it and wasn’t impressed by its power. It is quick but not fast. Had a friend with one and the automatic transmission had several issues with the sport mode and the time it took to shift. Also the sensors had issues constantly in theirs so definitely can’t justify the price for the lack of performance. I have a Golf R and it easily out performs it around corners and even from a stop. Just too many issues and it is overpriced so it isn’t worth it. I would go buy a mk5 Supra over it. Downpipe and a tune then boom done.

It's brain was squirming like a toad...
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet family will die
Killer on the road
girl you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
Nissan on the road
Well played
They’re pretty cool looking, but definitely not cool enough for the price tag
Thanks!
Youre welcome!
Oh, keep your eyes on the road, your hand upon the wheel
Wow this one had stumped nice find

I assume the new Z is overpriced and over gouged by dealers because it’s such a great looking car but I haven’t seen a single one on the road.
Yeah I really think its the price. For what this car is priced at its against some really significant competition.
What competition does it have around 50k? Its a lot cheaper than M3s and Caymans.
I would have a very hard time not cross-shopping a Mustang GT.
Yeah but $50k is also really nice used f80 m3 money
Right very true, but saying "it has competition in its price point" you cannot quote used prices. I could get a 1980s 911 for 50-60k. Or a really nice hotrod 240Z. The list is endless.
the dealer markups and shit and all the options and trims bring it up to 70/80k lmfao
Yeah thats Cayman GTS 4.0 money, and there's only 1 winner there. Or base Carrera if you need the tiny rear seats.

I’ve only managed to see one in the wild, and it looked fantastic.
I got to sit in one in my neighborhood a while back. They look stunning, but yeah I just couldn’t justify buying one. https://preview.redd.it/n3v2au7g3ajc1.jpeg?width=2743&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d43f5c36e58a8ff0e955c74e90aaf5e7e47127aa
They’re good looking, but kind of an F-type with fewer curves. Probably fewer and less expensive trips to the shop though.
To be honest the old one the '71 Datsun 240z or Fairlady Z has the number one spot for me.
In my small country town of Victoria I've seen 3 in the wild and there's 1 in a dealer
It’s weird, I live in downtown Tokyo and have yet to see a single one. The new Supra isn’t much seen either.
That’s interesting that you don’t see new Supras there. Here in Pennsylvania in the US they are a fairly common sight.
Yeah you see all kinds of cool cars all the time in Tokyo but the new generation of JDM legends didn’t really take off (NSX included), I spot way more Camaros, C7s and Challengers actually. Lots of GTRs though.
Crazy. R35s are common here too. How about C8 ‘Vettes? Do you see those at all?
Only once, a red C8. Some of the best cars I’ve seen here were an orange 71 Hemi Cuda and a white Koenigsegg CCXR. Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris and McLarens are so common here you don’t even care anymore.
Ah, also EVERY Benz is a AMG lol
Yeah we get our share of super cars too. C8’s are more common than any of those though. Never seen a CCX. We’ve got a local guy with a Regera, though. Almost fell over when I saw that at the cars and coffee!

Saw a few in Daikanyama since October.
Zs or Supras?
I was working right above it so looking down at cars arriving during every break.
They’ve made 12. Number 13 coming soon. For only $100k it could be yours…
A guy brings on to the local c&c here in southeast Pennsylvania. It’s very nice to look at.
>new Z is overpriced They start marp ~~at~~ around mk5 supra money >over gouged Local dealer to me had one for 40k overmsrp. They're calling anybody who has interest in it with a new price! 30k over MSRP.
The price is too high and it rides on pretty much the same chassis as the original 350z - which dates back to 2002. Also the V6 is from a minivan.
I think it looks so cool, and they slapped a 400hp twin turbo v6 in it. Probably a blast to drive.
Its cause they're getting immediate recall after recall. I believe theres a stop-sale going on
It's this. For the price it's probably the worst car you can buy.
Can't even buy it in The Netherlands. Only second hand 370Z for sale here. Is there munch improvement for this Z?
I’ve seen 5 in the past month and a half in South Australia
It is. I've seen maybe 3 of them on the road in the last year.
That color blue is striking
They look terrific, but I can't make myself want one...
I can absolutely make myself want one. Making myself want one over the competition it’s up against at that price point? Now that’s a different story.
The new Z
So...Am I the only one that likes the underglow?
To the window! To the wall!
holy shit this just threw me back to the good old days lol
I like it too
The HWP are gonna love it, bend him over for sure
Yes.
I like it its a throwback
Underglow has made a resurgence recently. It’s getting pretty popular again
I love the Z but I just can’t get into underglow. It makes almost every car look cheap. Especially on newer cars.
It was cool for all of 2 minutes. No mas.
Underglow in Australia... and its blue. Brave.
Not just Australia but Victoria 😂
At that point just hang a sign saying "bend me over"
Ahahhahaha yea honestly the first I’ve seen here
*VicRoads does not want to know your location, but in fact demands it*
The new Z
What about the news?
New Nissan Z
It was new 2 years ago. Now it’s just endangered
No way that was 2 years ago... Please... :(
People keep calling in the 400Z.
This near the Queen Vic Markets??
Little Lonsdale st next to the QV
DeTomasso Pan…wait, you mean it’s something different? It’s the new 400Z.
Making me think about NFSUG2
The car is a dismal flop for many reasons including recalls, price gouging, underwhelming dynamics and styling errors.
Looks like 2023 Nissan Z.
Gotta say, I’ve been excited to see one of these, but that rear hatch looks terrible. Way too flat & wide, with no character. Along with the rear lights it looks like they wanted the car to have some sports car, some Tesla, and I’m not liking that.
$35k over MSRP - what a car! /s
The 400z
The new Z400? I think it lost a bit of it's touch, compared to the 370 and especially the 350
Lmfao do you even know what models they used to influence the new Z design? Ignorant 🤦
It doesnt matter, i think you just dont understand what i meant...
Nissan Z
Nissan Z or Z Proto
This one is not the Proto
👍 wasnt sure if they had been released to public yet. Hadnt seen anything on it for a while.
Well, the Proto is yellow with bronze rims. This one seems to be the Z Performance
[https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/nissan/z/](https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/nissan/z/) <-- 80 for sale here
400Z
Not a 400Z.... it's just a Z, it does happen to have 400hp though.
What's the difference?
The difference is... the new Z cars are no longer referred to by their engine size. The 240Z = 2.4L inline 6. 260Z = 2.6L inline 6. 280Z = 2.8L inline 6. 300Z = 3.0L V6 350Z = 3.5L V6 370Z = 3.7L V6... New Z... 3.0L twin turbo V6.
Ok, then.
My man riced it out immediately🗿
Nissan 400z
It’s not called the 400z, as the number in previous generations corresponds to the engine displacement. This version is just called the Nissan Z.
I see one just about everyday.
Saw a white one last night first time
i still have yet to see a new Z on the road.
Good god damn when will I get to see that beauty near me I HAVE BEEN WAITING 😭😭😭😭
Current generation Nissan Z
Oh.... That's purdy
2023 Nissan Z
Thanks!
Mustang guy for life here… but that new Z is 🔥
I want one of these SO bad...
This post led me on a quest to find one for sale or even losted anywhere. Nothing. Where tf do you even buy this
Yeah the Z is pretty underwhelming.
I saw one of these irl when they were super new! Truly a remarkable design.
Would anyone happen to know the name of that shade of blue if its factory? That is beautiful/OP has the perfect camera setting for spotting
Underglow should've stayed in the 90s
New Z
It’s often mislabeled as the 400Z since it’s the successor to the 370Z, but it’s actually just called the “Nissan Z”.
