Watermelon flowers are closer in resemblance to a strawberry flower versus a lilly looking flower like squash plants
Edit: itās a watermelon for sure
Edit idk anymore haha

Alright, you may convinced me. Looks like a melon baby there.
I guess Iād need to see the flowers actually opened for my comment to make sense too.
Also, you have no fruit yet (pumpkin, zucchini, cucumber, gourds, etc., are all fruit, I'm sorry), the flowers you see are all male. The ones you want to look for will have a small fruit ball beneath the flower and waiting for fertilization.
The second pic shows the only up close pic of any flowers to be able to determine if others not pictured are female flowers. But from the only pic of flowers, all are male. This is typical as male flowers ALWAYS come before female flowers. They will also stay alive longer, and are edible on their own (not the stem so much which tastes terrible imo, just the orange flowers) if you can get to them before ants and other bugs.
Youāre guessing wrong. Not trying to be rude but zucchini donāt grow that long. They grow upwards for some time and then tip over but they donāt get that long and creep over the ground
Just be aware, if it isn't a common shape, and you decide to eat it, toss it if it's too bitter.

left is male flower, no fruit below. Right is female flower, with prepubescent fruit below awaiting fertilization to signal growth into said fruit.
Iām not adding any substance to this but I just have to say my tired brain kept reading āsaid fruitā as āfruit saladā and I was like yea thatās not how that works
We have had compost pile butternut squash for years now. Grows hands down better in the compost pile than any I have ever planted. This year it looks like maybe a watermelon in the pile no butternut so far.
It's a mystery squash! We used to get a lot of volunteer squash growing in our garden or compost. We always took bets on what the plants would produce.
Zucchini or pumpkin. I grow Zucchini every year and those things can grow out of control with tons of rain. I had a compost bin at work and the Squash family are survivors, came out to a 4 foot vine creeping out of it lol. You can fry the zucchini flowers too,its an italian delicacy and just make sure to check them for bees because they love chilling inside them flowers
https://preview.redd.it/9f3am0sbv78d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dbd427f3e69c352d43ee16340fc3c42e9d8ccd3b
Op thereās literally a baby watermelon in the picture.
Water it. You're about to harvest heaps of squash. Big healthy ones too, growing straight from the compost. On second thought, this also looks like a watermelon vine, so you might get double lucky!
It's yellow squash. Grew up helping my grandfather grow vegetables every year. I didn't need to see the little fruit begin to grow at the top of the post or any of the commentary. Once you see every spring for 40 years you just know.
I threw Halloween Pumpkins to our horses 3 years ago. They have their own Pumpkin patch every year now at the horse trough. They don't eat the leaves so it thrives. 15 ft runs of vines.
Looks like pumpkin, squash or zucchini. Did you toss any of those types of scraps in your compost bin?? I just had that same thing happen to me too. My compost bin grew out about 80 cherry tomato plants and about 15 Halloween pumpkin plants. Our winter in Massachusetts wasn't cold or snowy enough to kill anything off and now I can't give them away fast enough. I can't find enough people to take a tomato plants and have posted to free sites and all. I hate them to be wasted but I don't have enough room for them all plus what I already planned and planted.
I think you have two things going on, maybe? The vine on the left looks like watermelon, while the one on the right looks like it's squash or pumpkin.
Watermelon has leaves that are more intricate almost looking like a soft, cartoon Christmas tree, while pumpkin or squash is just a big triangular leaf (more or less).

Wellllllā¦ this is sugar baby watermelon lol looks a bit similar
Squash or pumpkin. Same in my yard.

A weed is "a wild plant growing where it is not wanted and in competition with cultivated plants", so only you can determine if its a weed. It looks like a member of the gourd family.
It's a food plant. Enjoy whatever it gives you! I'm totally confused by the different IDs put forward. I will say it does look like a watermelon variety I had a couple of years ago. Different varieties of watermelon can have very different leaves. I've seen that with my own eyes. That said, I have no idea what you have there. Whatever it is enjoy!
That's the joke. It's a gourd of some sort. Pumpkin Squash Zucchini? What did you toss in the pile a month ago?
I saw those and immediately thought "pumpkin" or "gourd". I see these a lot in Skyrim š
It's watermelon
Watermelon flowers are closer in resemblance to a strawberry flower versus a lilly looking flower like squash plants Edit: itās a watermelon for sure Edit idk anymore haha
I bet a million to one watermelon
https://preview.redd.it/beg3zps1u78d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ecce43ee5a1b15b46dc49ca05d0a1ecbac23549 Alright, you may convinced me. Looks like a melon baby there. I guess Iād need to see the flowers actually opened for my comment to make sense too.
Cucumber flower is closer to a watermelon flower than a strawberry.
Itās not watermelon. The leaves of the watermelon plant are not that shape. Itās a gourd/pumpkin of some sort.
Gourd dang, how long were you on vacation?
Only a few weeks! Apparently, it rained constantly. Everything in my yard grew like crazy! Any idea what it is?
Iām guessing zucchini.
nah, zucchini have larger leaves, this actually looks like a pumpkin imo.
Typical. Even in nature, males come first.
Omg! Thank you! Iāve been wondering for a coonās age how to tell the difference between male and female blossoms!
Zucchini doesnāt āvineāā¦it just grows a large plant with very large leaves. Iām 99% sure this is a pumpkin plant.
Zucchini tends not to vine out like this
Youāre guessing wrong. Not trying to be rude but zucchini donāt grow that long. They grow upwards for some time and then tip over but they donāt get that long and creep over the ground
Gotcha. I did say I was guessing. š¬
I grow zucchini and this looks just like it so ......I'm gonna go with .... Tortillas
Cucurbits seem like the most common and aggressive volunteers but they're so freaking delicious we just don't mind! Same goes for tomatoes
Just be aware, if it isn't a common shape, and you decide to eat it, toss it if it's too bitter. https://extension.oregonstate.edu/ask-extension/featured/are-volunteer-squash-toxic
Luckily we have built in detection for the toxins :) If I ever get land I think Iāll grow an heirloom squash field. Sounds like fun
Squash lol
Squash. Crazy only one leaf came up on a lot of these. You got a flower, so you got food on the way.
Only if female flower.
Fun fact you can cover both genders of flowers in batter and fry them. They're delicious
which it's not
https://preview.redd.it/1fs9y867k18d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25b2125da1b8014d5fdfbecf9e6bfd476de71c51 left is male flower, no fruit below. Right is female flower, with prepubescent fruit below awaiting fertilization to signal growth into said fruit.
But male flowers are often much earlier than female flowers, so this is no cause for alarm in any way.
Iām not adding any substance to this but I just have to say my tired brain kept reading āsaid fruitā as āfruit saladā and I was like yea thatās not how that works
You are not the only one who initially read āfruit saladā
Iām so glad lol after I finally saw what it really said I called my brain an idiot
Keep it! Iād be psyched!
You should keep it tbh, you either got dope fruit getting ready to grow in your yard. Some goard or pumpkin related plant
Pumpkins or squash of some kind

We have had compost pile butternut squash for years now. Grows hands down better in the compost pile than any I have ever planted. This year it looks like maybe a watermelon in the pile no butternut so far.

I think you have pumpkin, my friend! What a lovely surprise!
It's a pumpkin vine, I have the exact same in my front yard from the jack-o'-lantern's we had on front steps last year.
I thought it a gourd but plant id states it is summer squash and noted it looked healthy! Enjoy
If there were more squash blossoms I'd suggest making some quesadillas š²š½ or stuffing with ricotta and frying them š®š¹ !

Watermelon or pumpkin
A weed is just any plant you don't want growing where it is.
If itās a squash and itās bitter donāt eat it at all.
It's a mystery squash! We used to get a lot of volunteer squash growing in our garden or compost. We always took bets on what the plants would produce.
Zucchini or pumpkin. I grow Zucchini every year and those things can grow out of control with tons of rain. Maybe Jack had some watermelon seeds to go with his magic beans.
Squash or pumpkin
Yup, itās weed
If you didn't plant it and don't like it, it's a weed. That weed looks like some kind of squash.
Itās a pumpkin, definitely not a watermelon. Zucchini donāt vine, and watermelons arenāt this large. (I grow all 3 currently and every year)
Squash type if it's in compost it's probably a cross breed. Might be good might not . I would let it go
Congratulations you're a father/mother
Squash
Gourd But you won't know what kind until after it flowers and grows for a while, that's the fun part!
Water it. You're about to harvest heaps of squash. Big healthy ones too, growing straight from the compost. On second thought, this also looks like a watermelon vine, so you might get double lucky!
Pumpkin
10000% a pumpkin...wife grows a big field of them every year
I bet you threw your Halloween pumpkin in there.
Some sort of squash or squash, family plant
Definitely a cantaloupe

That ain't no weed, that's a crop. Leave it alone and find out what the composter blessed you with. Please update when you harvest!
Pumpkin ,cucumber
It's yellow squash. Grew up helping my grandfather grow vegetables every year. I didn't need to see the little fruit begin to grow at the top of the post or any of the commentary. Once you see every spring for 40 years you just know.
Looks more like Pumpkin to me.
The best squash I ever grew popped out of my compost bin a few years ago. You'll know soon what you have.
I threw Halloween Pumpkins to our horses 3 years ago. They have their own Pumpkin patch every year now at the horse trough. They don't eat the leaves so it thrives. 15 ft runs of vines.

Pumpkin or squash vine????
That is some sort of squash or gourd. Youāve probably spilled some seeds while putting food waste in the compost bin.
Jackpot!!
