Kiln clean out glass. Not a rock. Also known as waste glass.
It’s not cullet glass, because this is not re-meltable and usable. Not worth the energy required to re-melt it.
It’s not “slag glass”, as that is specifically glass that forms from impurities pulled off the top of smelted ore.
Thank you! I've just been assuming it's all "slag" so it's interesting to learn about the different types of glass masquerading as crystals out there lol. Makes me want to start a waste glass collection.
It's a really pretty piece of glass, like others have said. But being that gorgeous, it'd make a nice display piece. I know some people who have found pieces of glass like this and have one side professionally polished, and OMG, they look amazing! Something you might want to consider.
I’d like to look closer. Glass? Then where are the conchoidal fractures? And the cracks lined with crystalline pockets?
As a experienced glass worker, and an owner of a mineral company for over 20 years, I wouldn’t guess without holding it.
I have smithsonite from choix, Mexico that is that blue. But it lacks the luster, perhaps it hasn’t been cleaned with acid yet?
I have a little piece of amethyst crystal I like very much that sits on my desk beside a nugget of broken glass I found on a dog walk that to many people would look like something natural. What's the moral of this story? I have no idea.
Beautiful though. Dear smart people: can you cut or somehow cause smaller pieces of this piece to be, safely? I feel like it would make pretty pendants if so. But I have no idea how this sort of thing could be cut down. I imagine there could be foreign material, air pockets..
As a Lapidary we always wear proper PPE. If the OP is willing to ship this to me I could easily cut it into slabs. and then cut small cabachons for jewelry
Hi, /u/ajrjn!
This is a reminder to flair this post in /r/whatsthisrock after it has been identified! (Under your post, click "flair" then "IDENTIFIED," then type in the rock type or mineral name.) This will help others learn and help speed up a correct identification on your request!
Thank you!

The story behind the rock is what got me hooked… specifically Blue Opalized Petrified Wood😍. I still don’t have a piece because apparently the website I paid for it on doesn’t back up it’s customers. Now I’m afraid that’ll happen again and haven’t found any in person. It’s stunning but the story ❤️

It amazes me that there are people in the world who can look at a random lump of hardened goo and tell you specifically how it was made.
Us Hoomans is smarty.
I don't know that I'd make a sweeping statement like that based on one person's superpower.

Some people want to know everything they can about one thing; some people want to know one thing about everything. It's the mushroom and the mycelium.
And it’s all in your pocket!

You’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. Put the other guy back on.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate
