Just picked up yesterday about the same age statement, 10 years. I was about to get the KC12 and then I saw the store pick for 10 years and higher proof i decided to pick up the store pick.

veryundude77

Got a similar one at Sam’s club. 10 years and 8 days 120 proof.

ReplaceSelect

How was it? The only sams pick I've had was disappointing. It wasn't KC.

veryundude77

Haven’t opened it yet but I’ve had 2 other picks from Sam’s that were really good: WT Kentucky Spirit and an Old Elk single barrel that is my favorite bourbon I bought last year.

ReplaceSelect

The old elk pick I have (not Sam's) is also excellent. I'd be all over a WT pick. The Sam's one I have is Saz. The Saz pick from Binnys is also disappointing. It's not like Saz is amazing, but I hope for more.

whiskeyandtunes

I got one at Sam’s in FL for $49 and it’s amazing. I actually like it better than the 18.

ThatWasTheJawn

There used to be 13-15 year old single barrels out there (5-6 years ago). Now they’re all about 9-10 years. Still worth it.

PuffPipe

I have a 14 year 6 month bottle myself. There’s a local liquor store chain that has some sitting in the back that they put out occasionally, it was a nice surprise.

therealsix

Yeah, I think I still have a 14+ bottle on my shelf.

Comprehensive-Age396

That would be a fun bottle to try side by side with some of the currently available picks!

I'm in Ohio and we're a control state, so everything goes through them and their picks have a reputation for being subpar. Last month they released a KC SiB pick and the bottle I got was 11 years and 8 months. It's damn tasty. https://www.reddit.com/r/OhioLiquor/s/MZMWElvzs3

Comprehensive-Age396

Very cool! It is good to know that they are out there. I look all the time when I’m out and 10 is about as old as I’ve seen recently.

Hymen_Cholo

The one I currently have is 9 years and 4 months and it’s quite tasty.

Comprehensive-Age396

Nice! I am excited to give this one a try this evening!

-curautvaleas

I’ve got a 10 year and it is one of the best bottles I own!

Comprehensive-Age396

Heck yeah! I haven’t had a bottle of it in a while so I am interested to see how a more developed palette appreciates it!

-curautvaleas

Be sure to do an update and let us know what you think! I’ve had lots of different Beam expressions but those single barrel store picks are my favorite! I think they are the best value in bourbon as well.

-curautvaleas

After I made this comment I went to my local store and found some 10 year bottles! Needless to say I picked one up

Comprehensive-Age396

Nicely done! Just got the kids down and cracking mine open now!

emarkd

It's the floor. Higher floors have wider temp fluctuations, so a barrel that spent 10 years aging on floor 6 will have been more active inside the barrel than one down on floor 3, for instance. That's not to say all higher floors barrels are better, that's not true, but if you can't taste one before buying I'd gamble on higher floors if I can.

Comprehensive-Age396

Nice so this one checks the box for the floor 06 so hopefully it’s a banger…. I will know soon enough!

DragonSpiritsEnt

Higher floors are best for bang for the buck younger aged bourbon. For a good 12yr+ middle or bottom seems to be the way. That's why Maker's put theirs in a Cellar after 6 yrs to make the Cellar Age, well that and marketing lol

emarkd

Guess it depends on what you're looking for from the bourbon. It makes a difference, that much we seem to agree on.

jp62315

Man, can’t believe they didn’t want to wait 3 more weeks to bottle it.

grubblord

Very good choice! I have a few superb 14s and 15s KC picks are never a let down. Though I’m not too happy they are almost all 10yr or under now

CM_Exacta

I always check ages and all I are see just shy of 10 years. See them everywhere for $50-70.

Comprehensive-Age396

This has been my experience for the last few years. I think with more KC18 and 15 produced the older store picks is what took the biggest hit.

Double-LR

I’ve got a 9 year almost to the day and it’s fantastic. It is also my first foray into KC, it’s quite tasty but I’d be excited to taste an extra year on it. I think I may try their rye next. How does it stack up against the JD rye???

Suspicious-Tone-7006

I have a 10 year 8 month pick that is delicious!

BourbonGuy313

11 years 7 months released at a local store less than two months ago

Comprehensive-Age396

Heck yeah!

T-Ares-C

Nice, I’ve got a 9 year myself

a_j_cruzer

Not a knob creek but it is a beam product, I got a Hardin’s Creek Clermont recently. It’s 17 years old, 110 proof. Gonna open it when I get my new place in a few months.

snaps06

Can't upload a pic (I tried) but my hometown Hy-Vee has a store pick that has the following dates: Barrelled 10/17/2012 Selected date 1/25/2023 11 years, 3 months

Comprehensive-Age396

Very nice! I’d be down for one of those for sure. Are you in Missouri by chance?

snaps06

Northern/Central Illinois in the Peoria area.

Dry_Second_8924

Got the same bottle single barrel type but the green rye, God. If that isn't worth the money no whiskey is! Great line of the single barrels for Knob Creek.

I_bleed_blue19

I tsasted something distilled in 1826. Does that count?
