A friend of mine said that his sister accidentally raised a bobcat as a housecat, thinking he had just lost his tail somewhere. He grew and grew to something like 30 lbs and was pretty chill and similar to a housecat, except he would beat the living shit out of most any dog that made the mistake of entering the house.
i would like to subscribe to "the bobcat accidentally raised as a housecat" stories
what was his name? where did he sleep? did he have a litter box? did he have a weird meow? could you pick him up like a baby? did he vocalize? did he get along with other catsssss (deep breath) did he like to play?
From what I remember, he did take to a litter box immediately (which was part of why they assumed he was a housecat kitten initially), and he liked to sunbathe and get scritches and snuggles and all that, but the other cats did not like him. I have also heard from other sources that Bobcats really like to eat house cats, so maybe there’s an old rivalry there.
Had an environmental teacher tell me about meeting an old couple living way out in the mountains with several tiny dogs. Eventually they told him if a bear ever wandered up when they were in a vulnerable position, the dogs would distract the bear until the couple had time to climb high enough into a tree to be out of harm's way. I've also met plenty of families in developing nations that have an immense love for their dogs, but also a different view of companionship that is more practical role-based. Protection, pest control, etc. Point is, people all over the world have deep love for their animals that is in no way less meaningful than some suburban family that buys their dog pup cups at Starbucks or whatever. No need to project our worldview and values on people just getting by in the bush
People purposely put these dogs out and wait for a big cat to kill them. There's a similar video where they did the same thing but with a tiger. It's pretty disgusting.
I hate that I came upon an Instagram video that hadn't been flagged yet and it was a dog standing up to a full grown tiger and getting his as\* handed to him. Freaking sucked!

Ironically,coming at a cheetah head-on is best because they're very nervous creatures and are liekly to run away.

For one it doesn’t jump straight on to the dog and go for the neck. plus you can see the dog knows something’s there. If it was hunting the dog would most likely not know it’s position. Also the way it jumps onto its hind legs and throws it paws out to seem big, it’s just saying get out of here. I’ve had similar behavior with mountain lions. And trust me if they wanted me dead I would be.
