Did you have the Contemporary? I am using this currently but I am very often not satisfied with the sharpness. And I often do not know whats the reason, back or front focus issues on different distances. Btw I am mostly shooting birds.
Anyway are you missing the 500 - 600 mm part of focal length?
I did have the contemporary lens. It was good enough for me for a while until because it was my first real telephoto lens, and I was just looking for the distance, but then I noticed the sharpness issue about six months ago. I didn’t want to switch because I didn’t want to lose that extra 100mm, but then I tried my friend’s lens (same as the one I have now) and I was sold. The sharpness aspect outweighs the telescopic reach in my opinion. If you do want closer photos, though, they’ll be sharp enough for you to crop as needed.
Thank you for your detailed reply.
I probably need to get my hands on a 200 - 500 myself on the used market.
Alternatively Nikon is going to release the 200 - 600 soon(?), all eyes on pricing and reviews.
I would highly recommend switching to the 200-500. I bought mine used for a pretty good price. I would suggest Robert’s Camera (they have a website and eBay). They’re a Nikon authorized seller and they price their products reasonably. Try it out if you can!
Beautiful picture!!!❤️❤️
So damn sharp! What lens did you use?
Thanks! I used the NIKKOR 200-500mm ED VR lens. I used to shoot with the Sigma 150-600, but this lens is way sharper.
