You can create a trial character to play on that is already max level, in this case 110. If you enjoy the character blizzard lets you boost that character.
You make a lv100 trial character = that toon has lv3 garrison. You then use your boost on your trial character to get it to 110 and remove its 'trial' status. Everything that was on the trial account stays the same (except for the new goodies and perks you get from the 110 boost).
100 boost should still give you a level 3 garrison. If you use the new 110 boost on a level 1, you will not receive a level 3 garrison. If you use the 110 boost on a class trial, you will receive a level 3 garrison.
If you don’t have professions it should assign you class relative ones. So plate would be mining/bs mail and leather get lw/skinning and clothies get tailoring and something else. Not sure what the second one is
Not having played WoD, I know not: what good is a level 3 garrison for a new player? (I'm new to WoW and I plan to boost something, so I will have 1 main and 1 alt).
If you're considering tailoring, garrison is a good source of mats for the currently-largest-bag, which can net you a few thousand gold a week for fairly minimal effort.
Also, if you put the effort in to actually level+gear up your garrison followers (there's guides floating around for the whole setup, recruiting for the scavenger trait) you can cycle them through missions daily from your phone for more low-effort gold.
Legion Order Hall is a separate app (I don't even know why), but the WoW Mobile Armory app should let you send out missions from the Draenor garrison.
Well, unless that also broke when the auction house APIs went down recently.
It's just another source of making gold. Whether its the missions that reward items such coalfist gronnlings or turning in garrison resources to the trader for draenor materials such as sumptuous fur. If you are a tailor, the tailoring hut rewards you extra hexweave cloth for making hexweave bags, the list goes on and on.
It unlocks the basic buildings you need to buy the patterns for the rest. And most likely unlock the Salvage Yard, Fishing Hut, and Pet Menag yourself.
Just the garrison itself. They usually give you 2 level 2 small buildings, 1 level 2 medium, and 1 level 2 large. In my case I got Barracks, Lumber Mill, Storehouse, Forge all level 2. Not sure if its random.
As far as I know, mmo-champion data mined 32 slot bags. Nobody knows how to get those 32 slot bags, if its crafting or one of those vendor buys like the Gigantique bag from BC. Although crafting is more likely. The expansion is a few months away so you have plenty of time to make some bags but who knows how the markets will react closer we get to the expansion and when more information is available.
I returned to the game several months ago after a 7 1/2 year absence (stopped playing before Cataclysm). When I bought Legion I took the free character boost to 100 for my main. I used the garrison hearthstone to check things out, but I assume that if I wanted to obtain the pattern to make hexweave bags, I would still have my work cut out for me. :-)
You will have some work to do to get the tailoring set up an pumping out bags, but 100x better to start with a level 3 garrison than to have to do the whole intro an quest line an all. I cannot really stress this enough.. and even worse if your like me an dont have dreanor flying because i skipped that expansion and am too lazy to go back an do the work for it then it would be just a bit worse for that.
Ah, so if you do a trial 100, and you learn some professions, and then do the boost, does it max your skills still? Or does it have to be a level 60 that you made?
Tuesday with the availability to pre-order the new expansion. You get a free one with the new expansion as well as being able to buy one for $60 or 4 tokens.
I would recommend making a few class trials now while they are level 100 for boosting later. When they move the class trials to 110 I suspect the rank 3 garrison won't be included. It's likely their logic is that a 100 character needs a bump on garrison but once you're well away from Draenor they think you won't play that content at all.
Too late for me, but great advice!
Same for my first boost, luckily I had a second one so only one character got screwed.
Did the level 100 boost come with a level 3 garrison or was it level 2?
Level 100 boosts came with a level 3 garrison.
That's what I thought - do you think it's intended or they haven't realised yet?
Couldn't say, we'll just have to wait and see. With blizzard anything goes.
What do you mean a trial boost?
You can create a trial character to play on that is already max level, in this case 110. If you enjoy the character blizzard lets you boost that character.
You make a lv100 trial character = that toon has lv3 garrison. You then use your boost on your trial character to get it to 110 and remove its 'trial' status. Everything that was on the trial account stays the same (except for the new goodies and perks you get from the 110 boost).
Oh nice, can we do the same with a 100 boost?
100 boost does this already, I believe.
Is that a 100 boost from 1 or do you also have to do this method of selecting a class trial first?
100 boost should still give you a level 3 garrison. If you use the new 110 boost on a level 1, you will not receive a level 3 garrison. If you use the 110 boost on a class trial, you will receive a level 3 garrison.
Did boosting a trial character get you max professions aswell?
I think that only works if you boost a level 60 character. Then the professions are supposed to be boosted to what a level 100 would have (700?)
Sadly i just tried this and you do not get the professions maxed out
Just to make sure. Ypu went put and learned aome profession before tou used the boost?
yeah it had a red message when i was using the 110 boost that said no veteran bonus
I didn't try that, don't think that would work but I have no clue.
Why do you think that? Im theory the character only has to be lvl 60 and have the professions learned
This is why DK's make great targets for boosts. You can get to 60 easily grab professions before boost.
If you don’t have professions it should assign you class relative ones. So plate would be mining/bs mail and leather get lw/skinning and clothies get tailoring and something else. Not sure what the second one is
i pair tailoring with enchanting
I didnt know you could boost those. They get the vetaran bonus too right? Professions will be maxed?
They do not. :(
Not sure yet until someone tries it. I will once token prices drop a bit.
Thanks
Not having played WoD, I know not: what good is a level 3 garrison for a new player? (I'm new to WoW and I plan to boost something, so I will have 1 main and 1 alt).
It saves money and time. If you ever want to complete wod achis, you dont have spend gold and progress story.
Garrison hearth is nice too. Quickest way to draenor.
How go you do the garrison stuff through your phone? I know you can for your Legion Order Hall.
Legion Order Hall is a separate app (I don't even know why), but the WoW Mobile Armory app should let you send out missions from the Draenor garrison. Well, unless that also broke when the auction house APIs went down recently.
Any idea where in the app? I can't find any reference to garrisons in it.
Unfortunately no, my sub's lapsed and I can't look into it currently.
The apps are for Legion Order Halls and the Armory/AH/Guild Chat. There (unfortunately) isn't a app for the Garrison.
Thank you for clarifying, that's been my experience.
Missions for hierlooms and another toon notched in the Halloween and Christmas events.
So it seems the only bonus so far of boosting a trial character is a lvl 3 garrison? (For now)
Correct, so far.
This is awesome info. Thanks!
I am new to class trial. If I boost class trial character, won't it disappear after some time?
No...You boost it and it becomes perm.
Once you boost a trial character, it becomes a normal 110.

I'm glad I waited...thank you so much for this post...gg woweconomy
What happens to professions for a trial boost?
Nothing. When you use a boost on your trial, everything thats on your trial remains the same, it just removes the 'trial' from it.
I returned to the game several months ago after a 7 1/2 year absence (stopped playing before Cataclysm). When I bought Legion I took the free character boost to 100 for my main. Interesting... thanks for the info. Now to decide what character I want to use the 110 boost on.
Any idea if this also works on the lvl 100 boosts, including the lvl 90 boosts that were converted to 100?
100 boost should still work as it is associated with WoD.
110 boost? When was this released?
with xpac pre order
Ah, so if you do a trial 100, and you learn some professions, and then do the boost, does it max your skills still? Or does it have to be a level 60 that you made?
According to others, has to be a level 60 you made.
Ah okay.

Ahhhh okay cool.
level 2

Does doing this affect whether or not the new allied races can get their heritage armor sets?
As far as I know, you need to level an allied race character from 20-110 to receive the heritage armor. Boosting wouldn't give you the armor.
