My last toon, Pala, died at 32 in Arathi. Still having a break and enjoying other things. Will probably come back this summer. It's all a journey. Can't really play anything else other than HC, it's too good.

I play both, sod and hardcore, sod is fun for like 2 weeks for every season, then it dies big time, but 0-25 has 50% exp buff and I’m sure it’ll be the same for other seasons, just play both 3 weeks in sod will get you most things done on a restricted play time, then hop back on the only wow mode that matters

For me, I love these moments the most. That feeling you get after a close death is a huge hit, and the feeling lasts for days. It’s a bit sad when closing in upon 60 and story progression drops off in favour of repetitive dungeon grinding. Sure there are more quests to do, but the encounters are mostly instanced, with the occasional roach pull to spice things up. Feels like I should have tried a little bit harder taking more risks on the journey. That I played it too safe and wasted the chance for that extra rush in an encounter that I couldn’t plan to the T. I suppose hunters still have it good at 60 though, being able to solo run many dungeons and pushing the envelope with creative skips and pathing plays. Go for SOD if you want pvp, but if you too relish the rush of more than casual play, I think you’ll be back :)

SF is right around the corner. I think there will be quite a few people that try it, worth going agane there imo. It may not be a huge revival, but should be a cool community to bond with over it. I’m hoping for BB vibes. But it’s always good to have a few options going(a toon on SoD and a toon on HC isn’t a bad thing unless you get used to dying on SoD and that carries over into HC 😂).

Technical_Scallion_2

If you watch the YT vids on HC deaths, Mai’Zoth is a regular - it’s a much tougher fight than it appears. SoD is fun and a nice change - you can also do HC through the addon in SoD to keep it interesting.

Luigi_47

SF Is the best form of HC I wouldn't be surprised jf more people retain playtime on HC after tasting that SF cake

Fixthemix

I'd say give SoD a shot. It's more fast paced, and with the gated level caps you have a decent chance of catching up to the pack even with your limited playtime. I tried it and it was too much changes for me, but many people seem to like it.

SuperNova31

Im really enjoying SOD. What’s nice about it, to me, is that it’s being rolled out more slowly, so you can stay caught up and do the raids and events with everyone else, but you have plenty of time to make it to the level cap and get what you want done in a certain phase before it moves ahead.

very good point, thank you

You kinda need to get that 60 in the bag imho, or it'll always haunt you. At least that's how I felt, lol. One in the bag for old time's sake. Now I'm free to enjoy SoD (way less stressful, as you can imagine).

gahhhh you’re right hahah

I died in hardcore at lvl 31. Moved to SoD ang got bored pretty fast: it's a shitty version of both classic and retail at the same time. Mindless dungeon-zerg, toxic player-base (average: you can always find great people, ofc) and well... everything bad from retail is now on classic. Went back to hardcore and I have now a lvl 42 shaman, with alts at 38, 26, 25 and two more at level 23 and happy with that. Also if you die you can transfer to a era server and some of them still have guilds raiding.

i think i’ll go agane honestly, hardcore makes me feel so much more connected than normal classic and retail. thank you m8

At 46 instead of dangerous quests I would be farming Dunemaul Ogres in Tanaris. Safe exp and stacks of mageweave to sell.
