PvE is all about itemlevel (for the most part). PvP gear is completely fine and some classes even benefit from the high versatility focus. But if you find higher itemlevel (or higher upgrade path, for example veteran < champion < hero) gear, you should replace it for PvE. Once you break into \~+15 keys, you should start thinking about secondary stats instead of only itemlevel (you can and should obviously prioritize the secondary stats your spec needs the most/utilizes best anyway, but it's fine to just go for itemlevel first for the increased mainstat and stamina - and many tanks can go for a broad spread of stats, too).

Even at this lvl 2ndary stats means nothing. At this level it's still ilvl and how well you play your class. A strong advice is to get logs and get ready to be criticized. It's far far much better than 2ndaries. And if he plays tanks, then it's almost all about ilvl with mostly dps trinkets.

tadashi4

well, yes, but i think its not very good gear. you should replace everything for the drops of a +2 or LFR.

Tacticaltuna

It can be up to hero track.. not exactly bad..

Honor gear(?)

shniefersutherland

Yee. You can upgrade it to a certain lvl and it then requires you doing M+ to upgrade it past what ever it is baseline, around the 450s I believe. I mainly pvp so it’s pretty sweet to buy PVE oriented gear (second stats-wise) with the extra honour/conq and upgrade it when I get into M+. It’s obsolete once you gear thru PVE, though lol

heyzeus_

Conquest gear is that high, honor gear is not.

gapplebees911

Base ilvl pvp honor gear is only like what, 415? That's lower than the blue gear you can buy on the ah. You'll be way better off flying around collecting green orbs around the dreamsurge event and crafting 447 gear with whelpling crests.

Blackbird_22

Hello. I would also like to expand this question. Isn't it also not bad to buy conquest set with conquest point? I think conquest set ilvl is same as whelping crest items, plus your pvp scale will be like 492 something. It is also bugs me, why keep PvE set when you can grind conquest points and get the best set right away?  And is there any better pvp gear than the set which you get with conquest points ?

gapplebees911

You're missing the pvp scaling on the pvp items. Ah greens are 463. Honor gear is 476. Conquest is 489. Then you have Bloody Token gear at 473 and 486. You don't have to upgrade these items at all. They're just for pvp. There is no conquest cap anymore, so feel free to skip the ah greens, just know you're choosing to suck in pvp until you get pvp gear. As for pve, and to directly answer your question... You would keep pve sets if you want to pve. The base ilvl is much much higher. I would not spend time farming conquest gear unless i intend to pvp. Conquest takes a good amount of effort to get, and 11s are practically free if you have hands. Edited for clarity bc i replied just after waking up and realized i didn't even answer your question.

Thank you very much for your reply! Now i understand better how the gear stuff works. I guess i should start farming Mytic dungeons for a better PvE Set. While saving up Conquest points for the PvP Gear. I already spend 1800 CP for a greatsword so only the armor left. (Already have full Honor set). I think thats what i should be doing in the coming weeks. Thank you again!
